    Viewing Images on a High-Definition TV
    Using the separately sold HDMI Cable HTC-100, you can connect the camera 
    to an HD TV to view images you have shot.
    Turn off the camera and TV.
    Connect the camera to the TV.
    zOpen the camera’s terminal cover and fully 
    insert the cable plug into the camera’s 
    terminal.
    zFully insert the cable plug into the TV’s 
    HDMI input.
    Display images.
    zFollow Steps 3 and 4 on p. 130 to display 
    the images.
    The supplied stereo AV and interface cables and the separately sold HDMI 
    Cable HTC-100 cannot be plugged into the camera at the same time. Doing 
    so could cause the camera to malfunction.
    Operation sounds will not play when connected to an HD TV.

    Using a TV Remote to Control the Camera
    When you connect the camera to an HDMI CEC compatible TV, you can use 
    the TV’s remote control to operate the camera and play back images or view 
    slideshows.
    You may need to make settings on some TVs. For details, refer to the user 
    guide supplied with the TV.
    Choose [Ctrl via HDMI].
    zPress the n button to choose [Ctrl via 
    HDMI] from the 3 tab, then press the qr 
    buttons to choose [Enable].
    Connect the camera to the TV.
    zFollow Steps 1 – 2 on p. 131 to connect the 
    camera to the TV.
    Display images.
    zTurn on the TV and press the camera’s 1 
    button.
    XThe image will appear on the TV (nothing 
    will appear on the screen of the camera).
    Use the TV’s remote control.
    zPress the remote control’s qr buttons to 
    choose an image.
    zPress the OK/Select button to display the 
    camera control panel. Press the qr 
    buttons to choose an item, then press the 
    OK/Select button again.

    Return Closes the menu.
    Group playbackDisplays groups of High-speed Burst images (only appears 
    when grouped images are chosen).
    Play movie Plays a movie (only appears when a movie is chosen).
    .SlideshowPlays back images automatically. During playback, you can 
    press the remote control’s qr buttons to switch images.
    Index playback Displays images in an index.
    lChange display Changes the screen display (p. 44).
    •If you operate the controls on the camera, you will not be able to control 
    the camera with the TV’s remote control until you return to single image 
    playback.
    •Some TVs may not be able to control the camera properly even though 
    they are HDMI CEC compatible.

    You can protect important images so that they cannot be accidentally erased 
    with the camera (pp. 28, 138).
    Protect the image.
    zAfter pressing the m button, press the 
    op buttons to choose :, then press the 
    m button again.
    X[Protected] will appear on the screen.zTo unlock an image, follow the step above 
    to choose : again, then press the m 
    button.
    Using the Menu
    Choose [Protect].
    zPress the n button to choose 
    [Protect] from the 1 tab, then press the 
    m button.
    Choose a selection method.
    zPress the op buttons to choose a 
    selection method, then press the m 
    button.
    zPress the n button to complete the 
    setting and restore the menu screen.
    Protecting Images
    If you format the memory card (pp. 22, 167), protected images will also be 
    erased.
    Protected images cannot be erased with the camera’s erase function. To 
    erase an image, cancel protection settings first.

    Choose [Select].
    zFollow Step 2 on p. 134 to choose [Select], 
    then press the m button.
    Choose images.
    zPress the qr buttons to choose an image, 
    then press the m button.
    X will appear on the screen.zPress the m button again to deselect the 
    image.   will disappear.
    zTo choose additional images, repeat the 
    above procedure.
    Protect the image.
    zIf you press the n button, a 
    confirmation screen will appear.
    zPress the qr buttons to choose [OK], then 
    press the m button.
    If you switch to Shooting mode or turn off the power before performing the 
    operations in Step 3, images will not be protected.

    Select Range
    Choose [Select Range].
    zFollow Step 2 on p. 134 to choose [Select 
    Range], then press the m button.
    Choose a starting image.
    zPress the m button.
    zPress the qr buttons to choose an image, 
    then press the m button.
    Choose an ending image.
    zPress the r button to choose [Last image], 
    then press the m button.
    zPress the qr buttons to choose an image, 
    then press the m button.
    zYou cannot choose images before the first 
    image.

    Protect images.
    zPress the p button to choose [Protect], 
    then press the m button.
    Choose All Images
    Choose [All Images].
    zFollow Step 2 on p. 134 to choose [All 
    Images], then press the m button.
    Protect images.
    zPress the op buttons to choose [Protect], 
    then press the m button.
    You can unlock groups of protected images if you choose [Unlock] in Step 
    4, while in [Select Range] or Step 2 while in [All Images].

    You can choose images and then erase them in groups. Since erased images 
    cannot be recovered, exercise adequate caution before erasing. Protected 
    images (p. 134) cannot be erased.
    Choose a Selection Method
    Choose [Erase].
    zPress the n button to choose [Erase] 
    from the 1 tab, then press the m button.
    Choose a selection method.
    zPress the op buttons to choose a 
    selection method, then press the m 
    button.
    zPress the n button to restore the 
    menu screen.
    Choosing Images Individually
    Choose [Select].
    zFollow Step 2 above to choose [Select], 
    then press the m button.
    Choose an image.
    zIf you follow Step 2 on p. 135 to choose 
    images, a   will appear on the screen.
    zPress the m button again to deselect the 
    image.   will disappear.
    zTo choose additional images, repeat the 
    above procedure.

    Erase.
    zIf you press the n button, a 
    confirmation screen will appear.
    zPress the qr buttons to choose [OK], then 
    press the m button.
    Select Range
    Choose [Select Range].
    zFollow Step 2 on p. 138 to choose [Select 
    Range], then press the m button.
    Choose images.
    zFollow Steps 2 and 3 on p. 136 to choose 
    images.
    Erase.
    zPress the p button to choose [Erase], 
    then press the m button.
    Choose All Images
    Choose [All Images].
    zFollow Step 2 on p. 138 to choose [All 
    Images], then press the m button.
    Erase.
    zPress the qr buttons to choose [OK], then 
    press the m button.

    When you tag images as favorites, you can easily categorize just those 
    images. You can also filter out just those images for viewing, protecting or 
    erasing (p. 120).
    Make the setting.
    zAfter pressing the m button, press the 
    op buttons to choose  , then press the 
    m button again.
    \X[Tagged as Favorite] will appear on the 
    screen.
    zTo unlock an image, follow the step above 
    to choose   again, then press the m 
    button.
    Using the Menu
    Choose [Favorites].
    zPress the n button to choose 
    [Favorites] from the 1 tab, then press the 
    m button.
    Choose an image.
    zPress the qr buttons to choose an image, 
    then press the m button.
    X will appear on the screen.zPress the m button again to untag the 
    image.  disappears.
    zTo choose additional images, repeat the 
    above procedure.
