    Removing the Hard Drive Sensor Cable 
    Disconnect the temperature sensor cable from its connector on the top of the logic board.1. 
    Remove the sensor-end of the cable from the sensor clip located under the foam gasket on 2.

    Replacing the Hard Drive Sensor Cable
    Connect the sensor cable to the clip on the hard drive and to the connector on the logic 1. 
    board.  Place the foam gasket over the sensor clip.
    Replace the display panel2.  .
    Replace the front bezel.

    Clean and replace the glass panel4.  . Note: This step is very important. Follow the procedures 
    to ensure the glass is clean and free of particles.

    Preliminary Steps
    Before you begin, remove the following:

    Removing the Optical Drive
    Warning: When servicing the optical drive, handle it by the edges only. Pressing elsewhere on the 
    drive could damage its internal mechanism.
    Remove the two T10 screws.

    2.  Carefully peel back the strip of EMI mesh tape that anchors the bezel end of the drive to the 
    rear cover.  
     
    3. Tilt up the optical drive, remove the two T6 screws on the flex cable board. Remove the flex 
    cable board from the end of the optical drive.

    Disconnect the temperature sensor cable from its connector on the top edge of the logic

    board. On the bottom of the optical drive, peel back the foam gasket (not shown) and 
    disconnect the sensor from the sensor clip. 
    If you are replacing the optical drive, transfer the EMI mesh tape, the foam gasket, and the 5. 
    temp sensor cable to the replacement drive. The replacement drive includes the plastic 
    mounting brackets, sensor cable clip, slot-load bezel, and the EMI gasket.

    Replacing the Optical Drive
    Caution: Never press down on or grasp the body of the optical drive when installing it. Pressing 
    or squeezing the body of the optical drive could damage the drive mechanism. 
    1. Connect the optical sensor cable to the underside of the drive. Place a new foam gasket on 
    top of the sensor clip.  Note: Replace the foam gasket when installing a replacement optical 
    drive. A new foam gasket is included with replacement optical and hard drives.
    2.  Install the flex cable onto the optical drive with two T6 screws.

    Insert the optical drive bezel into the rear housing, lining up the bezel with the slot opening.3. 
    4. Replace the two T10 optical drive screws.
    Replace the EMI mesh tape on top of the optical drive. 5. Important: Make sure the EMI mesh 
    tape does not cover any of the slot-load opening on the rear cover as you replace the optical 
    drive into the computer assembly.
    6.  Replace the display panel.  Important: Tuck the four inverter cables into the open cavities 
    in the rear housing. If the cables are not tucked into the open areas next to the optical drive, 
    the LCD panel will not lower into place correctly making proper installation of the front bezel 
    difficult.  
    After replacing the optical drive, plug in the computer and test the optical drive by inserting

    and ejecting DVD-R media. Repeat the insert/eject test three times. 
    Replace the front bezel.

    Clean and replace the glass panel9. . Note: This step is very important. Follow the procedures 
    to ensure the glass is clean and free of particles.

    Removing the Optical Flex Cable
    Release the black tape holding the cable to the chassis. Lift the cable out of the chassis.1.

    Replacing the Optical Flex Cable
    Position the cable into the rear housing as shown above.1. 
    Fasten the flexible cable to the chassis with a piece of kapton tape if the black tape doesn’t 2.  
    stick.
    3. Replace the optical fan.
    4. Replace the logic board .
    5. Replace the optical drive. 
    Replace the display panel

    Replace the front bezel.
