Installing the Unit About the installation location • In order to ensure proper operation, install the unit maintaining the proper distances from surrounding objects, as shown in the following illustration. Notice • Do not move the unit immediately from a cold place to a warm place. It may cause dew. 1. Remove all packing tapes. 2. Set the LOCK/UNLOCK selector to unlock. a. Turning on the Unit Power Notice • Make sure that the scanner for connecting this unit is turned on. If it is not turned on, you cannot use this unit. • During long periods of non-use, conserve power by unplugging the AC adaptor from the outlet. Scanning Documents Notice • Make sure to remove paper clips and staples from documents before scanning. Failing to do so can damage the flatbed glass. • If the document is folded or creased, smooth it out before placing it on the flatbed glass. 1. Open the document cover ( A ). 2. Place the document face down, and align the edge of the document ( A ) with the standard mark ( B ) in the upper right of the flatbed glass.
