    FRU Replacement Strategy
    Before Replacing Parts
Ensure that all s oftware fixes are installed prior to
replacing any FRUs listed in this manual.
Use the following strategy to prevent unnecessary FRU
replac ement and s ervic e expens e:
    ·
If you are instructed to replace a FRU and that
does not correct the problem, reinstall the
    original FRU before you continue.
    ·
Some c omputers have both a proc ess or board and a
mainboard. If you are instructed to replac e either the
proc ess or board or the mainboard, and the first board
that you replac ed does not c orrect the problem,
reinstall the original board, and then replac e the other
(proc ess or or s ystem) board.
    ·
If an adapter or devic e c onsists of more than one
FRU, an error c ode may be c aus ed by any of the
FRUs. Bef ore replacing the adapter or device,
remove the FRUs, one by one, to s ee if the
symptoms change. Replac e only the f aulty FRU.

    Safety Notices (Multi-lingual Translations)
In this manual, safety notices appear in English with a page
number ref erenc e to the appropriate multi-lingual, translated
saf ety notic e f ound in this s ection.
The following s af ety notic es are provided in English, French,
German, Italian, and Spanis h languages.
    Safety Notice 1
Bef ore the c omputer is powered-on after FRU
replacement, make sure all screws, springs, or other
small parts are in plac e and are not left loos e inside the
computer. Verif y this by s haking the c omputer and
listening for rattling s ounds. Metallic parts or metal flakes
can c aus e elec tric al shorts.
Prima di acc endere lelaboratore dopo c he è stata
    allinterno dellelaboratore. Verificare ciò scuotendo
    lelaboratore e pres tando attenzione ad eventuali rumori;
eventuali parti o pezzetti metallici poss ono provoc are
    cortocircuiti peric olos i.
c or t oc irc u it os el éc tric os .
