Printing on Labels
• Only use labels recommended for laser printers.
• Verify that the labels’ adhesive material can tolerate a fusing 
temperature of 180°C (356°F) for 0.1 seconds.
• Make sure that there is no exposed adhesive material 
between the labels. Exposed areas can cause labels to peel 
off during printing, which can cause paper jams. Exposed 
adhesives can also cause damage to the printer components.
• Never print on the same sheet of labels more than once or on...

Printing on Transparencies
• When you print a color document do not use transparencies 
with an attached backing sheet. This may cause print quality 
problems.
• Only use transparencies recommended for use in laser 
printers.
• Ensure that transparencies do not have torn edges and are 
not wrinkled or curled.

To print on transparencies:
1Open the Multi-purpose Tray and unfold the paper support.
2Load transparencies into the Multi-purpose Tray. They must 
be loaded with the print side downwards and the top 
with the white leading edge entering the printer first. 
Adjust the guide to fit the width of the transparencies.

Printing on Preprinted Paper
• Preprinted paper is paper that has some type of printing 
placed on it before it is sent through the printer (paper that 
has a preprinted logo at the top of the page, for example).
• Letterhead must be printed with heat-resistant ink that will 
not melt, vaporize, or release hazardous emissions when 
subjected to the printer’s fusing temperature of 180°C 
(356°F) for 0.1 seconds.
• Ink on letterhead must be non-flammable and should not

Printing on Card Stock or Custom-sized 
Materials
• Postcards, 3.5 in. by 5.5 in. (index) cards and other custom-

minimum size is 90 mm by 140 mm (3.5 in. by 5.5 in.) and 
the maximum size is 216 mm by 356 mm (8.5 in. by 14 in.).
