Safety notice 1 Before the computer is powered on after FRU replacement, make sure all screws, springs, and other small parts are in place and are not left loose inside the computer. Verify this by shaking the computer and listening for rattling sounds. Metallic parts or metal flakes can cause electrical shorts. Seek medical care if any symptoms caused by the fluid are present after washing. Strategy for replacing FRUs Before replacing parts: Make sure that all software fixes, drivers, and BIOS downloads are installed before replacing any FRUs listed in this manual. After a system board is replaced, ensure that the latest BIOS is loaded to the system board before completing the service action. To download software fixes, drivers, and BIOS, follow the steps below: 1. Go to http://support.lenovo.com. 2. Enter a serial number or select a product or use Lenovo smart downloading. 3. Select the BIOS/Driver/Applications and download. 4. Follow the directions on the screen and install the necessary software.
