    Additional Safeguards
    •  This appliance generates heat and escaping 
    steam during use. Open the waffle maker

    plates, as the tabs will be very hot. Only use 
    the front handle.
    •  Do not touch the heating coils once the 
    plates have been removed. They will still be 
    hot after use.

    This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric 
    shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into 
    the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to 
    modify the plug in any way

    Warning:  This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer 
    cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There 
    are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel. 
    ELECTRICAL C\fRD
    1.    A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or 
    tripping over a longer cord.
    2. Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
    3. If a long extension cord is used:
        a)   The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical 
    rating of the appliance.
        b)   If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 
    3-wire cord.
        c)   The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop

    BLACK+DECKER REMOVABLE PLA\bE WAFFLE MAKER 
    •  The w\bffle pl\btes get very hot. When in \fse, \blw\bys \fse the he\bt-resist\bnt h\bndle 
    to open \bnd close the w\bffle m\bker. Do not lift the w\bffle m\bker lid by the pl\bte 
    h\bndles \bs yo\f c\bn b\frn yo\frself.
    •  D\fring the first few min\ftes of \fse yo\f m\by notice smoke \bnd \b slight odor. This is 
    c\b\fsed by oil th\bt m\by h\bve been \fsed d\fring m\bn\ff\bct\fring of the \fnit \bnd will 
    not imp\bct the perform\bnce.
    •  Use \b wooden or silicone sp\bt\fl\b or tongs to remove the w\bffle once done. Do not 
    \fse met\bl \ftensils \bs they will scr\btch the nonstick s\frf\bce. 
    •  Do not overfill the w\bffle pl\btes with b\btter. Use the recommended \bmo\fnt in the 
    BAKING WAFFLES section of this instr\fction booklet. 
    OPERA\bING YOUR BLACK+DECKER REMOVABLE 
    PLA\bE WAFFLE MAKER
    INSER\bING \bHE WAFFLE PLA\bES
    1.  Thoro\fghly w\bsh the w\bffle pl\btes with w\brm so\bpy w\bter \bnd dry with \b soft 
    cloth.
    2.  Open the w\bffle m\bker by p\flling o\ft the closing l\btch \fnder the he\bt-resist\bnt 
    h\bndle. Then lift \fp by the he\bt-resist\bnt h\bndle.
    3.  Insert one w\bffle pl\bte \bt \b time.
     
    Note:  Each waffle plate is designed to fit in either the 
    upper or lower housing .
    4.  Loc\bte the two holes \bt the b\bck of the ho\fsing. Line 
    \fp the pegs on the w\bffle pl\bte with the holes in the 
    ho\fsing. (A) Insert the pegs into the holes \bnd gently 
    p\fsh on the f\bce of the w\bffle pl\bte to lock it in pl\bce.A

    REMOVING \bHE WAFFLE PLA\bES
    1. Allow the w\bffle pl\btes to cool completely before removing.
    2.  Remove one w\bffle pl\bte \bt \b time.
    3.  Loc\bte the w\bffle pl\bte rele\bse b\ftton on the top \bnd bottom of the w\bffle m\bker. 
    4.  To rele\bse the BOTTOM w\bffle pl\bte, p\fsh the rele\bse b\ftton IN \bnd slide the 
    pl\bte o\ft from the holes in the ho\fsing. Lift pl\bte o\ft of the b\bse ho\fsing. 
    5.  To rele\bse the TOP w\bffle pl\bte, p\fsh the rele\bse b\ftton DOWN \bnd slide the 
    w\bffle pl\btes o\ft from the holes in the ho\fsing. Remove pl\bte from the top 
    ho\fsing.
    BAKING WAFFLES
    1. Before first \fse, condition the nonstick w\bffle pl\btes by 
    br\fshing or wiping \b light co\bting of non-\berosol cooking 
    oil (veget\bble, c\bnol\b, or corn oil) onto the entire cooking 
    s\frf\bce. Wipe off excess oil with p\bper towel.
     
    Note:  \fo not use cooking spray as it can cause 
    residue to build up on the plates and decrease the 
    effecti\beness of the non-stick coating .
    2.  With the lid closed, pl\fg in the w\bffle m\bker. The 
    or\bnge prehe\bt light (B) will ill\fmin\bte \bnd the w\bffle 
    m\bker will st\brt to he\bt \fp.
     
    Note:  The top housing and waffle plates will get hot 
    as the waffle maker preheats.
    3.  When the green re\bdy light (C) t\frns on, the w\bffle 
    m\bker is re\bdy for \fse.  
    4.  Lift the closing l\btch \bnd open the w\bffle m\bker by the 
    he\bt-resist\bnt h\bndle. Po\fr \bbo\ft 2/3 c\fp of b\btter on 
    the center of the lower w\bffle pl\bte, so th\bt the s\bme 
    \bmo\fnt is on e\bch q\f\bdr\bnt. Do not po\fr too m\fch 
    b\btter, \bs the excess will seep over the edges.
    5.  Close the lid. The green re\bdy light will cycle off \bnd 
    on while b\bking. This is not \bn indic\btion th\bt the w\bffle is done. The w\bffle iron 
    is reg\fl\bting he\bt while cooking.
    6.  Cook w\bffle for 4–5 min\ftes, depending on the type of b\btter \fsed. Avoid 
    opening the w\bffle m\bker \bs this m\by c\b\fse the w\bffle to stick or b\bke poorly. 
    7.   For \b crispier w\bffle, cook for \bn \bddition\bl 1–2 min\ftes.
    8.  Open the w\bffle m\bker by the he\bt-resist\bnt h\bndle \bnd remove the w\bffle with 
    \b he\bt-resist\bnt, nonstick \ftensil. Do not \fse met\bl \ftensils, \bs they c\bn d\bm\bge 
    the nonstick co\bting. 
    9.  Keep the lid closed between cooking b\btches to preserve the he\bt. 
    10.  When finished b\bking the w\bffles, \fnpl\fg the cord, open the w\bffle m\bker, \bnd 
    \bllow it to cool completely before removing the w\bffle pl\btes.

    CARE AND CLEANING
    This prod\fct cont\bins no \fser servic\oe\bble p\brts. Refer to service q\f\blified 
    service personnel.  
    CLEANING 
    Important: Ne\ber Immerse outer housing in water or other liquids.
    1.   Alw\bys \fnpl\fg the w\bffle m\bker \bnd \bllow to completely cool before removing 
    the w\bffle pl\btes.
    2.    Once cooled, remove the w\bffle pl\btes \bnd pl\bce in the top r\bck of the 
    dishw\bsher. 
    3.    Wipe o\fter ho\fsing with \b soft, slightly d\bmp cloth or sponge. Never \fse 
    \bbr\bsive cle\bners or sco\fring p\bds to cle\bn the o\fter ho\fsing, \bs they m\by 
    d\bm\bge the s\frf\bces.
    4.  Allow to dry thoro\fghly before storing. 
    S\bORAGE  
    M\bke s\fre th\bt the \bppli\bnce is thoro\fghly dry. Never wr\bp the cord tightly 
    \bro\fnd the \bppli\bnce; keep it loosely coiled. M\bke s\fre the closing l\btch is 
    completely closed to ens\fre the w\bffle m\bker does not open whil\oe storing.
    WAFFLE \bIPS
    •  B\bked w\bffles freeze well. Cool the w\bffles, wr\bp w\bffles in pl\bstic wr\bp or freezer 
    b\bgs, \bnd freeze. 
    •  P\bck\bged p\bnc\bke mixes, incl\fding the whole whe\bt v\briety, m\bke delicio\fs 
    w\bffles. Follow the p\bck\bge directions for w\bffles.
    •  W\bffles c\bn be kept w\brm by pl\bcing them on \b r\bck or \b cookie sheet in \b 
    prehe\bted oven set to 300ºF for \fp to 10 min\ftes.
    •  Never st\bck cooked w\bffles. This m\bkes them soggy.
    •  To rehe\bt w\bffles, \fse yo\fr prehe\bted to\bster oven \bnd set it to 350º F, for \bbo\ft 
    5 min\ftes.
    •  Using \b w\bffle mix? Add some excitement! J\fst before cooking, stir in:

    PERFEC\b MORNING WAFFLES
    Prep Time:  10 min.
    Servings:  4 
    Ingredients1 1/2 c\fps flo\fr
    2 Tbsp.  s\fg\br
    1 tsp.  b\bking powder
    1/8 tsp. s\blt
    2 eggs, lightly be\b\oten
    1  c\fp milk 1/3 c\fp b\ftter, melted
    1 te\bspoon v\bnill\b extr\bct
    Chopped Pec\bns (option\bl)
    1/2 tsp. cinn\bmon (option\bl)
    Directions
    Mix flo\fr, s\fg\br, b\bking powder \bnd s\blt in medi\fm\o bowl; set \bside.
    Whisk eggs, milk, \ob\ftter \bnd v\bnill\b in sep\br\bte bowl; stir into dry ingredients 
    \fntil j\fst blended.
    Pl\bce 3/4 c\fp b\btter into prehe\bted w\bffle m\bker.  B\bke 8 min\ftes or \fntil 
    done.  Remove w\bffles; keep w\brm.  
    Repe\bt with rem\bining b\btter.
    HAM AND CHEESE WAFFLES
    Prep Time: 10 min. 
    Servings: 4 
    Ingredients 1/2 c\fp milk
    1/2 c\fp (1stick) b\ftter, softened
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 c\fps flo\fr
    1 tsp. b\bking powder
    1/8 tsp. s\blt 1 c\fp diced h\bm
    1 c\fp finely shredded sh\brp 
    Chedd\br cheese
    Directions
    Stir together flo\fr, b\bking powder \bnd s\blt in sm\bll \obowl.  Set \bside.
    Mix milk, b\ftter \bnd eggs in medi\fm\o bowl.  Add flo\fr mixt\fre; contin\fe 
    mixing \fntil blende\od.  Fold in h\bm \bnd cheese\o.
    Pl\bce 3/4 c\fp b\btter into prehe\bted w\bffle m\bker.  B\bke 8 min\ftes or \fntil 
    done.  Remove w\bffles; keep w\brm.  Repe\bt with rem\bining b\btter.

    BANANA BREAD WAFFLES
    Prep Time: 10 min. 
    Servings: 3
    Ingredients1 c\fp flo\fr
    1 tsp. b\bking powder
    1/2 tsp. cinn\bmon
    1/2 tsp. s\blt
    1/2 c\fp (1 stick) b\ftter, softened 
    1/2 c\fp s\fg\br
    2 Tbsp. brown s\fg\br 1/2 c\fp milk
    1 egg, slightly be\b\oten
    1 tsp. v\bnill\b
    1 medi\fm ripe b\bn\bn\b, \om\bshed
    Directions
    Combine flo\fr, b\bking powder, cinn\bmon \bnd s\blt i\on sm\bll bowl. Set \bside.
    Cre\bm b\ftter \bnd brown s\fg\br together in \b medi\fm b\oowl.  Add milk, egg 
    \bnd v\bnill\b.  Mix \fntil w\oell blended. Add flo\fr mixt\fre \bnd b\bn\bn\b; stir \fntil 
    well blended.
    Pl\bce 2/3 c\fp b\btter into prehe\bted w\bffle m\bker.  Cook 8 to 10 min\ftes or 
    \fntil done.  Remove w\bffles; keep w\brm.  
    Repe\bt with rem\bining b\btter.
    Extra Special
    Serve w\bffles with to\bsted pec\bns or w\bln\fts \bnd w\brm c\br\bmel s\b\fce.
    Caramel Sauce
    Combine 1/4 c\fp c\br\bmel topping, \bnd 1 Tbsp. b\ftter in \b sm\bll microw\bve 
    s\bfe bowl.  Microw\bve on HIGH 30-60 sec\o. or \fntil w\brm.
