    By using the Setup menu, you can make 
    various adjustments t\Vo items such as picture 
    and sound.
    You can also set a \Vlanguage for the subtitles 
    and the Setup menu, among other things\V. For 
    details on each Setup menu item, see pages 23 
    to 27.
    OSD Initial language \b\ietting\b
    During the first use of\V this unit, the in\Vitial 
    language setup menu \Vappears on your TV 
    screen. You must complete initial language 
    selection before using the unit. E\Vnglish will be 
    selected as the initial \Vlanguage.
    1. \bress 1 (POWER) to turn the unit on. The 
    language setup menu \Vwill appear on the\V 
    screen.
    2. Use U u I i to select a language then 
    press  ENTER. 
    The confirm menu will appear\V.
    3. Use I i to select the [Enter] then press  
    ENTER to finish the language\V setup.

    The Display Mode setting works only when the 
    TV Aspect mode is set to 4:3.

    Displays a wide picture with bands on th\Ve 
    upper and lower portions of the screen.
    [Panscan]
    Automatically displays the wide picture 
    on the entire screen and cuts off th\Ve 
    portions that do not fit. \fIf the disc/file is not 
    compatible with \ban Scan, the picture is 
    displayed at Letterbox ratio.)

    Sets the output resolution of the H\VDMI video 
    signal. Refer to page 19 or detail\Vs about the 
    resolution setting.

    If the HDMI OUT jac\Vk is connected to 
    TVs providing display information \fEDID), 
    automatically selects the resolution best 
    suited to the connected TV.

    Audio
    5.1 Speaker Setup
    Make the following settings for the built-in 5.1 
    channel surround decoder.
    1. Select [5.1 Speaker Setup] on the [Audio] 
    menu.
    2. \bress  ENTER.
    The [5.1 S\bEAKER] ap\Vpears.
    3. Use I i to select the desired speaker.
    4. Adjust options usin\Vg U u I i buttons.
    5. Returns to the previous menu by pressing 
    O RETURN.
    [Speake\f selection]
    Select a speaker that you want to adjust.
    NOTE
    Certain speaker settings are prohibited by the 
    Dolby Digital licensing agreement.
    [Size]
    Since the speaker settings are fixed, you 
    cannot change the s\Vettings.
    [Volume]
    \bress I i to adjust the outpu\Vt level of the 
    selected speaker.
    Front L/R : 0 ~ -5 
    SubWoofer, Rear L/R, Center : 5 ~ -5
    [Distance]
    After you connected speakers to your unit, 
    set the Distance b\Vetween the speakers and 
    your listening point if the \Vdistance of Center 
    or Rear speakers is bigger than t\Vhe distance 
    of Front speakers. This allows the sound 
    from each speaker to reach the listener 
    at the same time. \bress I i to adjust the 
    Distance of the se\Vlected speaker. This 
    distance is equiva\Vlent to a difference of the 
    distance between Center or Rear speaker 
    and Front speakers.
    [Test]
    Select [Speaker Test Start] by using the U u 
    and press  ENTER. \bress  ENTER again 
    to stop. Adjust the volume to match the 
    volume of test signals memorized in the 
    system.
    DR\f (Dynamic Range \fontrol) 
    Make the sound clear \Vwhen the volume is 
    turned down \fDolby Digital only). Set to [On] 
    for this effect.
    Vocal 
    Select [On] to mix karaoke channels into 
    normal stereo.
    This function is effective for multi-channel 
    karaoke DVDs only.

    HD AV Sync
    Sometimes Digital TV encounters a delay 
    between  picture and sound. If this happens 
    you can compensate by setting a delay on the 
    sound so that it effectively ‘waits’ for the picture 
    to arrive: this is called \VHD AV Sync. Use U u 
    \fon the remote control) to scroll up and down 
    through the delay amount, which you can set 
    at anything between 0 and 300m sec\V.
    Semi Karaoke 
    When a chapter/ title/ track is fully finished, this 
    function shows the score in the screen with a 
    fanfare sound.
    [On]
    When you finished singing a score will 
    appear on the screen.
    [Off ]
    Fanfare and score do not appear on\V the 
    screen.
    NOTE
    •  DVD, DVD Karaoke discs with more than 2 
    tracks are available discs for this function.
    •   When you watch movies, “off ” the Semi 
    Karaoke at the SETU\b menu or enjoy it without 
    connecting the MIC if the\V fanfare or score 
    appears during changing a chapter.
    •   This function operate on the DVD/CD mode.
    •   The Semi Karaoke function is available only 
    when a microphone is connected. 
    \fonnecting \bpeaker\b
    You can set up wireless connection manually, 
    when your connection is not comple\Vted. Refer 
    to page 16.
    Lock (Parental \fontrol)
    Initial Setting the Area \fode:
    When you use this unit f\Vor the first time, you 
    have to set the Area Code.
    1. Select the [Lock] menu and then\V press i.
    2. \bress i.
    To access the [Lock] options, you must 
    input the password you have created. Input 
    a password and press  ENTER. Enter it 
    again and press  ENTER to verify. If you 
    make a mistake before pressing  ENTER, 
    press CLEAR.
    3. Select the first character using U u buttons.
    4. \bress  ENTER and select the second 
    character using U u buttons.
    5. \bress  ENTER to confirm your Area code 
    selection.
    Rating
    Blocks playback of rated DVDs based on their \V
    contents. Not all discs ar\Ve rated.
    1. Select [Rating] on the [Lock] menu then 
    press i.
    2. Input a password and press  ENTER.
    3. Select a rating from 1 to 8 using the U u 
    buttons.
    [Rating 1-8]
    Rating one \f1) has th\Ve most restrictions and 
    rating eight \f8) is t\Vhe least restrictive.
    [Unlock]
    If you select unlock, parental control is not 
    active and the disc pla\Vys in full.
    4. \bress  ENTER to confirm your rating 
    selection.

    You can enter or change password.
    1. Select [\bassword] on the [Lock] menu and 
    then press i.
    2. \bress  ENTER.
    3. Input a password and press  ENTER.
      To change the password, press  ENTER 
    when the [Change] option is h\Vighlighted. 
    Input a password and press  ENTER. Enter 
    it again and press  ENTER to verify.
    4. \bress  HOME to exit the menu.
    NOTE
    If you forget your password, you can clear it us\Ving 
    the following steps:
    1.  Select the [Setup] menu on the \V[Home] menu.
    2.  Input the 6-digit number “210499” and press 
     ENTER. The password is cleared.
    Area \fode
    Enter the code of the\V area whose standards 
    were used to rate the DVD video disc, based 
    on the list on page\V 40.
    1. Select [Area Code] on the [Lock] menu then 
    press i.
    2. Input a password and press  ENTER.
    3. Select the first character using U u buttons.
    4. \bress  ENTER and select the second 
    character using U u buttons.
    5. \bress  ENTER to confirm your Area code 
    selection.

    DivX VOD section in the device setup menu.

    USB port.

    If you select the [Movie], [\bhoto] or [Music] 
    option when you connect up to two 
    devices, it appears as be\Vlows. Select a 
    media then press  ENTER.

    •   For the most Audio CD and DVD-ROM discs, 
    playback starts automatically.
    •   The unit plays only music file \Vcontained in the 
    USB storage device or disc automatically.

    angles.
    NOTE
    If any button is not pressed for a few seconds, the 
    on-screen display disappears.

    When you play a DVD which contains s\Veveral 
    menu, you can select the menu you want 
    using the Menu.
    1. \bress DISC MENU.
    The disc’s menu appears.
    2. Select the menu by using U u I i.
    3. \bress B (PLAY), MONO/STEREO to confirm.
    To di\bplay the DVD title D\fD
    When you play a DVD which contains s\Veveral 
    title, you can select the title you want using the 
    Menu.
    1. \bress TITLE.
    The disc’s title appears.
    2. Select the menu by pressing U u I i.
    3. \bress B (PLAY), MONO/STEREO to confirm.
    1.5 time\b \bpeed playback D\fD
    The 1.5 speed allows you to watch the pictures 
    and listen to the sound quicker than playing at 
    a normal speed.
    1. During playback, press B (PLAY), MONO/
    STEREO to play at 1.5 times spe\Ved. “BX1.5” 
    appears on the scr\Veen.
    2. \bress B (PLAY), MONO/STEREO again to 
    exit.
    Screen Saver
    The screen saver appears when you leave the 
    unit in Stop mode for about five minutes.
     
    Starting play from \belected

    To start playing at any chosen time on t\Vhe file 
    or title.
    1. \bress  INFO/DISPLAY during playback.
    2. \bress U u to select the time clock i\Vcon and
    “--:--:--” appears.
    3. Input the required start time in hours, 
    minutes, and seconds from left to right. If 
    you enter the wrong numbers, press CLEAR 
    to remove the numbers you entered. Then 
    input the correct numbers. 
    For example, to find a scene at 1\V hour, 10 
    minutes, and 20 seconds, enter “11020” by 
    using numerical buttons.
    4. \bress  ENTER to confirm. \blayback starts 
    from the selected time.
    Re\bume playback 
    D\fD Div\b ACD MP3 WMA 
    The unit records the point where you pressed 
    the x \fSTO\b) depending on the\V disc. 
    If “Xx \fResume Stop)” appears on the sc\Vreen 
    briefly, press B (PLAY), MONO/STEREO to 
    resume playback \ffrom the scene point\V). 
    If you press x \fSTO\b) twice or unload the\V disc, 
    “x”\fComplete Stop) appears on the \Vscreen. 
    The unit will clear\V the stopped point. 
    NOTE
    The resume point may be cleared when a button 
    is pressed \ffor example;
