    IMPORTANT: 
    Compaq uses two vendors for CD drives and the CD drive cables 
    are unique for each. If the replacement CD drive is the same as 
    the original CD drive, it is not necessary to replace the CD drive 
    cable. 
    If the replacement CD drive is different from the original CD 
    drive, the CD drive cable must be replaced with the cable 
    supplied with the replacement CD drive.
     
    Disconnecting the CD Drive Cable from the CD Drive 11. Disconnect the CD 
    cable from the CD drive 
    and push forward from 
    the rear to remove the 
    CD drive from the 
    chassis as shown.
    To replace the CD drive, 
    reverse the previous 
    procedures.

    touch pad

    panel.
    6. 
    Remove 
    the interface 
    board. 
    7. 
    Disconnect 
    the ZIF 
    connector 
    and backlight 
    power cable 
    from the 
    interface 
    board. 
    8. Grasp the 
    hinge covers 
    and push out 
    to release the 
    covers from 
    the hinges of 
    the display 
    panel 
    assembly as 
    shown.

    flex cable attached

    the slot on the 
    plastic subpanel

    the snap

    the plastic 
    subpanel 
    assembly as 
    shown.

    NOTE:When replacing the CD Guide support bracket, ensure the PCMCIA

    Disconnecting the Speaker Cables and Removing the 
    Speaker Assembly9. Disconnect the 
    speaker cables from 
    the system board 
    and lift the speaker 
    assembly from the 
    chassis.
