     ■Settings
    Settings The movement of the
subject and the scene (recommended) Description of settings
    [AFS] Subject is still
    (Scenery, anniversary
photograph, etc.) “AFS” is an abbreviation of “Auto Focus Single”.
Focus is set automatically when the shutter button is
pressed halfway. Focus will be fixed while it is pressed
    halfway.
    [AFF] Movement cannot be
    predicted
(Children, pets, etc.) “AFF” is an abbreviation of “Auto Focus Flexible”. In this
mode, focusing is performed automatically when the
    shutter button is pressed halfway.
If the subject moves while the shutter button is pressed
halfway, the focus is corrected to match the movement
    automatically.
    [AFC] Subject is moving
(Sport, trains, etc.) “AFC” is an abbreviation of “Auto Focus Continuous”. In
this mode, while the shutter button is pressed halfway,
focusing is constantly performed to match the movement
of the subject. When the subject is moving, the focusing
is performed by predicting the subject position at the
    time of recording.
●When recording using [AFF], [AFC] • Press the shutter button halfway again when it is dif
ficult to focus on the subject.
     • While the shutter button pressed halfway

, shake may be seen on the screen.
     • The battery will be consumed faster than usual.

    [Quick AF]
As long as the camera is held steady, the camera will automatically adjust the focus and
focus adjustment will then be quicker when the shutter is pressed. This is useful when
you do not want to miss a picture-taking opportunity.
     ■Settings: [ON] / [OFF]
●The battery will be consumed faster than usual. ●Focus alignment may take time if zoom is suddenly changed from max. W to max. T,
or if suddenly moving closer to subject.
●Press shutter button halfway if focus is difficult to align. ●[Quick AF] will not work while AF Tracking is operating. ●Cannot be set in the following case. • [Panning] [Night Portrait] [Night Scenery] [Handheld Night Shot] [Starry Sky] ([Scene Mode])

    [Min. Shtr Speed]
Sets the minimum value for the shutter speed. We recommend using slower shutter
speeds to take brighter pictures in dark locations. Also, you can set it faster to reduce the
    blur of the subject.
     ■Settings: [AUTO] [1/250] [1/125] [1/60] [1/30] [1/15] [1/8] [1/4] [1/2] [1]
●Slower shutter speeds allow for brighter pictures but increase risk of jitter , so we
recommend using a tripod and the self-timer.
●As still pictures may become dark when using faster values, we recommend that still
pictures are taken in bright locations ([ ] flashes red when shutter button is pressed
halfway if still picture will be dark).
●[ ] displayed on screen for settings other than [AUTO].
    [i.Resolution]
You can use the camera’s Intelligent Resolution technology to record still pictures with
    sharper outlines and clearer resolution.

     ●About [i.ZOOM] (→76)

Zoom 5 times further than Optical/Extended optical zoom. Note that enlarging will

    [Stabilizer]
    Automatically detects and prevents jitter.
     ■Settings: [ON] / [OFF]
     ■Active Mode
When recording motion pictures, “Active Mode” (stabilizer for motion pictures) will
automatically function. This decreases the jitter of the image when recording motion
    pictures while walking, etc.
●In “Active Mode”, stronger effect of the correction can be achieved at the wide end. ●In the following case, “Active Mode” will not function even when recording motion
    pictures.
     • When [Rec Quality] is set to [VGA] in [MP4] • When [Conversion] is set • When [Stabilizer] is set to [OFF] in [Creative V

    ideo Mode]
●Cases where the stabilizer function may be ineffective: • When there is a lot of jitter • When the zoom magnification is high (also in the Digital Zoom range) • When taking pictures while following a moving subject • When the shutter speed becomes slower to take pictures indoors or in dark places ●The setting is fixed to [ON] in [Handheld Night Shot] Scene Mode. ●The setting is fixed to [OFF] in the following Scene Modes:
    [Starry Sky], [3D Photo Mode]
●Even if you set to [ON], only jitter in the vertical direction will be corrected in [Panning]
    Scene Mode.
