    Using the continuous shooting mode
    To select a continuous shooting mode:
    1. Set the camera to Capture mode.
    2. Press   to enter the continuous shooting menu.
    3. Press   or   to select your desired continuous shooting mode.
    4. Press   to confirm the setting.

    OffCaptures a single photo at a time.
    BurstContinuously takes pictures as long as you 
    keep pressing the shutter. The flash is always 
    off in this mode.
    Hi-speed 
    BurstPress and hold the shutter to take 
    continuous shots at 10fps (the maximum 
    number of photos is 10).
    Speedy Burst 
    120Use this feature to capture 60 photos with 
    at least 1/120 shutter speed with a press of 
    the shutter.
    Multi-shot 16Press the shutter to take 16 shots at 30 fps 
    and combines them as a single photo.
    AEBAutomatically takes 3 pictures with slightly 
    different settings in the shutter speed or the 
    aperture value.

    Using the flash mode
    The flash offers additional light source (usually used in a low-light environment). 
    You can capture an image using one of the following flash modes.
    To select a flash mode:
    1. Set the camera to Capture mode.
    2. Press   to enter the flash menu.
    3. Press   or   to select your desired flash mode.
    4. Press   to confirm the setting.

    Auto FlashThe flash fires automatically based on the 
    photographic conditions.
    Auto Anti Red-
    eyeReduces the red-eye phenomenon when 
    capturing natural-looking images of people 
    and animals in low-light conditions. Be sure 
    to ask the subject to look at the camera lens 
    or get as close to the camera as possible. 
    The flash fires automatically based on the 
    photographic conditions.
    Force OnThe flash always fires regardless of the 
    surrounding lighting conditions. Select this 
    mode when capturing images with high 
    contrast (backlighting) and deep shadows.
    Slow SyncFires the flash immediately at the beginning 
    of exposure with a longer shutter speed, so 
    balanced ambient lighting of the foreground 
    subject and background scene can be 
    reached in a low-light environment.
    Force OffThe flash does not fire. Select this mode 
    when flash photography is prohibited, or 
    when the distance to the subject is beyond 
    the effective range of the flash.

    Recording Videos
    You can record video with this camera. Set the movie settings before you start 
    recording a video. See Movie Format on page 31 for details.
    To record the video clip:
    1. Press   to start recording.
    •Use the 
    Zoom lever to zoom in/out on 
    the subject.
    • Press   to pause the recording and 
    press   again to resume.
    2. Press   to stop the recording.
    Using PIV function
    During video recording, you can capture an 
    image by pressing the shutter. An   icon and 
    the number of shots appear on the screen. 
    This feature is only applicable to videos with 
    size of 1080p (30fps), 720p (30fps), or VGA 
    (30fps).
    • The camera will automatically stop recording when the memory capacity is full.
    • Recording a video at Full HD and HD mode requires a Class 4 or above SDHC 
    card and the longest recording time is 29 minutes.
    • Digital zoom is not available while recording a video.
    • When the movie size is1080p (30fps) or 720p (30fps), the capture photos are 
    saved at 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 resolution. 
    • When the movie size is VGA (30fps), the capture photos are saved at 640 x 480 
    resolution.

    Using the Function menu
    Press the Function button   to access 
    most common features for photos and 
    videos. Depending on your settings, the 
    displayed option icons in the Function menu 
    may vary.
    To use the Function menu:
    1. Press   to enter the Function menu, the currently selected settings are 
    shown. 
    2. Press   or   to go to another option, or press   or   to select a 
    setting.
    3. Press   to confirm the setting.

    Aspect Ratio
    To select an aspect ratio:
    1. Press  > Aspect Ratio.
    2. Press   or   to select a setting.
    3. Press   to confirm setting.
    Resolution
    To select an image size:
    1. Press  > Resolution.
    2. Press   or   to select a setting.
    3. Press   to confirm setting.
    IconDescription
    Sets the aspect ratio (width:height) to 4:3 (default).
    Sets the aspect ratio (width:height) to 3:2.
    Sets the aspect ratio (width:height) to 16:9.
    Sets the aspect ratio (width:height) to 1:1.
    The pixels of each image is determined by the combination of aspect ratio and 
    resolution you select. For actual pixels of each combination, see the specifications 
    page for details.

    EV Compensation
    EV (Exposure Value) lightens or darkens the 
    entire image. Adjust EV when the brightness 
    between the subject and the background is 
    not balanced, or when the subject occupies 
    only a small part of the picture.
    To select an EV:
    1. Press  > EV Compensation.
    2. Press   or   to select an EV from the 
    EV bar.
    3. Press   to confirm setting.
    White Balance
    Compensates for color temperatures in different lighting conditions, so white 
    and other colors can display properly when you capture images.
    IconModeDescription
    AutoAdjusts white balance automatically.
    DaylightUsed in bright daylight conditions.
    CloudyUsed in twilight or shady conditions.
    TungstenUsed when subjects are lit by tungsten 
    (incandescent) lighting.
    Fluorescent HAdjusts for fluorescent lighting. Corrects the 
    green hue of fluorescent lighting. Ideal for 
    indoor photos under fluorescent lighting 
    without a flash.

    Used when you want to manually adjust 
    white balance in a particular lighting 
    condition.

    To select White Balance:
    1. Press  > White Balance.
    2. Press   or   to select a white balance option. The preview result based 
    on the currently selected white balance is shown on the screen. (When 
    selecting the manual mode, you must first point the camera at a blank sheet 
    of white paper or something similar and press the shutter for the camera to 
    detect proper colors.)
    3. Press   to confirm setting.
    ISO
    ISO configures the camera’s sensitivity to light. The higher the ISO value, the 
    brighter picture you can take in a low-light environment. Yet, you may see more 
    noise in the picture as you increase the ISO value.
    To select an ISO value:
    1. Press  > ISO.
    2. Press   or   to select an ISO Value.
    3. Press   to confirm setting.
    IconDescription
    Automatically sets the ISO value.
     Equivalent to color ISO 100/200 film. Used for outdoor 
    photography in bright sunlight.
       
      Equivalent to color ISO 400/800/1600/3200/6400 film. Used it 
    in a low-light environment or where the flash light is not 
    allowed. 
       ISO 3200/6400 for resolution of 3M or under only.

    Metering
    To select an AE metering option:
    1. Press  > Metering.
    2. Press   or   to select an AE metering option.
    3. Press   to confirm setting.
    Color Mode
    Adds color filter effects to the image or video you want to capture.
    IconModeDescription
    MatrixDetects the exposure based on multiple 
    points in the subject area.
    Cen. Weight 
    (Center 
    We i g h t )Detects the exposure of the entire shooting 
    screen, but gives more importance to the 
    values near the center.
    SpotDetects the exposure based on the center 
    spot in the subject area.
    IconModeDescription
    NormalNo effects are added.
    VividAdds an effect with very clear and bright 
    color tones.
    SepiaAdds an effect with dark reddish brown 
    color tones, so the image or video looks as if 
    it is old.
    Color Accent 
    (Red)Highlights the subjects by keeping the red 
    color domain of an image only while making 
    other regions black and white.
    Color Accent 
    (Green)Highlights the subjects by keeping the green 
    color domain of an image only while making 
    other regions black and white.
    Color Accent 
    (Blue)Highlights the subjects by keeping the blue 
    color domain of an image only while making 
    other regions black and white.

    To select a color mode effect:
    1. Press  > Color Mode.
    2. Press   or   to select an option. The preview result based on the 
    currently selected color mode is shown in the middle thumbnail.
    3. Press   to confirm setting.
    B/W (Black and 
    White)Adds an effect with monochromatic color 
    tones.
    Vivid RedThe image becomes reddish.
    Vivid GreenThe image becomes greenish.

    Filter Effect
    Lets you select the desired filter to add to the image you want to take.
    To select a filter effect:
    1. Press  > Filter Effect.
    2. Press   or   to select an option.
    3. Press   to confirm setting.
    Lomo
    Adds a Lomo effect to the image or video you want to capture.
    To select a Lomo effect:
    1. Press  > Lomo.
    2. Press   or   to select an option.

    OffNo digital filter is used.
    FisheyeSimulates a fisheye lens effect and creates a 
    distorted hemisphere-like image.
    To ySimulates a shallow depth of field by 
    gradually blurring the top and bottom areas 
    of a composition.
    WatercolorSimulates oil painting brushes to make an oil 
    painting effect.
    SketchUses hand drawing effect to emphasize the 
    outlines in the photo.
