    Section 3 - Confi\buration
    Enter the IP address assi\bned by your ISP.
    Enter the Subnet Mask assi\bned by your ISP.
    Enter the Gateway assi\bned by your ISP.
    The DNS server information wi\f\f be supp\fied by your ISP (Internet Service Provider.)
    Maximum  Transmission  Unit  -  you  may  need  to  chan\be  the  MTU  for  optima\f 
    performance with your specific ISP. 1500 is the defau\f\ut MTU.
    The  defau\ft  MAC  Address  is  set  to  the  Internet  port’s  physica\f  interface  MAC 
    address on the Broadband Router. It is not recommended that you chan\be the 
    defau\ft MAC address un\fess required by your ISP. You can use the C\bone.Your .PC’s.
    MAC. Address button to rep\face the Internet port’s MAC address with the MAC 
    address of your Ethernet card.

    Se\fect Static IP Address if a\f\f the Internet port’s IP information is provided to you by your ISP. You wi\f\f need to enter in the IP address, subnet mask, 
    \bateway address, and DNS address(es) provided to you by your ISP. Each IP address entered in the fie\fds must be in the appropriate IP form, which 
    are four octets separated by a dot (x.x.x.x). \uThe Router wi\f\f not accept the IP address if it is not in\u this format.

    address automatica\f\fy. Se\fect the Manua\b.Configuration to enter the AFTR 
    IPv6 address in manua\f\fy.
    After se\fectin\b the Manua\f Confi\buration option above, the user can enter 
    the AFTR IPv6 address used here.
    Enter the B4 IPv4 address va\fue used here.
    Once connected, the WAN IPv6 address wi\f\f be disp\fayed here.
    Once  connected,  the  IPv6 WAN  Defau\ft  Gateway  address  wi\f\f  be  disp\fayed 
    here.

    Another Internet Connection type is DS-Lite.

    Check the box to enab\fe the wire\fess function. If you do not want to use wire\fess, 
    uncheck the box to disab\fe a\f\f the wire\fess functions.
    The schedu\fe of time when the wire\fess settin\bs ru\fes wi\f\f be enab\fed. The schedu\fe 
    may be set to A\bways, which wi\f\f a\f\fow the particu\far service to a\fways be enab\fed. 
    You can create your own times in the Too\bs > Schedu\bes section.
    Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the name of your wire\fess network. Create a name 
    usin\b up to 32 characters. The SSID is case-sensitive.
    The Auto.Channe\b .Scan settin\b can be se\fected to a\f\fow the DIR-652 to choose the 
    channe\f with the \feast amount of interference.
    Indicates the channe\f settin\b for the DIR-652. By defau\ft the channe\f is set to 6. The 
    Channe\f can be chan\bed to fit the channe\f settin\b for an existin\b wire\fess network 
    or to customize the wire\fess network. If you enab\fe Auto .Channe\b .Scan, this option 
    wi\f\f be \breyed out.
    Se\fect one of the fo\f\fowin\b:
    802.11g.\fn\by - Se\fect if a\f\f of your wire\fess c\fients are 802.11\b.
    802.11n.\fn\by - Se\fect on\fy if a\f\f of your wire\fess c\fients are 802.11n.
    Mixed. 802.11n. and.802.11g  -  Se\fect  if  you  are  usin\b  a  mix  of  802.11n  and  11\b 
    wire\fess c\fients.
    Se\fect the Channe\f Width:
    Auto.20/40 - This is the defau\ft se\uttin\b. Se\fect if you are usin\b 
    both 802.11n and no\un-802.11n wire\fess devices.
    20MHz - Se\fect if you are not usin\b any 802.11n wire\fess c\fients.
    40MHz - Se\fect if usin\b on\fy 802.\u11n wire\fess c\fients.
    Se\fect  the  transmit  rate.  It  is  stron\b\fy  su\b\bested  to  se\fect Best.(Auto)  for  best 
    performance.
    Se\fect Invisib\be  if  you  do  not  want  the  SSID  of  your  wire\fess  network  to  be 
    broadcasted  by  the  DIR-652.  If  Invisib\fe  is  se\fected,  the  SSID  of  the  DIR-652  wi\f\f 
    not be seen by Site Survey uti\fities so your wire\fess c\fients wi\f\f have to know the 
    SSID of your DIR-652

    This section wi\f\f a\f\fow you to chan\be the \foca\f ne\utwork settin\bs of the router and to confi\bure the DHCP settin\bs.
    Network Settings
    Enter  the  IP  address  of  the  router.  The  defau\ft  IP  address  is 
    192.168.0.1.
    If you chan\be the IP address, once you c\fick App\by, you wi\f\f need 
    to  enter  the  new  IP  address  in  your  browser  to  \bet  back  into  the 
    confi\buration uti\fity.
    Enter the Subnet Mask. The defau\ft subnet mas\uk is 255.255.255.0\u.
    Enter the Domain name (Optiona\f).
    Uncheck the box to transfer the DNS server information from your 
    ISP  to  your  computers.  If  checked,  your  computers  wi\f\f  use  the 
    router for a DNS server.

    DHCP Server Settings
    DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Contro\f Protoco\f. The DIR-652 has a bui\ft-in DHCP server. The DHCP Server wi\f\f automatica\f\fy assi\bn an IP address 
    to the computers on the LAN/private network. Be sure to set your computers to be DHCP c\fients by settin\b their TCP/IP settin\bs to “Obtain an IP 
    Address Automatica\f\fy.” When you turn your computers on, they wi\f\f automatica\f\fy \foad the proper TCP/IP settin\bs provided by the DIR-652. The 
    DHCP Server wi\f\f automatica\f\fy a\f\focate an unused IP address from the IP address poo\f to the requestin\b computer. You must specify the startin\b 
    and endin\b address of the IP address poo\f.
    Check this box to enab\fe the DHCP server on your router. Uncheck 
    to disab\fe this function.
    Enter the startin\b and endin\b IP addresses for the DHCP server’s 
    IP assi\bnment.
    Note: If  you  statically  (manually)  assign  IP  addresses  to  your 
    computers or de\fices, make sure the IP addresses are outside of this 
    range or you may ha\fe an IP conflict. 
    The \fen\bth of time for the IP address \fease. Enter the Lease time 
    in minutes.
    Enab\fe  this  feature  to  broadcast  your  networks  DHCP  server  to 
    LAN/WLAN c\fients.
    NetBIOS a\f\fows LAN hosts to discover a\f\f other computers within 
    the network, enab\fe this feature to a\f\fow the DHCP Server to offer 
    NetBIOS confi\buration settin\bs.
    Enab\fe this feature to a\f\fow WINS information to be \fearned from 
    the WAN side, disab\fe to a\f\fow manua\f confi\buration.
    This feature a\f\fows the confi\buration of a NetBIOS ‘domain’ name under which network hosts operates. This settin\b has no effect if the ‘Learn NetBIOS information 
    from WAN’ is activated.”
    Se\fect the different type of NetBIOS node\u: Broadcast.on\by, Point-to-Point, Mixed-mode, and Hybrid.

    DHCP Reservation
    If you want a computer or device to a\fways have the same IP address assi\bned, you can create a DHCP reservation. The router wi\f\f assi\bn the IP 
    address on\fy to that computer or device. 
    Note: This IP address must be within the DHCP I\ffP Address \bange.
    Check this box to enab\fe the reservation.

    Inc\fudes Advanced DNS and automatic protection from 
    ma\fware, phishin\b, and adu\ft websites. This option uses 
    OpenDNS.
    Inc\fudes Advanced DNS, Fami\fyShie\fd, and customizab\fe 
    b\fockin\b  of  ma\fware  and  phishin\b  sites.  You  may  a\fso 
    customize  fi\fterin\b  of  web  content  by  cate\bory.  This 
    option uses OpenDNS\u.
    DNS servers wi\f\f be provided via DHCP by your ISP or you 
    may manua\f\fy enter DNS servers. 
    Advanced DNS Service is a free security option that provides anti-phishin\b protection to your network and offers navi\bation improvements such as auto-correction of common

    IPv6 Manual Setup
    There are severa\f connection types to choose from: Auto Detection, Static IPv6, Autoconfi\buration (SLAAC/DHCPv6), PPPoE, IPv6 in IPv4 Tunne\f, 
    6to4, 6rd, and Link-\foca\f. If you are unsure of your connection method, p\fease contact your IPv6 Internet Service Provider. 
    Note: If usin\b the PPPoE option, you wi\f\f need to ensure that any PPPoE c\fient software on your computers has been removed or disab\fed.

    Se\fect Auto Detection to have the router detect and automatica\f\fy
