    This message indicates a jam in one of the output areas of the finisher. To clear area I:
    1Open the finisher top cover and remove any jams.
    2Close the top cover.
    3Push the latch in and hold it.
    4Roll the finisher away from the printer.
    5Release the latch.

    Rotate the accumulator knob counterclockwise to move the paper down.

    250 Paper Jam Check MP Feeder
    1Slowly pull the jam straight out of the multipurpose feeder, except when feeding banner paper (11.69 X 48 in.). 
    Clear banner paper jams only in the paper feed direction.
    If the paper will not come out, proceed with step 2.
    2Open the top cover.
    3Remove the paper on the transfer belt.
    Warning:Do not touch, drop, or place anything on the transfer belt. Touching the surface of the transfer belt or 
    placing items on it may cause damage.
    If banner paper is jammed inside the printer, remove the jam by rolling up the paper from inside the printer until the 
    entire banner sheet is free.
    4Close the top cover.
    5Press .

    24 Paper Jam Check Tray 
    Jams in five areas result in a 24 Paper Jam message, where x represents the tray number where the jam has 
    occurred. Paper jam messages 241–244 indicate a jam has occurred in one of the paper trays. A 249 Paper Jam Check 
    Tray  message indicates a jam has occurred in the high capacity feeder. See Identifying jam areas for tray 
    numbering.

    1Pull out the tray indicated on the display.
    2Remove any wrinkled or creased paper.

    If the paper jam message continues, check and clear all paper from the paper path.

    A 249 Paper Jam Check Tray  message indicates a jam has occurred in the high capacity feeder.
    Note:If you have an optional printer cabinet, the high capacity feeder will be identified as tray 3.
    1Open the top cover.

    Adjusting operator panel brightness and contrast
    The LCD operator panel contrast and brightness can be adjusted through the Utilities menu. For more information, see the 
    Menus and Messages Guide.
    The LCD Brightness and LCD Contrast settings are adjusted separately. To change the LCD Brightness or LCD Contrast 
    settings:
    1Make sure your printer is on.
    2Press   on the operator panel.
    3Press  until  Settings appears, and then press  .
    4Press  until  Utilities Menu appears, and then press  .
    5Press   until   appears next to the LCD setting you want to change, and then press  .
    6Press   to increase the brightness or contrast, or press   to decrease the brightness or contrast.
    7When the adjustment is complete, press  .
    This saves this setting as the new user default and the printer returns to Ready.
    Disabling operator panel menus
    Since many people could be using the printer, an administrator may choose to lock the operator panel menus to keep 
    others from changing menu settings from the operator panel.
    To disable the operator panel menus so that changes cannot be made to the printer default settings:
    1Turn the printer off.
    Note:Disabling the operator panel menus does not prevent access to Print and Hold functionality.
    2Press and hold   and   while turning the printer on.
    3Release both buttons when Performing Self Test appears on the display.
    The printer performs its power-on sequence, and then Config Menu appears on the first line of the display.
    4Press  until  Panel Menus appears, and then press  .
    5Press  until  Disable appears, and then press  .
    The following messages appear briefly: Submitting Selection and Disabling Menus. The operator panel 
    returns to Panel Menus.
    6Press  until  Exit Config Menus appears, and then press  .
    Activating Menu Changes appears. The menus are disabled. 
    Resetting the Printer appears briefly followed by a clock. The operator panel then returns to Ready.
