Playing Back the Disc on an External Device
To play the disc you recorded on a DVD 
player, a computer’s DVD drive or other 
digital device, you need to finalize it first. 
You do not need to finalize the disc to 
play back your recordings with the 
camcorder connected to the TV.
To view your still images on a DVD player 
you will need to convert them to 
Photomovie scenes beforehand ( 68).
IMPORTANT
   Be sure to finalize the disc in normal room...

or a Computer’s DVD Drive
After finalizing the disc you can play it on 
DVD players compatible with the type of 
disc you used (DVD-R, DVD-R DL or 
DVD-RW). For details about disc 
compatibility refer to the instruction 
manual of the DVD player or DVD drive.
On a DVD Player
1Turn on the TV and DVD player.
2Insert a finalized disc in the DVD 
player.
3Select the scene you want to play 
from the index screen.

If your TV or VCR is equipped with an S-Video terminal use connection type  , 
otherwise connect using the AV terminals (connection type  ).

Selecting the Type of TV 
Before connecting the camcorder, select 
the [TV TYPE] setting according to the TV 
set to which you will connect the 
camcorder - [WIDE TV]: TV sets with 16:9 
aspect ratio or [NORMAL TV]: TV sets 
with 4:3 aspect ratio ( 43).

Transferring Recordings – MyDVD for 
Canon 
Windows users only: 
With the supplied USB cable and the 
MyDVD for Canon software you can 
transfer the movies and still images you 
recorded, from the disc to a computer and 
easily edit them. Please note that with 
MyDVD for Canon you can read 8 cm 
DVD-R DL discs, but the software does 
not support writing on dual-layered discs

   Check the orientation of the USB cable and 
make sure you connect it properly.
   If you use discs other than the recommended 
DVD discs you may get an error message on 
the computer indicating that the disc cannot be 
read or that the camcorder is not ready.
NOTES
DVD copies and DVD backup discs created 
with MyDVD for Canon cannot be unfinalized 
using the camcorder.
