    SAFETY MEASURES
Each element of this machine is a potential safety
hazard if used improperly or poorly maintained.
We recommend that special attention is paid to the
sections starting with the following headings:
Indicates the risk of serious personal injury, or
even death, if the instructions are not followed.
Indicates the potential risk of serious personal
injury or damage to material if the instructions
    are not followed.
    TRAINING
A1. Read the instructions in this manual care-
    fully.
Before using the brush cutter, the operator
must be familiar with the controls and know
how to stop the motor quickly. The operator
must also know how to use it correctly.
A2. Use the brush cutter for the purpose it
    was designed for, i.e.:
–Cutting grass with a Nylon line (e.g.
around the edges of lawns, flower beds,
walls, fences and small grassy areas to
tidy the areas that have been cut with a
    lawnmower).
–Cutting tall grass or twigs with the help of
    metal or plastic blades.
–If the brush cutter bears the warning
symbol on page 4, the use of a circular
saw blade is forbidden. Using a circular
saw blade with brush cutters bearing this
symbol puts the operator at risk of
    serious injury or even death.
A3. Never let children or people who have not
read the instructions use the brush cutter.
Locals laws may set a minimum age for the
    user.
A4. Do not use the brush cutter:
–When animals or especially children are in
the vicinity. Always ensure that any
other people present are at least 15
metres away from the machine. The
brush cutter is designed for use by one
    person at a time.
–If the user has taken medicine, alcohol
or drugs that may slow reflexes, impair
    alertness and/or vision.
–If the operator is tired or unwell.
–If any of the safety devices, such as the
head or exhaust silencer guard are not
in place or are damaged. –If the safety device is not the specific
device for that cutting machine. If a
head with a nylon line is used, ensure that
the line-cutting bladeis in place so that
the line is cut to the correct length.
–If using a head with nylon line make sure
that the line cutting blade is in place, to
ensure the right length of line.
A5. Do not modify the brush cutter: this may
    jeopardise operator safety by exposing
him/her to accidents and serious injury.
A6. The owner or user is responsible for any
accidents or risks run by third parties or their
    possessions.
    PREPARATION
B1. Do not use the brush cutter when bare-
foot or wearing sandals. Do not use the
brush cutter with baggy clothes that
could get caught on branches or in the
    rotating tool.
While the machine is in use, the operator
must wear long trousers, boots or safety
shoes with slip-proof soles, goggles or a
    protective visor to protectagainst flying
objects, gloves, (preferably in leather) and
earmuffs or a soundproof helmet. To pro-
tect the head,a safety helmetmust be worn
in areas at risk from falling objects (branch-
    es, stones etc.).
B2. The area to be cut must be inspected metic-
ulously so that all foreign bodies that
could be thrown up by the machine
(stones, pieces of iron, bones, etc.) can be
    removed.
    B3. Petrol is highly inflammable.
–Store the fuel in purpose-made canisters.
–Fill up the tank outdoors only. Do not
smoke either when performing this opera-
tion or any other that involves handling
    fuel.
–Never remove the petrol tank cap or fill it
up while the motor is in operation or
    while it is still hot.
–Do not start the machine if the tank is
overflowing with fuel: if fuel is spilt,
remove the brush cutter from the area and
do not light flamesuntil the fuel has eva-
porated and the vapours have dissipated.
–Move at least 3 metres from the filling
point before starting up the machine.
–Close the tank and the container properly
by ensuring that the caps are on tight.
B4.Replace the exhaust silencers if they are
    faulty.

B5. Each time the brush cutter is used, a gen-
eral check must be carried out on the condi-
tion of the equipment, cutting unit, guards
and fastening elements before switching it
on, to ensure that the parts are not worn,
damaged or loose. Always check that the
throttle lever and “STOP” button work
    correctly.
Check that the lever that blocks the throttle
(safety lever) works correctly; the throttle
should only work when the safety lever on
the upper side of the handgrip is pressed
    simultaneously.
B6. Check that the handles and the harness
attachment are in the correct position and
that the machine is well balanced.
B7. Ensure that the “minimum revs” speed is
set correctly so that the machine stops
running when the throttle is released.
    USE
C1. Do not start the motor indoors or in poor-
    ly ventilated areaswhere toxic carbon
    monoxide fumes can accumulate.
    C2. Work in daylight only.
C3.Wherever possible, do not use the
    machine on wet ground.
C4.While working, remain at a safe distance
away from the cutting tool. This distance
depends on the harness connection point.
C5. Always walk. Never run or stand in an
    unstable position.Be careful of obstacles
such as stones, tree stumps etc. which the
    operator could trip over.
C6. Do not use the machine on slopes that
could put the operator at risk. Mind your
step when working on a slope and always
work in a stable position.Always use the
cutter on the flat. Never use it while walking
    up or down a slope.
C7. It is the user’s responsibility to assess
the potential risks of the work area and to
take all the necessary precautions to
    ensure his/her safety.This is especially
important when working on slopes, unstable,
    slippery or moving ground.
    C8. If metal cutting tools(e.g. 3-pointed disks,
4-pointed disks) are used, there is the risk
that they will recoil if they hit a solid
object(stones, tree stumps etc.). The brush
cutter will be forced in the opposite direction
to the one in which the tool rotates.
C9. Never adjust the motor timing so that it
    exceeds its standard running speed.
C10. Before starting the motor, ensure thatanyone in the vicinity is at a safe distance
away (at least 15 metres) from the
machine, that the cutting tool is not
touching the ground and that the machine
    is stable.
C11. When the tool rotates, it may throw up
objects from the ground. Keep a safe dis-
tance of at least 15 metres between the
    machine and people or animals.
Do not use the brush cutter near vehicles
or anything else that might be damaged
    by flying objects.
C12.Start up the motor carefully in accordance
with the user’s instructions, keeping well
    away from the cutting tool.
C13.Always keep the brush cutter attached to the
    harness while you are working.
C14. Stop the motor and disconnect the spark
plug wire in the following cases:
–Before carrying out any work on the cut-
    ting system.
    –Before cleaning, checking, adjusting or
    repairing the brush cutter.
–Only adjustments to the carburettor and
the minimum setting are made with the
    motor running. During these operations,
work with the drive shaft fitted. Also ensu-
re that the equipment does not come into
contact with any object and that the brush
cutter is in a stable position.
–After hitting a foreign object, inspect the
cutting system and the drive shaft to check
that there is no damage. Make any repairs
necessary before using the brush cutter
    again.
–If the brush cutter starts to shake in an
irregular manner, look for the cause of the
    vibrations and remedy this.
C15. Stop the motor in the following cases:
–Whenever the brush cutter is left unsuper-
    vised.
    –Before filling with fuel.
–During movement from one work area to
    another.
C16. Do not use the machine continuously, for
lengthy periods. Pause every so often and
    switch off the motor.
    MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
D1. Ensure that all screws and bolts are tight-
ly fastened so that the machine can be
used in safety. Regular maintenance is
essential for safety and a consistently high
    performance.
D2. Do not use the machine if any parts are

damaged or worn. These parts must be
    replaced, not repaired.Use original spare
parts. The cutting tools must always bear the
manufacturer’s mark as well as the maxi-
mum working speed. Spare parts that are not
the same quality may damage the machine
    and jeopardise safety.
D3. Wear thick gloves to remove and refit the
    cutting tools.
D4. Never store the brush cutter with fuel in
the tank in an environment where petrol
fumes could come into contact with a
flame, spark or sources of extreme heat.
D5. Store the brush cutter in a clean and dry
environment, out of the reach of children.
D6. Let the motor cool down before it is
    stored in any environment.
D7. To reduce the risk of fire, clean any leaves,
grass or excess oil from the brush cutter,
especially its motor, cooling fins, exhaust
    pipe and fuel tank.
D8. If the fuel tank has to be drained, do so
outdoors when the motor is cold.
D9. Do not add, remove or modify any
    machine components.
    This could cause:
–injuries to the operator and other peo-
    ple present
    –damage to the machine
    moreover, this invalidates the warranty.
D10. During storage or transport, always cover the
blade with its guard in order to prevent acci-
    dental injury.

    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
    FRONT HANDGRIP
Brush cutters are normally supplied with the front
    handgrip disassembled inside the packaging.
Therefore, it must be attached following the
    procedure indicated below.
    MONO BRUSH CUTTERS (Fig. 1)
The front handgrip together with its guard must be
attached. A plastic spacer (E)is positioned on the
drive tube, ensuring a minimum distance betweenthe rear and front handgrips. The front handgrip
must be positioned on the drive tube in front of this
spacer. Fit the square nuts in the specific seats in
the handgrip, then fit the screws with washers.
Tighten the screws gradually and uniformly. Before
fully tightening, adjust the position of the front
handgrip. Terminate by tightening the screws to the
    same degree.
Do not modify or damage the
metal spacer. Comply with the minimum dis-
tance between handgrips. Always work in safe-
    ty.
    DUPLEX BRUSH CUTTER (Fig. 2)
The handlebar-type front handgrip must be fixed.
Loosen the handgrip locking screw by unscrewing
    knob A (fig.2).
NB: do not unscrew the locking screw completely.
Simply loosen the screw as much as is needed to
be able to insert the handgrip into the locking
    mechanism.
Place the two handgrip halves in the specific
support. Make sure the handgrip halves are joined
correctly. Tighten knob A without over tightening.
Adjust the position of the handgrip, then tighten
    until it is locked securely
    never work with handgrips that
are loose or not correctly tightened.
a metal spacer is located on the
drive, at the level of the fixing point of the front
handlebar (ref. E fig. 2). This indicates the cor-
    rect position
of the handlebar. Do not alter the position of the
handle support of the front handlebar. Work in
    safety.
    FRONT GUARD (Fig. 3)
The guard must be fitted so as to
comply with the correct position of the line cutting
blade and to protect the operator. Never work with-
out the guard. The guard must be fitted using the
specific screws and washers provided .
The guard must be of the correct type both for the
model of brush cutter and for the cutting tool used.
When the line head is used, the guard must be
    fitted with line-cutting blade.
When the metal disk is used, the relevant front
guard without line-cutting blade (provided) must be
    installed.WARNING
