The VTR indications shown on the monitor screen are
known as the On Screen Display (OSD).
This VTR allows many settings to be made at the OSD.
Preparation
ÁTurn on the VTR and monitor.
Settings Using the On Screen Display
To use the On Screen Display:
OSD Mode
Use the SUPER switch to perform the OSD settings.
Set the OSD displays on the monitor screen which is
connected to OUTPUT1 or 2.
The OSD displays simultaneously appear or do not appear
at OUTPUT1 and 2.

3Select OFF or S1 using | or {, and then press SET.
OFF: Normal mode.
S1: When the S-Video input socket on the monitor
that is connected is an S1-Video socket.
(If a wide mode video signal is sent to the
monitor, the monitor screen size will
automatically switch to wide mode.)
4Press EXIT to exit the On Screen Display.

1Press MENU, and select OPTION SETUP1 using Y or
Z, and then press SET.

back or recording a fast-moving video.
ON: To record with high quality.

Audio Displays on Unit’s Display Area
Audio Monitor Display
ST1 display:
This lights when STEREO1 was selected while playback
was underway.
ST2 display:
This lights when STEREO2 was selected while playback
was underway.
When STEREO1i2 (MIX) audio is selected, STEREO2
appears on the display.
Audio Recording Data Display
16bit display:
This lights while a tape containing a 16-bit audio recording
is being played back.

TAPE SPEED
1Press MENU and select OPTION SETUP2 using W or
X, and then press SET.
2Select TAPE SPEED using W or X, and then press
SET.
3Select SP or LP using O or N, and then press SET.
SP: This is the position that is normally used.
LP: In this mode, the duration is 1.5 times longer than
the SP mode.
4Press EXIT to exit the On Screen Display.

When a tape recorded in the LP mode is used, noise may
be generated in the form of mosaic patterns or other

Please read these precautions before operating this VTR.
Avoid Sudden Changes in Temperature
If the VTR is suddenly moved from a cold place to a warm
place, condensation may form on the tape and inside the
VTR. In this case, the “8”  dew indicator will flash on and off
and the VTR will not operate.
Dew May Form in the VTR if:
³The VTR is in a room where the heater has just been
turned on.
³The VTR is in a room with steam or high humidity.
³The VTR is brought from cold surroundings into a heated
room....
