Shooting Features
Used for general shooting. Settings can be 
adjusted to suit the shooting conditions and the 
type of shot you  want to capture.
• You can change how the camera selects the 
area of the frame to focus on by changing the 
AF area mode  setting (A85).
The default setting is  Target finding AF 
( A 52).

When a scene is selected, camera settings are automatically optimized for the 
selected scene.

Displaying a Description of Each Scene Mode (Help Display)
Select a scene and move the zoom control 
(A 1) toward  g(j ) to view a description of 
that scene. To return to the previous screen, 
move the zoom control toward  g(j ) again.
Tips and Notes
• When you point the camera at the subject, the camera automatically 
recognizes the shooting scene mode from the list below and adjusts the 
shooting settings  accordingly.

• The frame rate for continuous shooting may vary depending on the current image 
mode setting, the memory card used, or shooting conditions.

•When you point the camera at a dog or cat, the camera detects the pet’s face and

Shooting Time-lapse Movies
The camera can automatically capture 300 still images at a specified interval to 
create time-lapse movies ( e1080/30p ) that are approximately 10 seconds 
long.

3Stabilize the camera by using a tool such as a tripod.

•Set exposure compensation ( A49) before 
releasing the shutter for the first image. 
Exposure compensation  cannot be changed 
after the first image is  captured. Focus and 
hue are fixed when the first image is 
captured.
