When a decode mode which differs from the type of
disc being played is selected
Insert a DVD disc in the center unit to display the type of audio
being played in the Decode mode indicator in the display window.
Audio cannot be played if a decode mode which differs from the
displayed mode is selected.
The selected decode mode flashes to indicate that the selected
decode mode does not allow audio playback.
Example: When DTS is selected as the decode mode for Dolby
digital audio.

The lamp display indicates the type of disc (DVD or CD) currently
playing as follows.
With Dolby digital 5.1 ch or DTS digital 5.1 ch surround
With Dolby digital (Lt/Rt *)
With stereo sound (eg Audio CD)
* Lt/Rt refers to the downmix output when connected to a device
that uses Dolby Pro Logic.
Using the Sleep Timer
Using the Sleep Timer, you can fall asleep to music and know the
system will turn off by itself rather than play all night.
From the remote controls:
Press SLEEP repeatedly.

To play a disc
On the front panel
1.Switch the TV on and display video from this
system.
Set the TV input to video 1 (or video 2 or 3).
2.Insert the disc.
1Press 0*on the center unit to open the disc tray.
Change the playback source to DVD.
2Place the disc in the tray.
3Press 0 to close the disc tray.
Playback begins immediately a DVD auto-playback disc is
inserted.
3.Play the disc.

On-screen guide icons ÑÑÑÑÑÑÑÑÑÑÑÑ
During DVD playback, you may see icons displayed over the
picture. These have the following meanings.
Displayed at the beginning of a scene recorded from
multiple angles (see page 30).
Displayed at the beginning of a scene recorded with
multiple audio languages (see page 32).
Displayed at the beginning of a scene recorded with
multiple subtitle languages (see page 29).
A setting is possible to suppress display of these icons. The setting is
entered in the on-screen...

On the front panel:
Press ¢ or 4.
Press 4 to locate the beginning of the current chapter, title, or
track, and press ¢ to locate the beginning of the next chapter, title,
or track.
Note:
¥ When you play a Video CD disc with PBC function or a DVD
disc, the unit may locate different place, but it will generally
locate the beginning of the title or chapter or track.
Resuming playback
The unit stores the position on a disc where
you want to interrupt playback at, and
resumes playback from that position...

Selecting the location to view from the
video CD menu
When playing back Video CDs recorded with
PBC (playback control), a list of the recorded
contents may appear on the TV screen as a menu. The location to
view may be conveniently called up from this menu screen.

chapter, or track
The beginning of previous or later chapters
or tracks may be skipped.

For Video CD: During playback without PBC function

1.Press ¢ or 4.
¥ Press ¢ the required number of times to move to a later
chapter or track.
¥ Press 4 the required number of times to return to the
previous chapter or track.
¥ Press 4 once to return to the beginning of the chapter or
track currently playing.

The on-screen display appears on the TV screen.
2.Use CURSOR 5/° to move the pointer to [TIME
SEARCH], then press ENTER.
The color of [TIME SEARCH] changes and ÒGO TO:Ó
