    Trytouselessdetergent,andincreaseonly

    Dyeingfabrics
    Ifyouwanttodyefabricsinthemachine,se-
    lecttheNormalprogramwiththeSuperRinse
    optionOn.Selecttemperatureaccordingto
    thedyemanufacturer’srecommendations.
    Choosealowspinspeedifthefabrictobe
    dyedisablendedmaterialsuchas
    polyester/cotton.

    Addthedyedirectlytothewashingdrum–
    nottothedetergentcompartment.Afterdye-

    Liquiddetergents
    Wedon’trecommendliquiddetergentsbe-
    causetheytendtoproducemoresudsthan
    powderdetergentswhenusedinwatertem-
    peraturesof150°Forhigher.Ifyoushould
    tryaliquiddetergent,startwithaverysmall
    amount,suchas1to2tablespoons.Also,
    liquiddetergentcanbeusedforallprograms
    withoutprewash,soadditintothemainwash
    compartment.
    Detergents
    Laundrydetergentsareavailableinlow-,
    normal-andhigh-sudsingformulas.Adeter-
    gent´sabilitytocleanisnotrelativetothe
    amountofsudsitproduces.Excesssudsin
    afront-loadingwasheractuallyinterferewith
    thecleaningbecausetheycushionthetum-
    blingaction.Also,high-sudsingdetergents
    aremoredifficulttocompletelyrinseout.The
    useofanythingotherthanalow-sudsingde-
    tergentcancausesevereoversudsing,which
    couldcausesudstobackupthroughthede-
    tergentcompartmentandrundownthefront
    ofthewasherontothefloor.Ifoversudsing
    occurs,runthewashthroughoneormore
    rinseprogramsuntilallitemsarethoroughly
    rinsed.Removethelaundrythenrunthe
    washerthroughaNormalwashprogramto
    getridofanyremainingdetergent.Werecom-
    mendthatyoudon’tusebleachinyourASKO
    washer.Thetumblingwashaction,tempera-
    turecontroloptions,extendedwashtimes
    andproperamountofdetergentaresufficient
    toremovemoststains.

    							Recommendedpowderdetergents
    ASKOwashersuse50%to75%lessdeter-
    gentthanmostotherwashers.Thisisbe-
    causeoftheirlowwaterconsumptionandthe
    factthatallthewashwaterisrepeatedlycir-
    culatedthroughthelaundry,ensuringthatall
    thedetergentisfullyutilized.Werecommend
    thatyouusepowderdetergentsmade
    specificallyforfront-loadingwashers.These
    aresometimescalledHE(High-Efficiency)
    detergents.Listedbelowaresomelow-
    sudsingpowderdetergentsthathavebeen
    successfullytestedinASKOwashers:

    Werecommendthatyoudonotuseany
    powderdetergentthatdoesn’twashcomplete-
    lyoutofthedetergentdrawer.
    DetergentAmountsBasedonWater
    Hardness
    Theamountofdetergentneededcanvary
    duetodifferencesinwaterhardness.Tode-
    terminethewaterhardnessinyourarea,
    contactyourlocalwaterutilityorareawater
    softeningcompany.Theharderthewater,the
    moredetergentyoumayneed.Refertothe
    chartbelowfortherecommendeddetergent
    amountsbasedonwaterhardness.Remem-
    ber,youshouldadjusttheamountofdeter-
    gentyouusebysmallamountsuntilyoufind
    thecorrectamount.Notethat12grainsand
    higherisextremelyhardwateranddetergent
    alonemaynotbeenough.Youmayneedto
    useawatersoftenertomaximizetheperfor-
    manceofyourwasher.Also,inareaswith
    extremelyhardwater(9+)youmayneedto
    washatlowertemperaturestopreventhard
    waterdepositsfromforminginthetankand
    washsystem.Differentbrandsofdetergent
    havedifferentamountsofphosphorousfor
    softeningwater.Ifyouhavehardwaterand
    useadetergentwithlessthan8.7%phospho-
    rouscontent,youmayneedtousemorede-
    tergentoruseadetergentwithahigher
    phosphorouscontent.

    Theamountofdetergentneededvaries
    amongthedifferentbrands,butformostde-
    tergents,youneedonlyoneortwotable-
    spoons.Usingtoomuchdetergentcanresult
    indetergentresiduebeingleftinyourclothes,
    whichcancausethemtoappeargrayor
    dingy.Youshouldstartwithasmallamount
    ofdetergentandincreaseitonlyiftheclean-
    ingresultsareunsatisfactory.Additionally,you
    shouldneverputdetergentintheprewash
    compartmentunlessyouareusingawash
    programthathasaprewashcycle.Thiscould
    causeexcessfoaming,whichcoulddamage
    themachine.Theamountofdetergentneeded
    canalsodependonthehardnessofthewater
