This mode allows you to display pictures recorded by holding the camera vertically or pictures rotated in [ROTATE] function in the rotated direction. 1Select [ON] to set it. When you select [OFF], the pictures are displayed without being rotated. Refer to P47 for how to play back pictures. When you take pictures by holding the camera vertically, read “Tips for taking good pictures” on P30 carefully. The direction detection function (P31) may not work properly on pictures recorded by aiming the camera up or down. When playing back rotated pictures in multi playback, pictures appear in original orientation. You can rotate and display pictures by using [ROTATE] function even if you do not take pictures by holding the camera vertically. When you connect the camera to a TV and play back a picture vertically, it may be blurry. This feature allows you to write print information into the media and to use such information on the DPOF-compliant system. If the file is not based on the DCF standard, the DPOF print setting cannot be set. DCF is an abbreviation of [Design rule for Camera File system], stipulated by JEITA [Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association]. In general, the data writing speed of the SD memory card reduces when recording and deletion are repeated. In this case, recording may stop in the middle while you are recording motion pictures. We recommend you to clean up the card using the camera before recording motion pictures. 1Select [YES] to start the clean-up. [CLEAN UP] is a function to recover the speed of writing into a free space in the card. Therefore, pictures and data already recorded in the card will not be erased. When you start clean-up, it may take time to complete. Depending on the type of card, [CLEAN UP] may not be effective. [CLEAN UP] does not support MultiMediaCard. During clean-up do not turn the camera off. When you clean up the card, use a battery with sufficient battery power (P14) or AC adaptor (DMW-AC5; optional).
