To virtually eliminate wow and flutter, the 112R MKII is
equipped with the Hysteresis Tension Servo Control
(HTSC) system. This advanced servo control system
maintains consistent back tension on the tape all through
the reel, combatting inconsistencies brought on by
    extreme temperatures and humidity.
In addition, the tape direction can be changed, for play-
back or recording, with one button, thanks to the Super
Acculign Rotating Head System. Superior engineering
keeps the heads in proper alignment, and single-screw
azimuth adjustment makes it easy for the user to maintain
the head alignment after many hours of continuous use.
    Auto Reverse And Continuous Play
    Features For Extended Operation
For unattended recording or playback of material that is
longer than one side of a tape, the 112R
    MKII offers two
outstanding features that spare users from constantly
    attending to the deck.
Auto Reverse mode PLAYs or RECORDs in both direc-
tions before stopping, switching sides on the fly. The
Continuous Reverse mode allows you to loop the tape
during playback up to 5 times, or record in both directions,

    Sound Price/Performance
    For Multiple Applications
TASCAM designed the 112R MKII stereo cas-
sette deck to offer playback for engineers and
    sound contractors, a sonically uncompromising
    cassette auto reversing-continous play deck.
    The 112R
    MKII offers the finest independent
head auto-reverse design offered at this price
point, plus extra dubbing and editing features
that make it ideal for long program recording.
    Bi-Directional, 3-Head Transport
The 112R MKII features a three-head transport with sepa-
rate high-performance record and playback heads, manu-
factured from resilient Cobalt Amorphous materials. The
three independently-operating heads, combined with preci-
sion FG servo direct-drive capstan motors, combine to
provide the highest standards of reproduction quality and
performance — frequency response as great as 25 Hz to
20 kHz, and less than 1% total harmonic distortion.

The 112R MKII also utilizes your choice of popular Dolby B
or C noise reduction when recording, to further position
your tape for best results from other playback decks.
    3-Point Memory Features Speed
    Editing/Review
When editing program material or engaging in critical listen-
    ing, the 112R
MKII offers two Autolocator buttons (LOC 1
and LOC 2) and a MEMO IN control. These intuitive con-
trols allow editors to select two points on the tape for one
button forward/reverse to wherever the action is. Once the
two points are set, the REPEAT button allows you to loop
between the points with one-touch convenience.
Additionally, Return-to-Zero (RTZ) quickly spools the
tape back to 00 minutes, 00 seconds on the Real-Time
    Tape Counter.
    Easy Integration Into Production
    Studios and Playback Environments
The 112R MKII features rear-mounted RCA input and
output jacks for easy connection to audiophile-quality
    sources.
    Optional Balanced Connector Kit
If your input requirements include balanced or XLR con-
nectors, the optional LA-112 connector kit will provide the
additional inputs. After a simple installation procedure that
requires no special tools, both balanced and unbalanced
line inputs and outputs will be available, selectable with the
    flip of a back-panel switch.
without pausing to flip the tape and re-engage the record
mechanism. Both features are accessible from the front
    panel, with one-button selection.
    Automatic Tape Bias Selection
    For Error-Free Optimal High
    Frequency Response
Proper bias type is automatically selected when a tape is
placed in the deck; you get optimal recording and playback
response with Normal, Metal or Cr0
    2 tapes.
    Stereo VU Meters & Input/Output
    Dials Ensure Optimal Sound Levels
The input dials on the 112R MKII are gear-interdependent,
allowing you to dial in stereo VU calibration with one dial.
Or, for channel-specific calibration, hold one dial still while
adjusting the other. Either way, you get consistent, optimal
    recording levels without distortion.
Dolby HX Pro For Clear and
    More Dynamic Recordings
For maximum high-range clarity and reproduction precision,
    the 112R
MKII is equipped with the Dolby HX Pro headroom
extension system. HX pro is an active biasing system that
minimizes the effect of high frequency music signals on the
deck’s bias signal, achieving up to 6 dB greater headroom
at the higher music frequencies. What’s more, HX Pro is a
record-only process, so tapes recorded with HX Pro can be
played back on any other cassette deck.

    Parallel Port For External Control
A 25-pin parallel port provides a range of external control
capabilities, including event stop-start and fader-start
    operation. Additionally, the 112R
    MKII provides a tape-end
tally signal which allows coordinated multi-deck operation
for continuous recording or playback with two or more
    decks connected in a chain.
