Janus/Calypso
Internal Gain Adjustment Instructions
V1.02 2011-5-7

The Calypso / Janus is a high gain linestage. Audio systems with efficient speakers and / or sensitive
amplifiers may require less gain. One indication would be a low volume control range, i.e. 0-40 for
normal listening level. Another is excessive tube hiss from the Calypso / Janus (referring to the
linestage section of the Janus). If there is excessive tube hiss and t\
he volume range is greater than
40, likely the tubes...

Calypso Tube Placement
Rev .1.00 2006-08-16

The Calypso is shipped with the tubes removed in order to avoid shipping damage. This guide will assist in the
placement of each tube.

It is important to note that all of the tubes are matched and therefore each tube must be inserted into its proper socket,
which is indicated on the outside of the tube box.

The format is as follows, using one specific tube as an example:
 “V1L”, where:
V is the designator for a tube.
1 is the...

Always ensure the volume controls are at their minimum (fully counter-clockwise) setting before changing inputs. Unless the volume controls are at their minimum setting, a loud discharge will occur that can potentially damage speakers. Important Note Two: Never change the below settings with the Io on.
