Shooting Features
Used for general shooting. Settings can be 
adjusted to suit the shooting conditions and the 
type of shot you  want to capture.
• You can change how the camera selects the 
area of the frame to focus on by changing the 
AF area mode  setting (A85).
The default setting is  Target finding AF 
( A 52).

When a scene is selected, camera settings are automatically optimized for the 
selected scene.

Displaying a Description of Each Scene Mode (Help Display)
Select a scene and move the zoom control 
(A 1) toward  g(j ) to view a description of 
that scene. To return to the previous screen, 
move the zoom control toward  g(j ) again.
Tips and Notes
• When you point the camera at the subject, the camera automatically 
recognizes the shooting scene mode from the list below and adjusts the 
shooting settings  accordingly.

landscape .

-While the  j icon on the shooting screen is displayed in green, press the 
shutter-release button all the way to ca pture a series of images which are 
combined into a single image and saved.
- Once the shutter-release butto n is pressed all the way, hold the camera still until

•While the shutter-release button is held a ll the way down, the camera shoots up to 
about 7 images continuously at a rate of  about 7.9 fps (when image mode is set to 
P ).
• The frame rate for continuous shooting may vary depending on the current image 
mode setting, the memory card used, or shooting conditions.
• Focus, exposure, and hue are fixed at the values determined with the first image in

•Macro mode (A 45) is enabled and the camera au tomatically zooms to the closest 
position at which it can focus.
• You can move the focus area. Press the  k button, use the multi selector  HIJK

•When you point the camera at a dog or cat, the camera detects the pet’s face and 
focuses on it. By default, the camera dete cts a dog or cat face and automatically 
releases the shutter (pet portrait auto release).

Shooting Time-lapse Movies
The camera can automatically capture 300 still images at a specified interval to 
create time-lapse movies ( e1080/30p ) that are approximately 10 seconds 
long.

3Stabilize the camera by using a tool such as a tripod.

•Set exposure compensation ( A49) before 
releasing the shutter for the first image. 
Exposure compensation  cannot be changed 
after the first image is  captured. Focus and 
hue are fixed when the first image is 
captured.
• The shutter is automatically released  for the second and subsequent images.
• The monitor may turn off while the  camera is not capturing...

Shooting with Easy Panorama
