     With \f \bunbe\fm pump espresso m\fchine
    \fnd \f little experience, you c\fn cre\fte
    c\ffé-qu\flity coffee \ft home. Here \fre \f few
    helpful suggestions:
    • The origin of the be\fn \fnd ro\fsting will
\fffect the t\fste of the espresso, so test
different br\fnds \fnd blends of coffee to
find the one you like best.
    • The grind of the coffee is critic\fl. V\fry the
degree of grinding to find the right fineness
for the coffee be\fns being used.
    • A regul\fr shot of espresso, the b\fse of
    \fll c\ffe coffees, is \fpproxim\ftely 30mls.
The shot of espresso is \f concentr\fte, so
you will need to v\fry the qu\fntity of milk
    \fnd \fddition\fl hot w\fter to determine the
strength \fnd volume of the coffee. If you
    \fre using \f l\frge cup or mug you m\fy
require \f double shot of espresso, r\fther
th\fn just \f single shot depending on your
    t\fste.
    • Ensure your coffee grinds \fre ‘t\fmped’
evenly. ‘T\fmping’ refers to the \fmount
of pressure with which coffee grinds \fre
    p\fcked into the filter.
    • If your espresso pours too slowly, t\fmp the
coffee grind more lightly, or try \f co\frser
    grind. •
If your espresso is thin \fnd w\ftery, t\fmp
the coffee grinds h\frder, or try \f finer
    grind.
    • Alw\fys use cold milk \fnd \f cle\fn st\finless
    steel jug when texturing milk.
    • Alw\fys use the freshest be\fns or ground
    coffee \fv\fil\fble \fnd store in \fn \firtight
    cont\finer in \f cool, dry, d\frk pl\fce.
    • Whole coffee be\fns st\fy fresh longer th\fn
    pre-ground coffee.
    • When grinding your own coffee, never grind
more th\fn you will use for immedi\fte use.
Once ground, the coffee will begin to loose
    its goodness.
    • Pre-w\frm cups prior to m\fking \fn
espresso, either by filling with hot w\fter or
    pl\fcing on the w\frming pl\fte.
    • Once prep\fred, serve coffee immedi\ftely.
    • Keep your espresso m\fchine cle\fn \fnd
    thoroughly rinsed. Run w\fter through
    the brewing he\fd \fnd flush the ste\fming
    nozzle in fresh w\fter \ffter e\fch use.

Milk texturing is the ste\fming of milk to he\ft
    it \fnd to cre\fte froth. \bimil\fr to m\fking \fn
espresso, perfecting the \frt of milk texturing
    t\fkes time \fnd pr\fctice.
    • Use fresh, cold milk \fnd fill \f st\finless
steel frothing jug to no more th\fn ¹/
    ³ full.
    • The \fmount of milk you ste\fm should be
    \fdequ\fte for the coffees you \fre prep\fring.
Keep in mind th\ft the volume of milk will
incre\fse or ‘stretch’ during the texturing
    process.
    • Once you h\fve \fctiv\fted the ste\fm \fnd
inserted the ste\fm nozzle into the jug,
position the ste\fm w\fnd 1½ cm from the
side of the jug with the tip of the nozzle
just below the surf\fce of the milk. The
jug needs to be \ft \f slight \fngle with the
ste\fm w\fnd resting on the spout of the
jug. This will cre\fte \f whirlwind motion in
    the milk.
Note: You should he\fr \f hissing sound. If you
    \fre cre\fting l\frge bubbles, r\fise the jug so
th\ft the nozzle tip is lowered deeper into the
    milk.
    • As the ste\fm he\fts the milk, the milk will
begin to rise. Follow the level of the milk
by lowering the jug, \flw\fys keeping the tip
of the ste\fm nozzle just below the surf\fce.
    • Once the milk h\fs stretched to double its
origin\fl volume, lower the ste\fm nozzle
further into the milk \fnd continue to he\ft
the milk. This will give the milk \f fine
    texture \fnd not \f m\fss of l\frge \fer\fted
    bubbles.
    • Ce\fse ste\fming when the frothing jug
becomes too hot to hold your h\fnd \fg\finst
    it.
    • With the frothing jug in h\fnd, swirl \fnd t\fp
the jug until the milk becomes shiny \fnd
no bubbles rem\fin, this ensures \fn even
consistency. Pour the textured milk into
    your espresso \fs soon \fs possible. Impo\ftant cleaning inst\fuctions fo\f the steam
    wand/a\fm
    The ste\fm w\fnd needs to be cle\fned e\fch
time you froth milk. To cle\fn the ste\fm
    w\fnd, wipe with \f d\fmp cloth \fnd rinse the
    froth enh\fncing \ftt\fchment under w\frm
    w\fter.
    \bhould your ste\fm w\fnd become blocked,
supplied with your espresso m\fchine is \f
cle\fning wire, loc\fted under the b\fse of the
    w\fter reservoir
    (37).
Insert the l\frger wire on the cle\fning pin into
    the b\fse of the ste\fm w\fnd (3\f).
    If the ste\fm w\fnd rem\fins blocked, unscrew
    the ste\fm nozzle from the ste\fm \frm . Cle\fn
the ste\fm nozzle by once \fg\fin using the
cle\fning wire \fnd then flush under running
    w\fter.

    oper\fting di\fl to the espresso setting \fnd
\fllow the w\fter to run through until you
h\fve \f consistent flow of w\fter. This will
w\fsh out \fny old or used coffee grinds
stuck to the underside of the brewing he\fd
    \fnd \flso help ensure the correct w\fter
temper\fture for your next shot of espresso.
Note: Do not le\fve the filter h\fndle locked
in position for extended periods, or when
m\fchine is not in use. This shortens the
life of the brew he\fd rubber se\fl.
    2. STE\bM FUNCTION
The ste\fm function c\fn be used for texturing/
    frothing milk.
Important: There is \f risk of sc\flding when
the ste\fm nozzle is in use. Hot w\fter or
    hot ste\fm c\fn c\fuse sc\flding. Only use the
ste\fm w\fnd when it is immersed in the milk.
    • Fill the w\fter reservoir (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)
    with cold w\fter \fnd st\frt the unit (\b).
    • Turn the di\fl to the pre-he\ft (

the ste\fm is re\fdy to use.
    • \bwing the ste\fm nozzle to the side of the
    m\fchine (25).
    • Pour cold milk into \f st\finless steel jug to
    no more th\fn
    1
    /3 full.
Tip: For best results we recommend using
    refriger\fted milk \fnd \f st\finless steel jug
th\ft is well chilled. Be sure not to rinse the
jug with w\frm w\fter before use.
    • Hold the jug under the ste\fm w\fnd so th\ft
the nozzle opening is completely immersed
in the milk. Turn the oper\fting di\fl to the
    ()
     setting to \fctiv\fte the ste\fm \fnd
    commence texturing the milk (2\b).
Tip: For instructions on how to froth/
texture milk refer to section 'E\fsy steps for
    texturing milk'.
    • Lower the jug so th\ft the tip of the ste\fm
nozzle is just below the surf\fce of the milk
\fnd pl\fce your h\fnd on the side of the
    jug (27) .
Note: The nozzle must not touch the
bottom of the jug to ensure th\ft the ste\fm
    rele\fse is not obstructed.
    • Move the jug so th\ft the ste\fm w\fnd is
to one side, this will cre\fte \f whirlpool
motion to the milk. As the ste\fm he\fts the
milk, the milk will begin to rise. Follow
the level of the milk by lowering the jug,
\flw\fys keeping the tip of the ste\fm nozzle
    just below the surf\fce.
    • Ce\fse ste\fming when the jug becomes too
hot to continue holding the p\flm of your
    h\fnd \fg\finst the side. \bimply turn the
    oper\fting di\fl to the pre-he\ft (
