    1.   Hardware Setup
    Getting to know your router
    The AC1450 Smart WiFi Router with AC dual band delivers gigabit WiFi and Gigabit Ethernet 
    speeds. It offers the best wireless coverage for large homes and is ideal for homes with ten or 
    more wireless devices.
    Compatible with next generation WiFi devices and backward compatible with 802.11 a/b/g/n 
    devices, it enables HD streaming throughout your home. With up to 9751 Mbps speed and 
    simultaneous dual-band WiFi technology, the AC1450 avoids wireless interference, ensuring top 
    WiFi speeds and reliable connections. This technology also provides the best connectivity for 
    dual-band wireless devices like iPad and iPhone5. The dual-core 800 MHz processor delivers 
    high-performance connectivity, while the USB 3.0 port provides up to 10 times faster USB hard 
    drive access. 
    If you already set up your router, you can skip this chapter. If you have not done that yet, this 
    chapter covers the hardware setup. 
    Chapter 2, Getting Started, explains how to access your 
    router to view or change its settings.

    Open the box and remove the router, cables, and installation guide.

    Hardware Features
    Before you cable your router, take a moment to become familiar with the \
    front, side, and back 
    panels and the label. Pay particular attention to the LEDs on the front \

    The router front panel has the status LEDs and icons shown in the follow\
    ing figure.

    • Solid amber . The router is starting up.
    • Blinking amber . 
     The firmware is upgrading, or the Restore Factory Settings button was 
    pressed.
    • Solid green . The 
     router is ready.
    • Blinking green . The 
     firmware is corrupted. Visit  www.netgear.com/support.
    • Off. Power is not supplied to the router
     .
    Internet
    • Solid green . The Internet connection is ready.
    • Solid amber . 
     The Ethernet cable connection to the modem has been detected.
    • Off. No Ethernet cable is connected to the modem.
    Wireless
    • Solid blue. The wireless radio is operating in either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz mode.
    • Blinking . The 
     router is in WPS mode. 
    • Off. 
    The wireless radios are off for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
    USB
    • Solid blue. The router has accepted the USB device. The USB device is ready to be used. 
    • Blinking blue. 
     A USB device is plugged in and is trying to connect. 
    • Off. No USB device is connected; someone clicked the Safely Remove Hardware\
     button, and 
    it is now safe to remove the attached USB device.

    The WiFi and WPS buttons toggle the WiFi and WPS functions on and off. 
    • W
    iFi On/Off button . Pressing and holding this button for 2 seconds turns on and off the 
    2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless radios. If the Wireless LED is lit, the wirel\
    ess radios are on. 
    If this LED is off, the wireless radios are turned off and you cannot connect wirelessly to 
    the router.
    • WPS button. 
     You can use this button to use WPS to add a wireless device or computer 
    to your wireless network. The Wireless LED blinks blue when the router is trying to add 
    the wireless device or computer. The LED stays solid blue when wireless security is 
    enabled in the router.

    The rear panel has the connections and buttons shown in the following fi\
    gure.
