ON SCREEN LANGUAGE
The on-screen language is the language used in the display for the
MAIN MENU, SOUND MENU, SPEAKER MENU, and DVD
MENU.
The on-screen language is set to ENGLISH. The ON SCREEN
LANGUAGE option is not available on this system.

Changing the DECODE MODE

This option is used to change the digital audio decode mode.
The default setting of [AUTO/PCM] is recommended for regular
use.
When the playback source is DVD, you may select a DECODE
MODE.
1.Open the MAIN MENU

2.Move the pointer to DECODE MODE using the 5/°
cursors.
3.Use the 2/3 cursors to set the decode mode.
The following decoding options are available: AUTO/PCM,

Adjusting input signal

When using the DSP mode effect during playback from an analog
device, the sound will occasionally be distorted due to a overly-
strong input signal. In these instances, it is possible to adjust the
level of the input signal. Only input signals from analog devices (TV
SOUND, VCR, TAPE, AUX, MD, DBS) may be adjusted in this
way.
1.Open the SOUND MENU.

Opening the SPEAKER MENU
1.Stop DVD image playback on the TV screen.
Select a playback source other than the tuner. If the playback
source is set to DVD, press STOP to quit playback.
2.Press MAIN ON SCREEN.
The MAIN MENU will be displayed.
3.Move the pointer to the SPEAKER MENU tag using
the 2/3 cursors.

Playing a test tone
When you wish to play a test tone, make sure the sound mode is set
to ÒSURROUND ONÓ or ÒTHEATER.Ó The test tone will not play
in other modes.
1.Open the SPEAKER MENU.

2.Switch the speaker mode to EXPERT.
3.Move the pointer to TEST TONE using the 5/°
cursors.
4.Press ENTER.
Test tones will be played in the following order:
Left Front Speaker = Center Speaker = Right Front Speaker

Setting speaker level
1.Open the SPEAKER MENU.

2.Switch the speaker mode to EXPERT.
3.Move the pointer to the speaker selection box
using the 5/° cursors.
Use the 2/3 cursors to select SPEAKER LEVEL.
Pressing the 2/3 cursors switches between the following

Opening the DVD MENU
1.Change source to DVD, and stop playback.
When a Video CD or Audio CD is inserted, press 0 on the
center unit to open the disc tray.
2.Press DVD ON SCREEN.
The DVD MENU will be displayed.
3.When you are finished with on-screen settings,
press DVD ON SCREEN to close the DVD MENU.

Choosing audio language
Some DVD discs feature audio playback in multiple languages.
With these discs, it is possible to set the default language for audio
playback.
1.Open the DVD MENU.

2.Move the pointer to AUDIO LANGUAGE using the

Select monitor type
Most movie DVD discs are recorded for wide-screen TVs with a
height/width ratio of 16:9. It is possible to optimize playback of
these wide-screen TV images for viewing on a regular TV with a
height/width ratio of 4:3.
