    a.Makesurethatthepowercordispluggedintoasurgesuppressor,andthatthesurgesuppressorisplugged 
    intoaproperlygroundedoutlet(seepage7).Useonlyasingle-outletsurgesuppressorthatisUL1449 
    r=stedasatransientvoltagesurgesuppressor(TVSS).ThesurgesuppressormusthaveaULsuppressed 
    voltageratingof400voltsorlessandaminimumsurgedissipationof450joules.Thesurgesuppressor 
    mustbeelectdcaUyratedfor120voltsACand15amps. 
    b.Afterthepowercordhasbeenpluggedin,makesurethatthekeyisinsertedintotheconsoleasfarasitwill 
    go.SeestepIonpage9. 
    c.Checkthecircuitbreakerlocatedonthetreadmillnearthe 
    powercord.Iftheswitchprotrudesasshown,thecircuit 
    breakerhastripped.Toresetthecircuitbreaker,waitforfive

    decreaseandthewalkingbeltmaybepermanentlydamaged. 
    RemovethekeyandUNPLUGTHEPOWERCORD.Usingthe

    wise,1/4ofaturn.WhenthewalkingbeltIspropedytightened, 
    youshouldbeabletolifteachsideofthewalkingbelt3to4

    thewalkingbelt.Pluginthepowercord,insertthekeyandrun

    7.SYMPTOM:Thewalkingbeltslipswhenwalkedon 
    a.Ifthewalkingbeltslipswhenwalkedon,firstremovethekeyand 
    UNPLUGTHEPOWERCORD.Usingtheallenwrench.,tum 
    bothrearrolleradjustmentboltsclockwise,1/4ofaturn.When 
    thewalkingbeltiscorrectlytightened,youshouldbeabletolift 
    eachsideofthewalkingbelt3to4inchesoffthewalkingplat- 
    form.Becarefultokeepthewalkingbeltcentered.Pluginthe 
    powercord,Insertthekeyandcarefullywalkonthetreadmillfor 
    afewminutes.Repeatuntilthewalkingbeltispropedytightened.

    Ifyourgoalistostrengthenyourcardiovascularsystem, 
    yourexercisemustbeaerobic.Aerobicexerciseis 
    activitythatrequireslargeamountsofoxygenforpro- 
    longedpededsoftime.ThisIncreasesthedemandon 
    thehearttopumpbloodtothemuscles,andonthe 
    lungstooxygenatetheblood.Foraerobicexercise, 
    adjustthespeedandInclineuntilyourheartrateisnear 
    thehighestnumberinyourtrainingzone. 
    HOWTOMEASUREYOUHEARTRATE 
    EXERCISEINTENSITY 
    Whetheryourgoalistobumfatortostrengthenyour 
    cardiovascularsystem,thekeytoachievingthedesired 
    resultsistoexercisewiththeproperIntensity.The 
    properIntensitylevelcanbefoundbyusingyourheart 
    rateasaguide.Thechartatthebottomofthispage 
    showsrecommendedheartratesforfatburningand 
    aerobicexercise. 
    Tofindtheproperheartrateforyou,firstfindyourage 
    atthetopofthechart(agesareroundedofftothe 
    nearesttenyears).Next,findthethreenumbersbelow 
    yourage.Thethreenumbersdefineyourtraining 
    zone.Thelowesttwonumbersarerecommended 
    heartratesforfatburning,andthehighestnumberis 
    therecommendedheartrateforaerobicexercise.
