    SAFETY INFORMATION
    Please read this owner’s guidePlease take the time to follow the instructions in this owner’s guide carefully. 
    It will help you to properly use your new Bose® product and enjoy its 
    features. Please save  this owner’s guide for future reference.
    The lightning flash with arrowhead  symbol within an equilateral 
    triangle alerts the user  to the presence of uninsulated, dangerous 
    voltage within the syst em enclosure that may be of sufficient 
    magnitude to constitute  a risk of electric shock.
    The exclamation po int within an equilateral triangle alerts the 
    user to the presence of important operating and maintenance 
    instructions in this owner’s guide.
    WARNINGS and CAUTIONS To reduce the risk of fire or electri c shock, do not expose this product 
    to rain or moisture. The product  shall not be exposed  to dripping or 
    splashing, and objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall not be 
    placed on or near the pr oduct. As with any electronic pr oducts, use care 
    not to spill liquids into any part of th e product. Liquids can cause a failure 
    and/or a fire hazard.
     The power supply must  be used indoors only. It is neither designed nor 
    tested for use outdoors, in recreation vehicles, or on boats.
     Make no modifications to the pr oduct or accessories. Unauthorized 
    alterations may compromi se safety, regulatory compliance, and system 
    performance, and will void the warranty.  Where the mains plug or appliance 
    coupler is used as the disconnect 
    device, such disconnect device sh all remain readily operable.
     Do not place any naked flame sources, su ch as lighted candles, on or near 
    the apparatus.
     Contains small parts that may be  a choking hazard. Not suitable for 
    children under age 3.
     Before use, charge the battery using only the po wer supply provided with 
    the system. Refer to char ging instructions in the system owner’s guide. 
    Do not continue charging the battery if  it does not reach full charge within 
    the specified charging time. Overcharging may cause the battery to 
    become hot, ruptur e, or ignite. If you see any heat deformation  or leakage, 
    properly dispose  of the battery.
     Do not attempt to charge the battery  in temperatures outside the range of 
    32°-104°F (0°-40°C).
     Keep batteries out of the r each of children and pets. 
     If the battery begins to l eak, do not allow the liquid  to come in contact with 
    your skin or eyes. If contact has  been made, wash the affected area with 
    plenty of water and seek  medical advice immediately.
     Do not expose the product or battery  to excessive heat, including direct 
    sunlight or fire and storage or use in side cars in hot weather, where it can 
    be exposed to temperatur es in excess of 140°F (60°C). Doing so may 
    cause the battery and power supply to  generate heat, rupture, or ignite. 
    Using the product in this manner also  may result in a loss of performance 
    and a shortened life expectancy.
     If the battery is damaged and ignites,  do not use water to extinguish 
    flames. Instead, use a func tioning fire extinguisher. 
     Do not step on, throw, or drop batteri es or the power supply or expose 
    them to a strong shock.  Do not pierce, crush, dent, or deform the batteries 
    or power supply in any way. If either becomes  deformed, properly dispose 
    of it.
     Do not short-circuit batteries. Avoid storing them around metal objects  such as keys, pocket change , paper clips, and jewelry. 
     Do not dismantle, open , or shred the battery.
     The battery is intended to be used  only with the Bose product and the 
    power supply provided with it.

     This product is inten ded to be used only with the power supply provided.
     After extended periods of  storage, it may be necessary to charge and 
    discharge the battery several time s to obtain maximum performance.
     The cells in the batteri es perform best when oper ating at normal room 
    temperature, 70°F (20°C).
     Replace the SoundLink™ system battery only with a genuine replacement  battery from Bose or an authorized Bose dealer. Bose cannot warrant the 
    safety and compatibility or assure the  operability of batteries from other 
    manufacturers for use in operating the SoundLink system. DO NOT attempt 
    to use the SoundLink system battery  to power other electronics. Doing so 
    may result in permanent damage to  your system and/or personal injury.
     Product labels are located on the bo ttom of the product and on the 
    battery.
    Please dispose of a used or damaged battery promptly and 
    properly,  following all local regulations. Do not incinerate.
    To return a system battery for recy cling, contact Bose or your Bose 
    dealer. In the United States only,  call 1-800-905-2180 or visit the 
    Bose
    ® website at www.Bose.com. For other regions, see the contact 
    information inclu ded in the carton.

    Important Safety Instructions1. Read these instructions –  for all components before using this product.2. Keep these instructions –  for future reference.
    3. Heed all warnings –  on the product and in the owner’s guide.
    4. Follow all instructions.
    5. Do not use this apparatus near water or moisture –  Do not use 
    this product near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, in a 
    wet basement, near a swim ming pool, or anywhere else that water is 
    present. 6. Clean only with a dry cloth –
     and as directed by Bose Corporation. 
    Unplug this product from th e wall outlet before cleaning.
    7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Insta ll in accordance 
    with the manufacturer’s instructions –  To ensure reliable operation 
    of the product and to protect it from  overheating, put the product in a 
    position and location that will not interfere with its proper ventilation. 
    For example, do not place the produc t on a bed, sofa, or similar surface 
    that may block the ventilation openings. Do not put it in a built-in 
    system, such as a bookcase or a  cabinet that may keep air from 
    flowing through its ventilation openings.
    8. Do not install near any heat so urces, such as radiators, heat 
    registers, stoves, or other appa ratus (including amplifiers) that 
    produce heat.
    9. Only use attachments/acce ssories specified by the 
    manufacturer.
    10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched,  particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point 
    where they exit fr om the apparatus.
    11. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused  for long periods of time –  to prevent damage to this product.
    12. Refer all servicing to qualified  service personnel. Servicing is 
    required when the apparatus ha s been damaged in any way: 
    such as power supply cord or plug is damaged; liquid has been 
    spilled or objects have fallen into  the apparatus; the apparatus 
    has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate 
    normally, or has been dropped –  Do not attempt to service this 
    product yourself. Opening or removing covers may expose you to 
    dangerous voltages or other hazards.  Please call Bose to be referred 
    to an authorized service center near you.
    13. To prevent risk of fire or elec tric shock, avoid overloading wall 
    outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles.
    14. Do not let objects or liquids enter the product –  as they may 
    touch dangerous voltage points or sh ort-out parts that could result in 
    a fire or electric shock.
    15. See product enclosure for safety-related markings.
    16. Use proper power sources –  Plug the product into a proper power 
    source, as described in  the operating instructions or as marked on 
    the product.

    The SoundLink Wireless Mu sic System complies with FCC and Industry 
    Canada RF radiation exposure limits set forth for general population. 
    The system must not be co-located or  operating in conjunction with any 
    other antennas or  transmitters.
    This device complies with Part 15 of  the FCC Rules. Operation is subject 
    to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful 
    interference, and (2) th is device must accept any  interference received, 
    including interference that  may cause undesired operation.
    U.S.A. onlyThis equipment has been tested and foun d to comply with the limits for a 
    Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are 
    designed to provide reasonable protectio n against harmful interference in a 
    residential installation. This equipm ent generates, uses, and can radiate 
    radio frequency energy an d, if not installed and used in accordance with the 
    instructions, may cause harmful inte rference to radio communications.

    INTRODUCTION
    Overview
    Thank you for purchasing  the SoundLink™ wireless 
    music system. Now you can enjoy music from your 
    computer in any room you choose, wirelessly.
    Features:

    Check the carton for all the parts shown.
    Save the carton and packing materials, which provide 
    the safest way to transport this product. If any part of the product a
    ppears to be damaged, do not 
    attempt to use it. Contact your authorized Bose dealer 
    immediately or call Bose Cu stomer Service. Refer to

    SYSTEM SETUP
    Activating the system
    Initially, the battery is not fu lly charged and may be in a 
    protection or inactive mode.
    To activate your new system and charge the battery:
    1. Place the SoundLink™ speaker on a flat, stable 
    surface.
    2. Attach the AC adapter for your region (more than one 
    may be included) to the power supply.  3.
    Plug the DC power cord on the power supply into the 
    DC POWER connector on the SoundLink speaker.
    4. Plug the power supply into a live AC outlet.
    CAUTION:  Use this system only  with the provided 
    power supply or a replacement power supply from 
    Bose Corporation.
    Note: To reach full charge, the batt ery requires charging for a minimum of 10 hours. See “Charging the battery” on page 9.
    Your system includes one of these two 
    types of power supplies.

    An AC adapter for use in your country is labeled on the 
    outside of the small bag that contains it. Be sure to use 
    that adapter only.

    Connecting your computer
    1. Make sure that the wireless source light on the 
    SoundLink™ speaker is flashing. 
    If not, press the remote wireless source button. 
    The wireless source light should start flashing.
    2. Make sure your computer is  on and all music applica-
    tions are closed. 3.
    Lift the antenna on the SoundLink USB key to the 
    vertical position and plug  it into a USB port on 
    your computer.
    Confirm that the SoundL ink USB key power light 
    turns on and starts flashing.
    4. Wait a few seconds for your computer to recognize 
    the SoundLink USB key. When  ready, it will automati-
    cally establish a wireless link with the SoundLink 
    speaker. This may take up to 20 seconds the first 
    time, much less after that.

    You may notice the wireless source light and USB key 
    power light start flashing faster as the SoundLink™ 
    system establishes a wireless connection.
    When both lights change from flashing to always 
    on, and you hear a tone from the speaker, your 
    SoundLink™ system is ready to use.
    5. Open the music application on your computer, or 
    navigate to an Internet radio station and play the 
    music you want to hear.
    To disconnect or reconnect,  press the button on 
    the end of the SoundLink USB key. See “Using the 
    USB key” on page 5 for more information.
    Note: While listening to music thro ugh the SoundLink wireless 
    music system, you will not hear  music through your computer’s 
    internal speakers or sound card.
    If you don’t hear music from 
    the SoundLink speaker
    Mac users: Go to System Preferences, Sound  
    settings and make sure “Bose SoundLink Audio” is the 
    selected  Output device.
    Both Mac and PC users:  You may need to restart 
    your music application .

    OPERATION
    System status lights
    The status lights on the SoundLink™ speaker front panel 
    indicate source selectio n and battery condition.
    Using the USB key
    The USB key will automatically  connect your computer 
    with the SoundLink speaker whenever you insert it into a 
    USB port.
    AUXAUDIO IN source (page 7)
    Off: ..... AUX source not selected

    Remote control
    Press any remote button except  Off to 
    turn on your SoundLink™ system. 
    Each time you press a remote button, 
    the front panel light for the selected 
    source flashes briefly.
    Depending on the music application 
    you are using on your computer, you 
    can use the play/pause and skip buttons 
    to control the music playback.
    Note: This remote does not contro l any device plugged into the AUDIO IN connector.
    Play/Pause and skip buttons may not 
    work for Internet radio stations or 
    some music applications.
    Press to turn off the SoundLink system.
    Press  to play or pause the current track on your 
    computer.
    Press  to select your computer as a wireless source.
    Press  to select the AUDIO IN source.
    Press  to increase (+) or decrease (–) the volume.
    Press and hold  for faster adjustment.
    Press  to skip to the beginning of the next track.
    Press  to skip to the beginning of the previous track.
