    2.1 Assembling the monitor base
    To	assemble	the	monitor	base:
    1.	 Have	the	front	of	the	monitor	face	down	on	a	table.
    2.	 Place	 the	ring-shaped	 base	on	the	 back	 of	the	 monitor	 by	aligning	 the	slots	 on	
    the	base	with	the	pins	on	the	monitor.
    3.	 Use	 a	coin	 or	the	 like	 to	turn	 the	screw	 until	the	ring-shaped	 base	is	securely	
    attached	to	the	monitor.	
    We	recommend	that	you	cover	the	table	surface	with	soft	cloth	to	prevent	damage	to	the	monitor.
    2.2  Adjusting the monitor
    	For	optimal	viewing,	we	recommend	that	you	look	at	the	full	face	of	the	
    monitor,	then	adjust	the	monitor	to	the	angle	that	is	most	comfortable	for	you.
    To	adjust	your	viewing	angle,	gently	push	the	top	portion	of	the	monitor	or	bring	
    the	monitor	forwards	as	illustrated.
    	You	can	adjust	the	monitor’s	angle	from	10˚	to	25˚.
    +10f to +25f
    It	is	normal	that	the	monitor	slightly	shakes	while	you	adjust	the	the	viewing	
    angle.

    2.3 Connecting the cables
    1.	 Connect	the	cables	as	the	following	instructions:
      
    HDMIVGAFOR HDMI
    DC-INVGAHDMIFOR HDMI
    To.connect.the.power.cord:
    Connect	the	power	adapter	securely	to	the	monitor’s	DC	input	port.
    Connect	one	end	of	the	power	cord	to	the	power	adapter	and	the	other	
    end	to	a	power	outlet.	
    To	connect	the	VGA/HDMI-DVI	cable:	
    Plug	one	end	of	the	VGA/HDMI-DVI	cable	to	the	monitor’s	VGA/HDMI	
    port.
    Connect	the	other	end	of	the	VGA/HDMI-DVI	cable	to	your	computer's	
    VGA/DVI	port.
    Tighten	the	two	screws	to	secure	the	VGA/DVI	connector.
    To	use	the	earphone	(only	when	an	HDMI	cable,	not	the	supplied	HDMI-
    DVI	cable,	is	connected):	connect	the	end	with	plug	type	to	the	monitor’s	
    earphone	jack.
    When	these	cables	are	connected,	you	can	choose	the	desired	signal	from	the	
    Input	Select	item	in	the	OSD	menu.
    2.4  Turning on the monitor
    Tap	the	power	 button		.	 See	 page	 1-2	for	the	 location	 of	the	 power	 button.	 The	
    power	indicator		lights	up	in	white	to	show	that	the	monitor	is	ON.

    2.5  Turning on Light-In-Motion
    1.	 Tap	MENU	and	turn	the	control	wheel	to	select	System.Setup.
    2.	 Tap	MENU	again	and	turn	the	control	wheel	to	select	Light-In-Motion.
    3.	 Tap	MENU	again	and	turn	the	control	wheel	to	select	On.
    4.	 Tap		repeatedly	until	the	OSD	menu	disappears	to	save	and	exit	the	
    OSD.

    3.1 OSD (On-Screen Display) menu 
    3.1.1	 How	to	reconfigure
    Tap	the	MENU	button	to	activate	the	OSD	
    menu.	
    1.
    Turn	the	control	wheel	to	navigate	through	the	functions.	Highlight	the	
    desired	function	and	tap	the	MENU	button	to	activate	it.	If	the	function	
    selected	has	a	sub-menu,	turn	the	control	wheel	again	to	navigate	through	
    the	sub-menu	functions.	Highlight	the	desired	sub-menu	function	and	tap	the	
    MENU	button	to	activate	it.	
    Turn	the	control	wheel	to	change	the	settings	of	the	selected	function.
    To	exit	 and	 save	 the	OSD	 menu,	 tap	the		button	 repeatedly	 until	the	
    OSD	menu	disappears.	To	adjust	other	functions,	repeat	steps	1-3.
    3.1.2. OSD.function.introduction
    Splendid
    This	function	contains	five	sub-functions	
    you	can	select	for	your	preference.	Each	
    mode	has	the	Reset	selection,	allowing	
    you	to	maintain	your	setting	or	return	to	the	
    preset	mode.
    1.
    Scenery.Mode:	best	choice	for	scenery	photo	display	with	SPLENDID™	
    Video	Enhancement.
    Standard.Mode:	best	choice	for	document	editing	with	SPLENDID™	
    Video	Enhancement.
    Theater.Mode:	best	choice	for	movies	with	SPLENDID™	Video	
    Enhancement.
    Game.Mode:	best	choice	for	games	playing	with	SPLENDID™	Video	
    Enhancement.
    Night.View.Mode:	best	choice	for	dark-scene	games	or	movies	with	
    SPLENDID™	Video	Enhancement.
    In	the	Standard	Mode,	the	Saturation	and	Sharpness	functions	are	not	user-configurable.
    In	the	other	modes,	the	sRGB	function	is	not	user-configurable.•

    2..Image.
    You	can	adjust	brightness,	contrast,	
    sharpness,	saturation,	position	(VGA 	only),	
    and	focus	(VGA	only)	from	this	menu.	
    Brightness:	the	adjusting	range	is	from	0	to	100.	 To	have	a	quick	access	
    to	the	adjustment	menu,	turn	the	control	wheel	clockwise.
    Contrast:	the	adjusting	range	is	from	0	to	100.	To	have	a	quick	access	to	
    the	adjustment	menu,	turn	the	control	wheel	counterclockwise.
    ASCR:	turns	on/off	the	ASCR	(ASUS	Smart	Control	Ratio)	function.
    Sharpness:	the	adjusting	range	is	from	0	to	100.
    Saturation:	the	adjusting	range	is	from	0	to	100.	
    Position:	adjusts	the	horizontal	position	(H-Position)	and	the	vertical	
    position	(V-Position)	of	the	image.	 The	adjusting	range	is	from	0	to	100.
    Focus:	reduces	Horizonal-line	noise	and	Vertical-line	noise	of	the	image	
    by	adjusting	(Phase)	and	(Clock)	separately.	 The	adjusting	range	is	from	
    0	to	100.
    Phase	adjusts	the	phase	of	the	pixel	clock	signal.	With	a	wrong	phase	
    adjustment,	the	screen	shows		horizontal	disturbances.
    Clock	(pixel	frequency)	controls	the	number	of	pixels	scanned	by	one	
    horizontal	sweep.	If	the	frequency	is	not	correct,	the	screen	shows	vertical	
    stripes	and	the	image	is	not	proportional.•

    3..Color
    Select	the	image	color	you	like	from	this	
    function.	
    Color.Temp.:	contains	five	color	modes	including	Cool,	Normal,	Warm,	
    sRGB,	and	User.
    Skin.Tone:	contains	three	color	modes	including	Reddish,	Natural,	and	
    Yellowish.	
    In	the	User	mode,	colors	of	R	(Red),	G	(Green),	and	B	(Blue)	are	user-
    configurable;	the	adjusting	range	is	from	0-100.

    4.. Input.Select.
    In	this	function,	you	can	select	your	
    desired	input	source.
    5..System.Setup.
    Allows	you	to	adjust	the	system.
    Splendid.Demo.Mode:	turns	on/off	 ASUS	Splendid	Demo	function.
    Light-In-Motion:	Selecting	“On”	enables	the	lighting	effect	emitting	
    around	the	control	wheel.
    Volume:	the	adjusting	range	is	from	0	to	100.
    Aspect.Control:	adjusts	the	aspect	ratio	to	full	or	4:3.	
    OSD.Setup:	
    Adjusts	the	horizontal	position	(H-Position)/the	vertical	position	
    (V-Position)	of	the	OSD	from	0	to	100.	
    Adjusts	the	OSD	timeout	from	10	to	120	seconds.	
    Enables	or	disables	the	DDC/CI	function.			
    Language:	there	are	11	languages	for	your	selection,	including	English,	
    German,	Italian,	French,	Dutch,	Spanish,	Russian,	 Traditional	Chinese,	
    Simplified	Chinese,	Japanese	and	Korean.	
    Information:	shows	the	monitor	information.	
    All.Reset:	“Yes”	allows	you	to	restore	the	default	settings.

    3.3  Troubleshooting (FAQ)
