Add Printer wizard)
The explanation here is given of how to install a Windows printer driver using 
the additional function of a Windows standard printer, without using an in-
staller for a Windows compatible computer.
4.1 Compliant OS
The printer driver is can be used on the following OS:
The Driver CD contains the PCL printer driver, and the PS Driver CD contains 
the PostScript PPD printer driver.

4.2 Windows Vista/Server 2008
4.2.1 Network connection (Port9100/LPR/SMB)
For Windows Vista/Server 2008, an installation can be made either by 
searching a printer on the network or creating a printer port.
TCP/IP setting for this machine
Specify the IP address on TCP/IP Setting of this machine.
For details on specifying the IP address of this machine, refer to the User’s 
Guide [POD Administrator’s Reference].
RAW port number setting for the copier
To use Port9100 printing, enable the RAW port number (9100 at default), in 
the TCP/IP Setting screen of the copier.
For details on specifying the RAW port number of this machine, refer to the 
User’s Guide [POD Administrator’s Reference].
LPD setting for the copier
To use LPR printing, enable LPD print on “LPD Setting” of the copier.
For details on the LPD settings of this machine, refer to the User’s Guide 
[POD Administrator’s Reference].
Printer driver installation using the Add Printer Wizard
0 The installation should be performed by a qualified system administrator 
or printer administrator.
1Set the “Driver CD or PS Driver CD” in the CD-ROM drive.
2Click [Start] - [Control Panel].
3Click [Hardware and Sound], and click [Printers].
– If Control Panel is displayed with Classic View, double-click 
“Printers”.
4Click [Add a printer].

5Select [Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer].
6Select this machine from the list, and then click the [OK] button.
– When using the LPR/Port9100 protocol, select the printer having its 
IP address. 
– When using an SMB connection, select the printer having its “\\Net-
BIOS name\print service name”.
– It may take some time to finish searching the entire list of printers.
7Click [Have Disk].
8Click [Browse].
9Specify the desired folder on the Driver CD or PS Driver CD that 
contains the printer driver, and then click the [Open] button.
– Select printer driver (PCL, PostScript PPD) to be used.
– For details of the built-in CD-ROM construction, see “Folder struc-
ture on the CD-ROM (bizhub PRO 950 Driver CD-ROM)” on 
page 1-6.
10Click [OK].
Printers list window appears.

11Click [Next].
12Follow the on-screen instructions.
– If the Windows Logo Testing or Digital Signature dialog box ap-
pears, click the [Continue] or [Yes].
13Click [Finish].
14When installation is complete, make sure that the icon of the installed 
printer appears in the Printers window.
15Remove the CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive.
This completes the printer driver installation.
Printer driver installation by creating a port using the Add Printer Wizard
1Insert the Driver CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer.
2Click the [Start] button, and then click “Control Panel”.
3From “Hardware and Sound”, click “Printer”.
– If Control Panel is displayed with Classic View, double-click “Print-
ers”.
The Printers window appears.

4Click “Add a printer” from the toolbar.
The Add Printer window appears.
5Click “Add a local printer”.
The Select a Printer Port dialog box appears.
6Click “Create a new port”, and select the port type.
– When using an LPR/Port9100 connection, select “Standard TCP/IP 
Port”.
– When using an SMB connection, select “Local Port”.
7Click the [Next].
8Specify the IP address and port.
– When using an LPR/Port9100 connection, select “TCP/IP Device”, 
and then enter the IP address.
– When using an SMB connection, enter “\\NetBIOS name\print serv-
ice name” in the “Enter a port name” box.
– Enter the same NetBIOS name and print service name those 
appear in “Print Setting” in the SMB Setting screen of the copier.

9Click the [Next] button.
– If the Additional Port Information Required dialog box appears, go 
to step 10.
– If the Install the printer driver dialog box appears, go to step 13.
10Select “Custom”, and then click the [Settings] button.
11Change the settings according to the port, and then click the [OK].
– For an LPR connection, select “LPR”, and then enter “Print” in the 
“Queue name” box.
– For a Port9100 connection, select “RAW”, and then enter the RAW 
port number (9100 at default) in the “Port Number” box.
– The information entered here is case-sensitive.
12Click the [Next].
The Install the printer driver dialog box appears.
13Click the [Have Disk].
14Click the [Browse].
15Specify the desired folder on the CD-ROM that contains the printer 
driver, and then click the [Open].
– Select printer driver (PCL, PostScript PPD) to be used.
– For details of the built-in CD-ROM construction, see “Folder struc-
ture on the CD-ROM (bizhub PRO 950 Driver CD-ROM)” on 
page 1-6.
16Click the [OK].
The “Printers” list appears.

17Click the [Next].
18Follow the on-screen instructions.
– If the User Account Control window appears, click the [Continue] 
button.
– If the Verify the publisher dialog box of Windows Security appears, 
click “Install this driver software anyway”.
19Click the [Finish].
20After installation is completed, make sure that the icon of the installed 
printer appears in the Printers window.
21Remove the CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive.
This completes the printer driver installation.

4.2.2 Network connection (IPP or IPPS)
In the case of IPP print, set a port while in the installation of a printer driver.
TCP/IP setting for this machine
Specify the IP address on TCP/IP Setting of this machine.
For details on specifying the IP address of this machine, refer to the User’s 
Guide [POD Administrator’s Reference].
Specifying the IPP settings for the copier
Enable IPP printing in “IPP Setting” of the copier.
To use IPPS printing, the certificate must be registered to this machine. For 
details, refer to the User’s Guide [POD Administrator’s Reference].
Printer driver installation using the Add Printer wizard

6In the window showing the search results, click “The printer that I want 
isn’t Listed”.
7In the “Select a shared printer by name” box, enter the URL for the cop-
ier in the following format, and then click the [Next] button.
– http:// (IP_address_of_machine) /ipp Example: If the IP address of 
the copier is 192.168.1.20, enter http://192.168.1.20/ipp.
– When specifying to use IPP printing, enter “https:// < host 
name>./ipp”. The window for confirming the user 
name and password may appear in the course of installation.
8Click the [Have Disk].
9Click the [Browse].
10Specify the desired folder on the Driver CD or PS Driver CD that con-
tains the printer driver, and then click the [Open].
– Select printer driver (PCL, PostScript PPD) to be used.

11Click the [OK].
The “Printer” list appears.

15When the installation is completed, make sure that the icon of the in-
stalled printer appears in the Printers window.
16Remove the CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive.
This completes the printer driver installation.
