These are the main components of your printer. Note that all 
illustrations on this User’s Guide are from the CLP-300N and 
that some parts may be different from your printer.

your printer.

Unpacking
1Remove the printer and all of the accessories from the 
packing carton. Make sure that the printer has been 
packed with the following items:...

Installing the Toner Cartridges
1Open the front cover.
2Pull and remove the paper protecting the imaging unit.
3Remove four dummy caps which are on the toner cartridge 
entrances of the imaging unit. When you remove the dummy 
cap from the cartridge, lift the handle up and pull it out.
CAUTION: If you force too much to the dummy caps, it may 
cause problem.
4Holding the toner cartridges, shake thoroughly them from 
side to side to distribute the toner.
5Remove the cartridges...

7Grasp the toner cartridges and align them with the slots 
inside the printer. Insert them into their corresponding 
slots until they click into place. 
8Close the front cover. Make sure that the cover is securely 
closed. 
CAUTION: If the front cover is not completely closed, the 
printer will not operate.
NOTE: When printing text at  5% coverage, you can expect a 
toner cartridge life of about 2,000 pages for black and white 
printing and 1,000 pages for color printing....

5Flex the paper sheets back and forth to separate the pages 
and then fan them while holding one edge. Tap the edges 
of the stack on a flat surface to even it up.
6Load paper with the print side up.
Make sure not to overfill the tray and that all four corners 
are flat in the tray and under the brackets, as shown 
below. Overfilling the tray may cause a paper jam.

Changing the Size of the Paper in the Tray
To change the tray size to other size, you must adjust the paper 
length guide properly.
1Pull the tray out of the printer. Open the paper cover and 
remove paper from the tray if necessary.
2Pressing and unlatching the guide lock in the top of the 
tray, pull the tray out manually.
3Load paper into the tray.
4Slide the paper length guide until it lightly touches the end of 
the paper stack. Squeeze the paper width guide and slide it...

Connecting a Printer Cable
For Local Printing
To print from your computer in a local environment, you need 
to connect your printer to the co mputer with a Universal Serial 
Bus (USB) cable.
NOTE: Connecting the printer to th e USB port of the computer 
requires a certified USB cable. You will need to buy a USB 2.0 
compliant cable that is  not longer than 3 m.

Turning the Printer On
1Plug the power cord into the power receptacle on the rear 
of the printer. 
2Plug the other end into a properly grounded AC outlet and 
turn on the power. 
CAUTION: If there is a 
cracking sound, re-install 
the imaging unit. The

properly installed.
