    Clearing Paper Jams in the Manual Feed Slot

    Troubleshooting
    Resolve a Displayed Message
    This secti\fn describes s\fme \ff messages related t\f the t\fner, mem\fry, and paper. (Where “XXXX” appears in the descripti\fns 
    bel\fw, the t\fner cartridge c\fl\frs black, yell\fw, magenta, \fr cyan appear in the actual messages.)

    •	The t\fner cartridge needs t\f be replaced s\f\fn. Prepare the replacement t\fner cartridge 
    (
    →p.87).
        If this message is displayed while receiving a fax, the inc\fming fax will be st\fred in the 
    mem\fry with\fut being printed.
     Rep\frts may n\ft be printed, even if they are set t\f be printed aut\fmatically.
       If < Continue Printing \fhen Toner Is Low > in  is set t\f , 
    h\fwever, printing will be c\fntinued, but faxes may fade \fr blur.
    
    •	It is rec\fmmended t\f replace the cartridge with a new \fne. (→p.87). Y\fu can c\fntinue 
    printing, but the print quality cann\ft be guaranteed.
    
    •	If there are any j\fbs waiting t\f be sent \fr printed, wait until the j\fbs are c\fmplete. 
    •	Split the j\fb int\f smaller subsets \fr reduce the scanning res\fluti\fn and try t\f send them 
    again (
    →p.53).
    
    •	Print pages successfully scanned \fr cancel the j\fb.
    
    •	Change the < Paper Settings > t\f the size \ff the l\faded paper (→p.27).
    •	When printing with the printer driver, verify that the paper size setting \fn the c\fmputer is 
    c\frrect.

    Resolve an Error Code
    If an err\fr \fccurs, a rep\frt that c\fntains a three-digit err\fr c\fde is printed. L\fcate the err\fr c\fde in the table and f\fll\fw the 
    rec\fmmended acti\fns t\f res\flve the pr\fblem.

    Error CodeCause Action
    #001 A d\fcument jams in the feeder. Rem\fve the jammed d\fcument.
    #003 Transmissi\fn failed due t\f the high 
    v\flume \ff data. When sending a fax:
    •	Reduce the scanning res\fluti\fn, and try t\f send the d\fcument 
    again.
    When receiving a fax:
    •	Reduce the scanning res\fluti\fn \fr ask the sender t\f divide the 
    d\fcument bef\fre sending it again.
    #005 A fax recipient did n\ft resp\fnd 
    within 35 sec\fnds. Repeat the sending pr\fcedure fr\fm the beginning. Additi\fnally, 
    ask the recipient t\f check the fax machine. When making an 
    \fverseas call, add a pause t\f the fax number.
    #012 The recipient’s machine has run \fut 
    \ff paper. Ask the recipient t\f ensure that paper is l\faded in their machine.
    #018 Y\fu cann\ft send a fax because the 
    line is busy \fr disc\fnnected.
    Wait a m\fment, and then try again. If y\fu are still unable t\f send 
    the d\fcument, ask the recipient t\f verify that the fax machine is 
    ready t\f receive a fax.
    N\f pause was added t\f the fax 
    number when attempting an 
    internati\fnal fax transmissi\fn. Add a pause after the c\funtry c\fde \fr in fr\fnt \ff the fax number, 
    and then redial the number. 
    #022 Sending faxes fr\fm a c\fmputer is 
    restricted.

    Verify that the cables are connected 
    properly and that the power is turned

    on or blinking (

    Fax QCan I turn off the incoming ring when receiving a fax?
    └	AYes, but you can turn off the incoming ring for faxes only when you are using   
     mode.

    incoming ring rings only for a short period of time. How do I increase the number

    answering machine to activate only when receiving a voice call?

    Fax QThe connected external telephone has fax functions, but I want to receive a fax not 
    with the external telephone but this machine.

    When b\fth the machine and the external teleph\fne are set t\f use the fax functi\fn, the machine 
    \fr device that first detects the fax signal will receive the fax. T\f always receive fax with the 
    machine, y\fu sh\fuld disable the external teleph\fne’s fax functi\fns.

     QCan I use the scan function when using a machine and drivers that are shared by 
    another person?
    └	ANo, you may not use the scan function when sharing drivers that are installed to 
    another computer. To use the scan function, install the MF Drivers on your computer.
