WHAT COMES IN THE CARTON 
• To make sure you have everything you 
need to install your new whole house
attic fan, unpack the carton and take
inventory. The carton should contain:
(1) Fan assembly mounted on 
wooden frame
(1) Shutter packed in its own carton
(6) Screws with white-painted heads 
for mounting shutter 
(1) Cardboard template, printed on the 
outside of the shutter carton
(1) 2-speed electrical wall switch and
coverplate

fasten the center of...

attached to the top of the uncut joists to 
extend 6 inches beyond the shutter hole 
on each side (this will provide support 
for the framing lumber installed in Step 
8).  Attach the 2 x 4s to the joists with 
flat metal connectors fastened with 
1-inch wallboard screws, or by toenailing 
with 3
1/2-inch (16d) common nails.
• When you’ve completed this step,
you will have a sealed-off vacuum box 
for the fan and shutter.

Step 12: Mount the shutter 
•From the hallway, position the shutter in the
ceiling cutout, and fasten it with the six 
screws with white-painted heads.
•Make sure the vanes on the shutter are 
positioned so all the airflow goes toward 
the motor. This will help keep the fan 
operating properly.
Step 13: Operate the fan
•Open windows and interior doors of rooms 
to be ventilated by the fan.
•If you have a fireplace, make sure the flue 
is closed.
•At your home’s breaker box, switch on the 
circuit breaker...

•El ventilador está diseñado para ser 
instalado horizontalmente en áticos,
generalmente sobre un vestíbulo o pasillo 
central.
•Determine el centro del cielo raso del
