•After beginning motion picture recording, the amount of defocus will vary depending on the

•Aperture is controlled within the range of appropriate exposure during the recording of a motion
picture, so the aperture may not actually change even when the slide bar is moved depending
on the brightness of the subject, and the blurriness may not change.
(When recording dark scenes in rooms etc., the aperture may remain fully open and leave the
defocus state unchanged, even when you move the slide bar from end to end.)
•Depending on the lens used, you may hear a sound from the lens when the Defocus Control is

Taking Pictures with Your Favorite Settings
    (Program AE Mode)
The camera automatically sets the shutter speed and the aperture value according to the
    brightness of the subject.
You can take pictures with greater freedom by changing various settings in the [Rec]
    menu.
Set Recording Mode to [ ].
•For details on setting up Recording Mode, refer to P29.
    Note
•The shutter speed is automatically set between about 20 seconds and 1/4000th of a second in
    the following cases.
–When the [Sensitivity] is set to [ISO160].–When the aperture value is set to F3.5 [when the interchangeable lens (H-PS14042,
    H-FS014042) is attached].
–When the aperture value is set to F2.5 [when the interchangeable lens (H-H014) is attached].

In Program AE Mode, you can change the preset aperture value and shutter speed without
changing the exposure. This is called Program Shift.
You can make the background more blurred by decreasing the aperture value or record a
moving subject more dynamically by slowing the shutter speed when taking a picture in
    Program AE Mode.
1Press the shutter button halfway and display the
aperture value and shutter speed value on the screen.
2While the values are displayed (about 10 seconds),
perform the Program Shift by rotating the control dial.
    •
During display of the numerical values, each press of the
cursor button 3 switches between Program Shift and
    Exposure Compensation. (P83)
•Rotate the control dial to display the [Expo.Meter] B. (P155)•The Program Shift indication A appears on the screen when Program Shift is activated.•To cancel Program Shift, turn the camera off or rotate the control dial until the Program
    Shift indication disappears.
Program Shift is easily canceled by setting [Fn Button Set] on the [Custom] menu to [One
    Push AE]. (P107)
    ∫Example of Program Shift
[When the interchangeable lens (H-PS14042) is used]
    Note
    •
EV is an abbreviation of [Exposure Value].
The EV changes with the aperture value or the shutter speed.
•If the exposure is not adequate when the shutter button is pressed halfway, the aperture value
and shutter speed turn red and blink.
•Program Shift is canceled and the camera returns to normal Program AE Mode if more than
10 seconds pass after Program Shift is activated. However, the Program Shift setting is
    memorized.
•Program Shift will only allow adjustments to be made when there is an adequate amount of
    light.
•Program Shift is available in all [Sensitivity] settings except [ ].
