    changingthefactorysettingonthethermostat,readthe

    Thiswaterheatershallnotbeconnectedtoanyheatingsystems 
    orcomponent(s)usedwithanon-potablewaterheating 
    appliance. 
    Ifawaterheaterisinstalledinaclosedwatersupplysystem; 
    suchasonehavingaback-flowpreventer,checkvalve,water 
    meterwithacheckvalve,etc..,inthecoldwatersupply;means 
    shallbeprovidedtocontrolthermalexpansion.Contactthe 
    localutilityorlocalSearsServiceCenteronhowtocontrolthis 
    situation. 
    NOTE:Toprotectagainstuntimelycorrosionofhotand 
    coldwaterfittings,itisstronglyrecommendedthatall-elec- 
    tricunionsorcouplingsbeinstalledonthiswaterheater 
    whenconnectedtocopperpipe. 
    Theillustrationshowstheattachmentofthewaterpipingtothe 
    waterheater.Thewaterheaterisequippedwith_Ainchwater 
    connections. 
    NOTE:Ifusingcoppertubing,soldertubingtoanadapter 
    beforeattachingtheadaptertothecoldwaterinletconnec- 
    tion.Donotsolderthecoldwatersupplylinedirectlytothe 
    coldwaterinlet.Itwillharmthediptubeanddamagethe 
    tank. 
    •Lookatthetopcoverofthewaterheater.Thewateroutletis 
    markedhot.Puttwoorthreeturnsofteflontapearoundthe 
    threadedendofthethreaded-to-sweatcouplingandaround 
    bothendsofthe¾threadednipple.Usingflexibleconnec- 
    tors,connectthehotwaterpipetothehotwateroutleton 
    thewaterheater. Lookatthetopcoverofthewaterheater.Thecoldwater 
    inletismarkedcold.Puttwoorthreeturnsofteflontape 
    aroundthethreadedendofthethreaded-to-sweatCOul_ling 
    andaroundbothendsofthe_Athreadednipple.Usingflexi- 
    bleconnectors,connectthecoldwaterpipetothecoldwater 
    inletofthewaterheater. 
    NOTE:Thiswaterheaterissuperinsulatedtominimize 
    heatlossfromthetanLFurtherreductioninheatloss 
    canbeaccomplishedbyinsulatingthehotwaterlines 
    fromthewaterheater.
