This covers installation, switching on, setting up and planning your first route. After that, you will probably want to connect to TomTom services and you can read all about that in the Connecting to TomTom services chapter. To help you avoid traffic delays and get to your destination quicker, you can use TomTom services even on the routes you drive every day. To learn more, go to Working with search results in this guide. TomTom Traffic Geo Expansion You can now receive real-time traffic updates in Greece and Hungary. Your device must be connected to TomTom Services. Map correction reports can be submitted in real time You no longer need to connect your device to a computer to submit map corrections. Reports will be submitted in real time while your device is connected to TomTom. This ensures that TomTom can use the corrections as soon as possible to improve maps and services for all users. To learn more, go to About Map Share in this guide. Other bug fixes and improvements Various performance improvements and bug fixes have been implemented. Version 15.400 GO 40, GO 50, GO 60, GO 400, GO 500, GO 510, GO 600, GO 610, GO 5000, GO 5100, GO 6000, GO 6100 Introducing Destination Prediction Save time in the car and start navigating to favourite Places without ever touching your navigation device. Your TomTom GO can now learn your daily driving habits to saved favourite Places and also predict destinations when you start the device from sleep mode, for example driving to Work in the morning. Before you get your first prediction, your device needs some time to learn about your habits. The more regularly you drive with your TomTom GO, the faster you will get predictions and the more accurate the predictions will be. If you prefer not to use this new feature, you can turn it off at any time in Settings -> Route Planning. To learn more, go to Using Destination Prediction in this guide. Extra 3 months of Speed Camera Updates for free! Speed camera locations change all the time. Because we want our community to have the best driving experience, we want you to always know the most up-to-date speed camera locations. If you already have Lifetime Speed Cameras, you will continue to benefit from the updates. If you have a Speed Camera trial or a paid subscription, we will extend your Speed Camera Updates for an extra 3 months, free of charge. All you need to do is install the latest software. Whats new
8 Avoid part of route You can now select specific sections of your route to avoid. Access this option by going to Current Route -> Avoid Part of Route and selecting one of the route sections. The route is then recalculated avoiding this specific section. If you want to avoid multiple sections of your route, you can just repeat the steps above. To learn more, go to The Current Route Menu in this guide. See previews of specific sections of your route Know where your device is taking you in detail. When you go to Current Route -> Show instructions you can now select each instruction and see a preview of that specific section of the route on the map. To learn more, go to The Current Route Menu in this guide. Select a faster alternative route simply by steering When you approach a faster alternative route you now get an additional warning in the route bar and you can see the alternative route clearly in the guidance or map views. You no longer need to tap Yes in the route bar to accept the faster route. Simply steer towards the suggested alternative when you approach it and your device selects it. New voice command: “Find alternative” Say “Find alternative” and your TomTom GO will immediately plan and present two alternative routes to your current destination. Voice control needs to be activated in Settings. To learn more, go to Voice control in this guide. New interface language: Russian Your TomTom device now supports the Russian language. 10 Installing in your car Use the supplied mount to install your TomTom GO in your vehicle. Read the instructions about positioning your device before you install your GO. To install your GO, do the following: 1. Connect the supplied USB cable to the mount. If the mount is integrated into your GO, connect the USB cable to the device. Note: Use ONLY the USB cable supplied with your GO. Other USB cables may not work. 2. Connect the USB cable to the USB car charger and plug this into the power supply on your dashboard. 3. Choose the best smooth location, on your windscreen or side window, to mount your TomTom GO. Tip: If the mount is integrated into your GO, you can easily change the rotation of your device. Push the button on the back of the device to release the mount, then slide the mount out. Insert it back into the other side of the device. 4. Make sure that both the suction cup on the mount and your windscreen are clean and dry. 5. Press the suction cup of the mount firmly against your windscreen. 6. Turn the rubber grip near the base of the mount in a clockwise direction until you feel it lock. 7. If your mount is not integrated into your GO, place your GO in the mount, making sure that it clicks into place. Dashboard mount disks are available as part of a range of accessories for your GO. For more information, go to tomtom.com/accessories. Positioning the device Be careful where you install your GO. The GO shouldnt block or interfere with any of the following: Your view of the road. The controls in your vehicle. Your rear-view mirrors. The airbags. You should be able to reach your GO easily without leaning or stretching. In a car, you can attach your GO to the windscreen or side window or you can use a Dashboard Mount Disk to attach the mount to your dashboard. Switching on and off Switching your device on Press the On/Off button until your device starts. If the device was off you see the map view. If your device was sleeping you see the last screen you were looking at. Sending your device to sleep To send your navigation device to sleep, press the On/Off button and then release it. Get going
