Readthisownersguidecarefullyinitsentiretybefore 
attemptingtoassemblethismachine.Read, 
understand,andfollowallinstructionsonthemachine

Yourchipper-shredderisapowerfultool,nota 
plaything.Therefore,exerciseextremecautionatall 
times.Yourunithasbeendesignedtoperformtwo 
jobs;tochipandshredvegetationfoundinanormal 
yard.Donotuseitforanyotherpurpose. 
Neverallowchildrenunderage16tooperatetheunit. 
Children16yearsandoldershouldonlyoperatethe 
unitundercloseparentalsupervision.Only

slacksandshirt.Shirtandslacksthatcoverthearms 
andlegsandsteel-toodshoesarerecommended.Do 
notwearloosefittingclothesorjewelryandsecurehair 
soitisaboveshoulderlength.Theycanbecaughtin 
movingparts.Neveroperateaunitinbarefeet, 
sandalsorsneakers.Wearglovsswhenfeeding 
matedalinthechipperchuteorshredderhopper. Neverplaceyourhands,feet,oranypartofyourbody 
intotheshredderhopper,chipperchute,discharge 
opening,ornearanymovingpartwhiletheengineis 
running.Keepclearofthedischargeopeningatall 
times.Ifitbecomesnecassarytopushmatedalinto 
thechipperchuteorshredderhopper,useasmall 
diameterstick,NOTYOURHANDS. 
Ifitisnecessaryforanyreasontounclogthefeed 
intakeordischargeopeningsortoinspectorrepairany 
partofthemachinewhereamovingpartcancomein 
contactwithyourbodyorclothing,stopthemachine, 
allowittocool,disconnectthesparkplugwirefromthe 
sparkplugandmoveitawayfromthesparkplug 
beforeattemptingtounclog,inspectorrepair. 
Donotoperateunitwhileundertheinfluenceofalcohol 
ordrugs. 
Themachineshouldonlybeoperatedonalevel 
surface.Neveroperateyourunitonaslippery,wet, 
muddyoricysurface.Keepyourworkareacleanand 
clearofbranchesorobstacleswhichcouldcauseyou 
tostumbleandfall.Donotoverreach.Maintaining 
properfootingandbalanceisessentialtopreventing 
accidents. 
Donotallowanaccumulationofprocessedmaterialto 
buildupinthedischargeareaasthiswillprevent 
properdischargeandcanresultinkick-backfromthe

Keepyourfaceandbodybackfromchipperchuteto 
avoidaccidentalbouncebackofanymaterial. 
Donottransportmachinewhileengineisrunning. 
Ifthecuttingmechanismstdkesaforeignobjectorif 
yourmachineshouldstartmakinganunusualnoiseor 
vibration,immediatelystoptheengineandallowthe 
machinetocometoacompletestop.Disconnectthe 
sparkplugwireandmoveitawayfromthesparkplug. 
Takethefollowingsteps. 
a.Inspectfordamage. 
b.Repairorreplaceanydamagedparts. 
o.Checkforanyloosepartsandtightentoassure 
continuedsafeoperation. 
Neverattempttoattachorremovecatcherbagwhen 
engineisrunning.Shuttheengineoffandwaitforthe  
						

							  
impellertocometoacompletestop.Theimpeller 
continuestorotateforafewsecondsaftertheengine 
isshutoff.Neverplaceanypartofthebodyinthe 
impellerareauntilyouaresuretheimpellerhas 
stoppedrotating.

Donottouch. 
Donotallowleavesorotherdebristobuild-upon 
enginesmuffler.Thedebriscouldigniteandcausea

Useextremecareinhandlinggasolineandotherfuels. 
Theyareextremelyflammableandthevaporsare

children.Checkandaddfuelbeforestartingthe 
engine.Neverremovegascaporaddfuelwhile 
theengineisrunning.Allowenginetocoolat leasttwominutesbeforerefueling. 
b.Replacogasolinecapsecurelyandwipeoffany 
spilledgasolinebeforestartingtheengineasit

theimpellerandallmovingpartshavestopped. 
Disconnectthesparkplugwireandkeepwireaway 
fromsparkplugtopreventaccidentalstarting.Donot 
useflammablesolutionstocleanairfilter. 
Checkthebladeandenginemountingscrewsat 
frequentintervalsforpropertightness.Alsovisually 
inspectbladesforwearand/ordamage(e.g.,bent, 
cracked).Replacewithbladeswhichmeetoriginal 
equipmentspecifications. 
Keepallnuts,bolts,andscrewsfighttobesurethe 
equipmentisinsafeworkingcondition. 
Nevertamparwithsafetydevices.Checktheirproper 
operationregularly. 
Afterstrikingaforeignobject,immediatelystopthe 
engine,disconnectthesparkplugwirefromthespark 
plug,andthoroughlyinspecttheunitforanydamage. 
Repairdamagebeforestartingandoperatingunit. 
Donotalterortamperwiththeenginesgovernor 
setting.Thegovernorcontrolsthemaximumsafe 
operatingspeedoftheengine.Over-speedingthe 
engineisdangerousandwillcausedamagetothe 
engineandtoothermovingpartsofthemachine.
