    Inserting and Removing the Card 
    (optional)/the Battery
    •Check that this unit is turned off.•Confirm that there is no foreign object.•We recommend using a Panasonic card.
    1:Slide the [LOCK] switch B, and 
    release the lock.
    2:Slide the release lever  A and 
    open the side door.
    •Always use genuine Panasonic batteries 
    (DMW-BCF10PP).
    •If you use other batteries, we cannot 
    guarantee the quality of this product.
    Battery: Being careful about the 
    battery orientation, insert all the way 
    until you hear a locking sound and 
    then check that it is locked by lever 
    C. Pull the lever  C in the direction 
    of the arrow to remove the battery.
    Card: Push it securely all the way 
    until you hear a “click” while being 
    careful about the direction in which you insert it. To 
    remove the card, push the card until it clicks, then pull the 
    card out upright.
    D: Do not touch the connection terminals of the card.
    Close the side door until it clicks, 
    and then lock the [LOCK] switch by 
    sliding it toward [ 1].
    •Confirm that the red part on the release 
    lever is not showing.

    Setting Date/Time (Clock Set)
    •The clock is not set when the camera is shipped.
    •[Precautions] is displayed. Be sure to check this so that you can maintain 
    the waterproof performance. [Please set the clock] is displayed by 
    selecting [No] before it starts or by pressing [MENU/SET] after viewing 
    the last screen (12/12).
    For details about the [Precautions] demo, refer to P12.
    Press [MENU/SET].
    Press 2/1 to select the items (year, 
    month, day, hour, minute, display 
    sequence or time display format), and 
    press 3 /4 to set.
    •You can cancel without setting the clock by 
    pressing [ ].
    Press the [OFF/ON] button.

    Press [MENU/SET] to set.
    •A setting screen for automatic clock correction is displayed.
    Select [Yes] to automatically correct the clock, and then 
    press [MENU/SET].
    •[GPS Setting] will be set to [ON], and the clock is automatically corrected 
    to the current time.
    Press [MENU/SET] in the message display screen.
    Press 2/1 to select the home area, and then press 
    [MENU/SET].
    Select [Clock Set] in the [Rec] or [Setup] menu, and press [MENU/SET].•It can be changed in steps 3 and 4 to set the clock.

    Selecting the [Rec] Mode
    ∫List of [Rec] Modes
    Press [MODE].
    Press 3/ 4/2/1 to select the mode.
    Press [MENU/SET].
    !Normal Picture Mode
    The subjects are recorded using your own settings.
    ¦Intelligent Auto Mode
    The subjects are recorded using settings automatically selected by the camera.
     Sports Mode
    Use this mode to take pictures of sporting events, etc.
     Snow Mode
    This allows you to take pictures that show the snow as white as possible at a ski 
    resort or a snow-covered mountain.
     Beach & Snorkeling Mode
    This mode is optimal for taking pictures underwater and at the beach.
     Underwater Mode
    This is optimal for taking pictures underwater deeper than 12 m (40 feet) by the 
    use of the marine case (DMW-MCFT3; optional)
    ÛScene Mode
    This allows you to take pictures that match the scene being recorded.
    3D Photo Mode
    Takes a 3D picture.

    Taking Pictures Using the Automatic 
    Function 
    (ñ: Intelligent Auto Mode)
    The camera will set the most appropriate settings to match the subject and the 
    recording conditions so we recommend this mode for beginners or those who 
    want to leave the settings to the camera and take pictures easily.
    Press [MODE].
    Press 3/4/2/1 to select 
    [Intelligent Auto], and then press 
    [MENU/SET].
    Press the shutter button halfway to 
    focus and then press it fully to take 
    the picture.
    1  Focus indication•The AF area  2 is displayed around the 
    subject’s face by the Face Detection function. 
    In other cases, it is displayed at the point on 
    the subject which is in focus.

    When the camera identifies the optimum scene, the icon of the scene concerned 
    is displayed in blue for 2 seconds, after which its color changes to the usual red.
    •[¦] is set if none of the scenes are applicable, and the standard settings are 
    set.
    •When [ ], [ ] or [ ] is selected, the camera automatically detects a person’s 
    face, and it will adjust the focus and exposure.  (Face Detection)

    Recording Motion Pictures
    This can record full high definition motion pictures that are compatible with the 
    AVCHD format or motion pictures recorded in Motion JPEG.
    Audio will be recorded in monaural.
    Note
    •Maximum time to record motion pictures continuously with [GFS]/[FSH] in 
    [AVCHD] is 29 minutes 59 seconds.
    •Motion picture recorded continuously in [Motion JPEG] is up to 2 GB. Only the 
    maximum recordable time for 2 GB is displayed on the screen.
    Start recording by pressing the 
    motion picture button.

    •You can record motion pictures fitting each 
    Recording Mode.
    •Release the motion picture button right after 
    you press it.
    •The recording state indicator (red)  C will flash 
    while recording motion pictures.
    Stop the recording by pressing the motion picture button 
    again.

    Playing Back Pictures ([Normal Play])
    Press 2 or 1.
    •After selecting the motion picture, press  3 to 
    start playback.

    Deleting Pictures
    Once deleted, pictures cannot be recovered. •Pictures on the built-in memory or the card, that are being played back will be 
    deleted.
    Press [ (].
    •Normal Playback is displayed automatically 
    when the power is turned on by pressing and 
    holding the [
    (] button.
    To delete a single picture
    Select the picture to be deleted, and 
    then press [ ].
    •Confirmation screen is displayed. 
    Picture is deleted by selecting [Yes].

    Setting the Menu
    ∫Close the menu
    Press [ ] several times or press the shutter button halfway.
    Press [MENU/SET].
    Press 3/ 4/2/1 to select menu and 
    then press [MENU/SET].

    and then press [MENU/SET].
    •It will switch to next page when you reach the 
    bottom. (It will also switch by pressing the 
    zoom button)
    •Screen to the right is an example of selecting 
    [AF Mode] in [Rec] mode Menu.
    Press 3/ 4 to select the setting and 
    then press [MENU/SET].
    •Depending on the menu item, its setting may 
    not appear or it may be displayed in a different 
    way.
    •Screen at right is an example to set the 
    [AF Mode] from [Ø] (1-area-focusing) to [š] 
    (Face Detection).
