    1. Introduction
    This manual describes how to convert the hard disk drive installed in th\
    e WJ-HD300 series from the P-ATA type to the S-ATA type.
    Applicable models: WJ-HD309, WJ-HD316, WJ-HD309A, WJ-HD316A
    2. Preparation
    (1) Screwdriver
    (2) S-ATA conversion kit (part number: 0E0A0027AA)

    3. Replacement Procedure
    Important +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++\
    ++++++++++++++++++++++ • Do not detach the cable connecting the unit and the front panel while the HDD status indicators are still lit or until 30 seconds have passed 
    since the HDD status indicators went off.
    • Protect the hard disk drives from static electricity.
    • Do not stack them, or keep them upright.
    • Do not use an electric screwdriver to fix them. (Tightening torque: Approx. 0.49 N · m (5 kgf · cm))
    • Avoid rapid changes in the temperature/humidity to prevent condensation. (Acceptable change: within 15°C/h (59 °F/h))

    (1)  Open the connectors cover on the front panel, and remove 
    the screw.
    Then, remove the front panel by sliding it to the left.

    (2)  Disconnect the connector from the front panel.
    (3)  Remove four screws that fix the HDD mounting unit, and 
    then pull the HDD unit toward you by holding the tabs of 
    the angle.
    (4)  Remove four screws fixing the upper HDD.
    Disconnect the IDE connector and power connector from 
    the HDD, and remove the HDD from the HDD mounting 
    angle.

    When removing the screws, hold the HDD by hand to prevent 
    it from falling and being impacted.

    (5)  To remove the lower HDD, disconnect the power 
    connector from the ATA board.
    Then, remove the screw A; one of the three screws fixing 
    the ATA board.
     
    (6)  Remove four screws fixing the lower HDD.
    Disconnect the connectors from the HDD, and remove the 
    HDD from the HDD mounting angle.

    When removing the screws, hold the HDD by hand to prevent 
    it from falling and being impacted.

    (7)  Disconnect the IDE cable from the ATA board.
    (8)  Remove the two other screws fixing the ATA board, and 
    then remove the ATA board.
    (9)  Remove two screws fixing the ATA angle, and then 
    remove the ATA angle.
    (10)  Install new S-ATA angle on the HDD mounting angle with 
    the two screws removed in step (9).

    (11) Install the S-ATA board on the S-ATA angle with the three 
    screws removed in step (5) and step(8).
    (12)  Install two S-ATA HDDs in the HDD mounting angle with 
    four screws each.
    Note:  No jumper is provided on the S-ATA HDD.
    Install the HDD so that the board side faces down and the 
    connector side faces the S-ATA board.
    (13)  Connect the S-ATA cables and the power cable to the 
    S-ATA board and the HDDs as shown right. Make sure 
    that the connectors have been inserted completely.

    (14)  Install the HDD mounting unit with the four screws removed in step (3)\
     in the reverse order of removal.
    Caution ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++\
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ •When installing the HDD mounting unit, remove dust around the connector that connects the HDD mounting unit the and the main unit. 
    Adhesion of dust may cause a trouble.
    •Insert the connectors and screws firmly.

    (15)  Attach the S-ATA label, small (for front) to the front 
    chassis.
    (16)  Connect the connector to the front panel, and install the 
    front panel with the screw remove in step (1) and close the 
    connectors cover.

    (17)  Attach the S-ATA label, large (for top) to the top panel.
    Attach the S-ATA label, small (for front) to the connectors 
    cover.
    Note: 
    The new HDDs need to be formatted before operation. Refer to the Operati\
    ng Instructions for detail.
