•Image quality mode automatically changes to  when  is

•Automatic exposure only works in black and white copying. The exposure has to be 
manually adjusted in color copying. Press [Color Start] after setting to the auto mode in 
order to adjust the exposure for color copying.

Removing the Background Color
You can adjust the background color by specifying the level from between 1 and 5 
so that you can erase the background color of the document on the copy.
1Press [Menu].
2Press [((-)] or [)(+)] to select  ➞ press [Set].

Special Features
The machine has the following SPECIAL COPY features. These features allow you 
to sort copies in page order and create special copies easily.
- Collate Copy
Sorts copies in page order.
- Reserve Copy
Reserves the next job while the machine is printing out.
Collate Copy
The collate copy allows you to sort copies in page order. It is convenient when you 
make multiple copies of multiple page documents. 
When Loading Documents in the ADF

3Use the numeric keys to enter the number of copies you want. 
You can set up to 99 copies.
4Press [B&W Start] or [Color Start].
The machine begins scanning from the first page of the document. After scanning, the

Scanning Methods
There are two methods of scanning documents to your computer:
•Using a TWAIN- or WIA- (Windows XP) compliant Windows application
•Using [SCAN] on the operation panel of the machine
IMPORTANT
For better scanning quality for color documents, we recommend that you place 
documents on the platen glass. If you use the ADF, the scanned image might not be 
clear.
