69 Troubleshooting During normal broadcast (VHF/UHF) Symptoms Power does not turn ON Remote control does not function Image shakes Image is not clear Color patches or no color Image appears doubled or tripled. Spots appear in images, images shake, or color patches appear in the four corners. When the TV set is turned on in a dark room, the outer edges of the screen spark momentarily. Unclear or overly bright colors on parts of the screen Left and right ends of the screen, columns and frames appear curved. A black stripe appears for a moment when changing channels using the VCR. During Panasonic AUTO mode, the screen size sometimes changes. Images disappear at the top and bottom of the screen During ZOOM or JUST modes, the image is cut off at the top and bottom. A clicking and buzzing sound is made when the TV is turned on.Checks • Is the power plug plugged in? • If the power does not turn on using the remote, check if the TV set is turned on. • Are the batteries dead or inserted incorrectly? • Is the remote control sensor in direct light of florescent lamps or other strong sources of light? • Is the antenna or antenna cable old, broken or shorted? • Is the antenna cable connected properly? • When using a VCR and selecting channels on the TV, is the TV/VIDEO mode for the VCR set to TV? • Is the antenna facing the right direction? • Is the antenna receiving any signals reflected off mountains or buildings. • Is the TV being affected by geomagnetism or other interference (automobiles and trains, high voltage power lines, neon, motors, magnetic steel frames, steel windows, etc.)? Turn off the power for approx. 20 min. and turn back on or change positioning of the TV set. If this does not fix the problem, the TV needs magnetic shielding. • Due to the internal structure of the CRT set, some parts of the fluorescent components spark, (created by high voltage) when the TV set is turned on. This is not a malfunction. • When white is displayed on a certain part of the screen for a while, the white portion tends to tint with color. When the bright image disappears, the screen will return to its normal color. • Receiving broadcast or changes in brightness on the screen can cause curves on the screen. • The image distorts when channels are changed. • Depending on the program content, even when the screen is supposed to automatically zoom, if the beginning scene is dark, it may take a while for it to zoom. • During a 4:3 screen, if the top and bottom of the image is dark, it may zoom. • When using 16:9 image software, there is no picture at the top and bottom of the screen (cinema vision size software, etc.). • Has the screen position been changed? If so, adjust screen positioning. • This is the sound of the Geomagnetic correction function creating a beautiful color picture. This is not a malfunction.Page – 19 9 – – 10, 11, 12 – – – – – – – – 24, 25 – – 34 59
