    In sta lling  drives  in to  t h e 
    R AID  T o w er IX
    1.  Be sure the lock on each drive door is in an unlock position. If not, use the key that comes 
    with the Disk  Array to unlock the drive doo r. Pull 
    on the door lever to swing open the drive door all 
    the way .
    2.  Slide a 3.5” SA TA  hard drive into the drive slot 
    with the drive connector side facing in.  Be sure to 
    orient the hard drive correctly as shown in the 
    yellow label on the inside of the drive door – with 
    drive door swing open at the bottom, the top of 
    the hard drive should face to the right.  The drive 
    should slide all the way into the slot with very  
    little resistance. Forcing the drive into the slot 
    will cause drive damage or permanent 
    damage to the Disk  Array.
    3.  Once the drive is all the way into the drive slot, 
    close the door all the way till the drive door latch 
    securel y.  This will engage power and data 
    connection with the hard drive.   The LED lit for 
    the drive slot should lit if the Dis k Array already 
    powered on . Y ou may lock the drive door with the 
    key
    4.   To remove the hard drive from the Disk  Array , 
    simply follow the step 2 – 3 in reverse.

       where th e H PM  is  c onne cte d. T he b uzze r will  s ound  while  holding  th e  
       RAID  s e tting  b utto n. Release  it  a fte r a t leas t 5  seconds  fo r hardware   
       initiali za tion . A  single  beep  will  b e heard  to  indi ca te  ini tiali za tion  is   
       complete d. 
     h .  Veri fy  if  th e R AID  array  is  d ete cte d b y th e sys te m .
     i.   If th e 5-por t H PM -X U  is  conne cte d to  th e m otherboard  onboard   
       SATA,  on th e C M OS  se tu p u tili ty ,  th e raid  array  will  d is play  a s  
       “A ddoni cs H /W  RAID5”  if  se tu p a s a  R AID 5 arra y.
     j.   If th e 5-por t H PM -X U  is  conne cte d to  a n e S ATA  h ost  co ntroller  c ard ,  
       on th e R AID  BIOS, t he raid  array  will  d is play  a s “ A ddoni cs H/W   
       RAID0”  if  s e tu p a s a  R AID 0 arra y.
    k .  If boo te d in to  W indow s, in  D isk  Drive s under  D evice  Manage r,  th e  
       raid arra y will  d is pla y a s “ A ddoni cs H/W  LA R G E” if  se tu p a s a   
       LA R GE  arra y.
     l.   Once  raid  arra y is  v eri fied , yo u c a n s e t th e b uzze r e it her  O N o r O FF.

    s e tting , th e 2  drives  will  b e 
    con figured  a s a  2-dri ve  
    R AID 1 arra y.
    Clone ’s  a ction  is  similar  to  
    R AID 1. Howe ve r,  all  o f th e 
    hard  drives  will  b e mirrored . 
    Clone  mode  is  use fu l 
    especially  when  users  like  
    t o  copy  d ata  from  a  source  
    hard  drive  to  th e drive s 
    c onne cte d to  th e H PM -X U .
    RAID  S ett ing  Notes :
    When  4  dri ve s are  c onnec te d to  th e H PM -X U , th e 4  dri ve s will  b e 
    con figured  a s a  4-drive  R AID10  arra y.
