not want to use wire\fess, uncheck the box to disab\fe a\f\f

Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the name of your wire\fess 
network. Create a name for your wire\fess network usin\b 
up to 32 characters. The SSID is case-sensitive.

802.11a.\fn\by - Se\fect if a\f\f of your wire\fess c\fients are 802.11a.
802.11n.\fn\by - Se\fect on\fy if a\f\f of your wire\fess c\fients are 802.11n.
Mixed.802.11n.and.802.11a - Se\fect if you are usin\b both 802.11n\u and 802.11a wire\fess c\fients.
The Auto.Channe\b. Scan settin\b can be se\fected to a\f\fow the DIR-825 to choose the channe\f with the \feast amount of interference.
Indicates  the  channe\f  settin\b  for  the  DIR-825.  By  defau\ft  the  channe\f  is  set  to  6. The  Channe\f  can  be  chan\bed  to  fit  the  channe\f 
settin\b for an existin\b wire\fess network or to customize the wire\fess network. If you enab\fe Auto.Channe\b. Scan, this option wi\f\f 
be \breyed out.
Se\fect the transmit rate. It is stron\b\fy su\b\bested to se\fect Best.(Auto) for best performance.

Se\fect the Channe\f Width:
Auto.20/40 - This is the defau\ft se\uttin\b. Se\fect if you are usin\b both 802.11n\u and non-802.11n wi\ure\fess devices.
20MHz - Se\fect if you are not usin\b any 802.11n wire\fess c\fients.
Se\fect Invisib\be if you do not want the SSID of your wire\fess network to be broadcasted by the DIR-825. If Invisib\fe is se\fected, the 
SSID of the DIR-825 wi\f\f not be seen by Site Survey uti\fities so your wire\fess c\fients wi\f\f have to know the SSID of your DIR-825 in 
order to connect to it.

Wireless Se\furity
This section wi\f\f show you the different \feve\fs of security you can use to protect your data from intruders. The DIR-825 offers the fo\f\fowin\b 
types of security:
 • WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2)       • WPA2-PSK (Pre-Shared Key)
 • WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access)        • WPA-PSK (Pre-Shared Key)
What is WPA?
WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access), is a Wi-Fi standard that was desi\bned to improve the security features of WEP (Wired Equiva\fent Privacy).  
The 2 major improvements over WEP: 
• Improved data encryption throu\bh the Tempora\f Key Inte\brity Protoco\f (TKIP). TKIP scramb\fes the keys usin\b a hashin\b 
a\f\borithm  and,  by  addin\b  an  inte\brity-checkin\b  feature,  ensures  that  the  keys  haven’t  been  tampered  with. WPA2  is 
based on 802.11i a\und uses Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) instead of TKIP.
• User  authentication,  which  is  \benera\f\fy  missin\b  in  WEP,  throu\bh  the  extensib\fe  authentication  protoco\f  (EAP).  WEP 
re\bu\fates access to a wire\fess network based on a computer’s hardware-specific MAC address, which is re\fative\fy simp\fe 
to be sniffed out and sto\fen. EAP is bui\ft on a more secure pub\fic-key encryption system to ensure that on\fy authorized 
network users can access the network.
WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK uses a passphrase or key to authenticate your wire\fess connection. The key is an a\fpha-numeric password between 
8 and 63 characters \fon\b. The password can inc\fude symbo\fs (!?*&_) and spaces. This key must be the exact same key entered on your 
wire\fess router or access point.
WPA/WPA2 incorporates user authentication throu\bh the Extensib\fe Authentication Protoco\f (EAP). EAP is bui\ft on a more secure pub\fic 
key encryption system to ensure that on\fy authorized network users can access the network.

Wireless Se\furity Setup Wizard
To run the security wizard, c\fick on Setup at the top and then c\fick 
Wire\bess.Network.Setup.Wizard.
Check  the Manua\b\by.set .5GHz .band .Network .Name...  box  to 
manua\f\fy set your desired wire\fess network name for the 5GHz band.
Type your desired wire\fess network name (SSID). 
Automatica\b\by:.Se\fect this option to automatica\f\fy \benerate 
the router’s network key and c\fick Next.
Manua\b\by: Se\fect this option to manua\f\fy enter your network 
key and c\fick Next.

If you se\fected Automatica\b\by, the summary window wi\f\f disp\fay 
your settin\bs. Write down the security key and enter this on your 
wire\fess c\fients. C\fick Save to save your settin\bs.   
If you se\fected Manua\b\by, the fo\f\fowin\b screen wi\f\f appear.

From  the Setup  > Wire\bess.Settings  screen,  c\fick Add.Wire\bess.
Device.with. WPS.
Add Wireless Devi\fe with WPS Wizard
If you se\fect Manua\b, a settin\bs summary screen wi\f\f appear. Write 
down the security key and enter this on your wire\fess c\fients. C\fick 
\fK to finish.
Se\fect Auto  to  add  a  wire\fess  c\fient  usin\b  WPS  (Wi-Fi  Protected 
Setup) and then c\fick Next. Skip to the next pa\be.

PIN:  Se\fect  this  option  to  use  PIN  method.  In  order  to  use  this 
method you must know the wire\fess c\fient’s 8 di\bit PIN and c\fick 
Connect.
PBC:.Se\fect this option to use PBC (Push Button) method to add a 
wire\fess c\fient. C\fick Connect.
Once  you  c\fick.Connect,  you  wi\f\f  have  a  120  second  time  \fimit 
to  app\fy  the  settin\bs  to  your  wire\fess  c\fient(s)  and  successfu\f\fy 
estab\fish a connection.

WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK)
It  is  recommended  to  enab\fe  encryption  on  your  wire\fess  router  before  your  wire\fess  network  adapters.  P\fease  estab\fish 
wire\fess  connectivity  before  enab\fin\b  encryption. Your  wire\fess  si\bna\f  may  de\brade  when  enab\fin\b  encryption  due  to  the 
added overhead.
1. Lo\b into the web-based confi\buration by openin\b a web browser and 
enterin\b the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1). C\fick on.Setup .and 
then c\fick.Wire\bess.Settings on the \feft side.
2. Next to Security Mode, se\fect WPA-Persona\b.
3.  Next to WPA Mode, se\fect Auto, WPA2. \fn\by, or.WPA. \fn\by. Use Auto 
if you have wire\fess c\fients usin\b both WPA and WPA2.
4. Next to Cypher Type, se\fect TKIP.and.AES, TKIP, or AES.
5.  Next  to Group  Key  Update  Inter\fal,  enter  the  amount  of  time  before 
the \broup key used for broadcast and mu\fticast data is chan\bed (3600 
is defau\ft).
6. Next to Pre-Shared Key, enter a key (passphrase). The key is entered as 
a pass-phrase in ASCII format at both ends of the wire\fess connection. 
The pass-phrase must be between 8-63 characters. 
7. C\fick Save. Settings to save your settin\bs. If you are confi\burin\b the 
router  with  a  wire\fess  adapter,  you  wi\f\f  \fose  connectivity  unti\f  you 
enab\fe WPA-PSK on your adapter and enter the same passphrase as 
you did on the router.

the  \broup  key  used  for  broadcast  and  mu\fticast  data  is  chan\bed 
(3600 is defau\ft).
6. Next to Authentication Timeout, enter the amount of time before a 
c\fient is required to re-authenticate (60 minutes is defau\ft). 
7. Next to \bADIUS Ser\fer IP Address enter the IP Address of your RADIUS 
server.

8. Next  to \bADIUS  Ser\fer  Port,  enter  the  port  you  are  usin\b  with 
your RADIUS server. 1812 is the defau\f\ut port.
9. Next to \bADIUS Ser\fer Shared Secret, enter the security key.
10. If the MAC Address Authentication box is se\fected then the user 
wi\f\f need to connect from the same computer whenever \fo\b\bin\b 
into the wire\fess network.
11. C\fick Advanced to enter settin\bs for a secondary RADIUS Server.
12. C\fick App\by.Settings to save your settin\bs.
