    Connecting to the world
    Connecting to mobile networks
    After installing the SIM card, you are ready to use your PadFone Infinity to make/receive voice calls or 
    transmit/receive data. Different countries or regions may have different mobile networks available and 
    you may have to configure your PadFone Infinity to access these networks. 
    To configure your Mobile networks setting:.  Do any of the following to go to the Settings screen:
     Touch 
     to go to the All apps screen then touch Settings . 
      Swipe your finger down from the top of the screen to go to 
    ASUS Quick Settings then 
    touch . 
    .   From the Settings screen, touch 
    More....

     Mobile networks.
    NOTE:
    For more details about ASUS Quick Settings, refer to the section Managing notifications  in Chapter .
    IMPORTANT:
    If your PadFone Infinity does not connect to a network, contact your mobile  network carrier for assistance.
    Refer to your PadFone Infinity Quick Start Guide for instructions on how to install a SIM card.

    Connecting to Wi-Fi networks
    Wi-Fi wireless networking technology allows you to exchange data wireles\
    sly over a network. To use 
    Wi-Fi, enable the Wi-Fi feature in your PadFone Infinity and connect to a wireless network. Some 
    wireless networks are secured with a key or protected with digital certificates and requires additional 
    steps to set up; others are open and you can easily connect to them.
    TIP:
    Turn OFF Wi-Fi when you’re not using it to help save battery power.
    To enable Wi-Fi and connect to a Wi-Fi network:.  Do any of the following to go to the Settings screen:
     Touch 
     to go to the All apps screen then touch Settings . 
      Swipe your finger down from the top of the screen to go to
     ASUS Quick Settings then 
    touch .  You can also touch Wi-Fi  from ASUS Quick Settings to directly 
    enable/disable Wi-Fi.
    .   Slide the Wi-Fi switch to 
    ON. When enabled, your PadFone Infinity scans for available Wi-Fi 
    networks.  
    3.  Touch 
    Wi-Fi to display list of available Wi-Fi networks nearby. Secured networks are 
    indicated with a lock icon. 
    .  Touch a network name to connect to it. If the network is secured or prote\
    cted, you are 
    prompted to key in a Password or key in other credentials.
    NOTE:
    For more details about ASUS Quick Settings, refer to the section Managing notifications  in Chapter .
    IMPORTANT:
    If your PadFone Infinity finds a network that you have connected to prev iously, it automatically connects to it.

    Using Bluetooth
    Enabling or disabling Bluetooth in your device
    Bluetooth is a wireless standard used for exchanging data over short dis\
    tances. Bluetooth exists in 
    many products, such as smartphones, computers, tablet devices, and heads\
    ets. 
    Bluetooth is very useful when transferring data between two or more devi\
    ces that are near each other.
    The first time you connect to a Bluetooth device, you must pair it with your PadFone Infinity. 
    TIP:
    Turn OFF Bluetooth in your PadFone Infinity when you’re not using it to help save battery power.
    To enable or disable Bluetooth in your PadFone Infinity, you can do any of the following:
     Touch 
     to go to the All apps screen then touch Settings . Slide the Bluetooth 
    switch to ON / OFF.
      Swipe your finger down from the top of the screen to go to 
    ASUS Quick Settings, touch 
    Bluetooth  .

    Pairing your PadFone Infinity with a Bluetooth device
    Before you can connect to a device, you must first pair your PadFone Infinity to that device. Once 
    paired, the devices stay paired unless you unpair them.
    To pair your PadFone Infinity to a device:.  Touch 
     to go to the All apps screen then touch Settings  . Slide the Bluetooth 
    switch to ON.
    .   Touch 
    Bluetooth to display all available Bluetooth devices within range. If the device \
    you 
    want to pair with is not in the list, ensure that its Bluetooth feature \
    is turned ON and set as 
    Discoverable. See the technical documentation that came with the device \
    to learn how to 
    turn its Bluetooth ON and how to set it to discoverable.
    3.   If your PadFone Infinity has finished scanning before your Bluetooth device is ready , touch 
    Search for devices.
    .   In the list of available devices, touch the Bluetooth device you want to\
     pair with. Follow the 
    succeeding screen instructions to complete the pairing. If necessary, refer to the technical 
    documentation that came with the device.
    Connecting your PadFone Infinity to a Bluetooth device
    After you have paired your PadFone Infinity to a Bluetooth device, you can easily reconnect to it again 
    manually, after it is back in range.
    To connect:
    .  Touch 
     to go to the All apps screen then touch Settings  . Slide the Bluetooth 
    switch to ON.
    .  In the list of 
    PAIRED DEVICES, touch the name of the paired device.

    Unpairing and configuring a Bluetooth device
    To unpair or configure a Bluetooth device:.  Touch 
     to go to the All apps screen then touch Settings  . Slide the Bluetooth 
    switch to ON.
    .  Touch 
    Bluetooth to display the Bluetooth settings.
    3.  Touch the Bluetooth Quick Settings icon beside the connected Bluetooth de\
    vice you want to 
    unpair or configure.
    .  From the Bluetooth Quick Settings screen, you can do any of the followin\
    g:
    Touch Unpair to unpair the device.
    Touch Rename to rename the Bluetooth device.

    Using your PadFone Infinity Station
    Install your PadFone Infinity into your PadFone Infinity Station to extend its battery life and turn it into a 
    tablet device.
    IMPORTANT: 
    Before you start, ensure that you have read all the safety information a\
    nd operating instructions in the Important Notices bundled with your PadFone Infinity to prevent injury or damage to your device. 
    Refer to your PadFone Infinity Station Quick Start Guide for instructions on inserting your PadFone Infinity into the PadFone Infinity Station. 
    NOTES: 
    The image used is for reference only and may look different on your PadFone Infinity Station.
    The Home Screen may update and change with Android OS.

    Touching and typing
    Using gestures
    Use your fingers to launch apps, move icons, select menu items, press buttons, type on the onscreen 
    keyboard, and perform other useful gestures on your PadFone Infinity device’s touchscreen.
    To key in or type something, touch the part where you need to type and th\
    e onscreen keyboard will pop 
    up.
    The following table describes more useful gestures. 
    GestureDescription
    PinchPlace two fingers on the screen and spread them apart to zoom in and bring them together to zoom out. This gesture can be used in selected apps, including Maps, Gallery, and Browser.
    DragTouch and hold an icon or item then, without lifting your finger, move your finger on the screen to move the icon or item.
    Touch and holdTouch and hold an item until an action occurs.
    Swipe or slideQuickly move your finger across the screen in one sweeping motion.

    Using the onscreen keyboard
    You can type text using the onscreen keyboard. In most apps, the onscreen\
     keyboard appears 
    automatically when needed. In other apps, you can touch where you need t\
    o type to open the onscreen 
    keyboard.
    While typing on the onscreen keyboard, the keyboard displays suggestions\
     that may match the text 
    that you need. Touch a suggestion to use it.
    Touch and hold to  show input methods and keyboard settings 
    Touch to toggle between numeric pad with special characters and QWERTY keyboard
    Touch to turn caps lock ON, Fixed ON, or OFF. When ON, the alphabet keys are shown in capital letters
    Touch for back space
    Touch for tab
    Touch to use Google’s speech-recognition technology

    Using Google voice typing
    Google voice typing uses Google’s speech-recognition technology, that converts spoken words into text 
    input. You must be connected to the Internet when using this feature.
    As you speak, the converted text is underlined and you can continue spea\
    king to keep it, or you can 
    delete it.
    To use Google voice typing:
    1. Touch text field where you want to type text.
    2. Depending on the app you’re using, you can do either of the following:
    If you see the microphone icon  beside the text field, touch it.
    If the onscreen keyboard is open, touch .
    3. When you see the microphone icon, speak clearly what you want to type\
    . When you pause, 
    Google voice typing transcribes the text you spoke and displays it on the text field. 
    TIPS:
    Say “period”, “comma”, “question mark”, or “exclamation point” to type these punctuation marks.
    Touch the Backspace key  to delete the underlined text.
