    							Intercom Features
    For assistance, please call 1-800-211-PANA (7262).31
    For KX-TG5432 users
    Call the desired unit by selecting the 
    extension number, shown in the upper 
    right of each handset’s display. The base 
    unit’s extension number is 0.
    LTo confirm the handset’s extension 
    number ([1] or [2]), place the handset 
    on the base unit or charger.
    LThe base unit will display the paging or 
    paged handset number (H1 or H2).
    From the handset to the base unit
    1Handset:
    Press {INTERCOM}, then press {0}.
    LYou can also select the base unit by 
    pressing {V} or {^} then pressing 
    {>}.
    LThe base unit will ring for 1 minute.
    LTo stop paging, press {OFF}.
    2Base unit:
    Press either {LOCATOR/INTERCOM 
    1} or {LOCATOR/INTERCOM 2} to 
    answer the page.
    3Handset:
    When finished talking, press {OFF} or 
    place the handset on the charger.
    Note:
    LDuring an intercom call, the handset 
    user can switch to the speaker by 
    pressing {s}. To switch back to the 
    receiver, press {C}.
    LTo adjust the base unit’s speaker 
    volume, press {>} or {}.
    LThe paged handset will beep for 1 
    minute.
    LTo stop paging, press {OFF}.
    2Handset 2:
    Press {C}, {s}, or {INTERCOM} to 
    answer.
    3When finished talking, press {OFF} or 
    place the handset on the base unit or 
    charger.

    Transferring a call (KX-
    TG5432 and KX-TG5433 
    only)
    Outside calls can be transferred between 2 
    handsets.
    1During an outside call, press 
    {INTERCOM}.
    LThe call will be put on hold.
    2KX-TG5432 users:
    To page the other handset, press 
    {handset[1]} or {handset[2]}.
    KX-TG5433 users:
    To page another handset, press 
    {HS[1]}, {HS[2]}, or {HS[3]}.
    3Wait for the paged party to answer.
    LThe paged handset user can answer 
    by pressing {C}, {s}, or 
    {INTERCOM}.
    LIf there is no answer, press {C} or 
    {s} to return to the outside call.
    4To complete the transfer, press {OFF}.
    Transferring a call without speaking to 
    the paged party
    1KX-TG5432 users:
    During an outside call, press 
    {INTERCOM}, then press 
    {handset[1]} or {handset[2]}.
    KX-TG5433 users:
    During an outside call, press 
    {INTERCOM}, then press {HS[1]}, 
    {HS[2]}, or {HS[3]}.
    2Press {OFF}.
    LThe outside call rings at the paged 
    handset.
    Note:
    LIf the paged party does not answer the 
    call, press {C} or {s} to return to the 
    call. If not answered within 1 minute, the call will ring at your handset again. If you 
    still do not answer the call within 4 
    minutes, the call will be disconnected.

    Conference calls (KX-
    TG5432 and KX-TG5433 
    only)
    A conference call allows 2 handsets to 
    speak together with an outside party.
    1During an outside call, press 
    {INTERCOM}.
    LThe call will be put on hold.
    2KX-TG5432 users:
    To page the other handset, press 
    {handset[1]} or {handset[2]}.
    KX-TG5433 users:
    To page another handset, press 
    {HS[1]}, {HS[2]}, or {HS[3]}.
    3When the paged party answers, press 
    {Conf} on your handset to establish a 
    conference call.
    L“Conference” will be displayed.
    LTo leave the conference, press 
    {OFF}. The other parties can 
    continue the conversation.
    Note:
    LThe outside call can be put on hold by 
    pressing {HOLD} during a conference 
    call. Communications between 
    extensions are not suspended. Only the 
    person who placed the call on hold can 
    resume the conference by pressing 
    {Conf}.
    LKX-TG5433 only:
    One more extensions can join the 
    conference call. To join the conference 
    call, press {C} or {s}.

    For your reference, a chart of all programmable functions is printed below. Details for each 
    item can be found on the corresponding pages. To program, press {MENU}, press {V} or 
    {^} to scroll through the menu, and press {>} or {Select} when the desired menu item or 
    setting is displayed.
    Important:
    LBefore programming, make sure the handset and base unit are not being used. The 
    handset must be operated near the base unit and while off the base unit or charger.

    Ringer settings
    Handset ringer volume
    4 levels (high/medium/low/off) are 
    available. The default setting is HIGH.
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Ringer setting” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Scroll to “Ringer volume” by pressing 
    {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    4Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    the desired volume.
    LTo turn the ringer off, press {V} 
    repeatedly until “Off ?” is displayed.
    5Press {Save}.
    Note:
    LWhen the ringer volume is set to off, the 
    handset will display “Ringer off”, and 
    will not ring for outside calls. The 
    handset will ring at the low level for 
    intercom calls.
    Handset ringer tone
    You can change the ringer tone heard 
    when an outside call is received. There are 
    3 tones and 4 melodies. The default 
    setting is “Tone 1”.
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Ringer setting” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Scroll to “Ringer tone” by pressing 
    {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    4Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    the desired setting.
    LYou can also select the ringer tone by 
    pressing {1} to {7}.
    LIf the ringer volume has been turned 
    off, the handset will not ring.
    5Press {Save}, then press {OFF}.
    Note:
    LIf you subscribe to a distinctive ring 
    service (such as IDENTA-RING), select 
    a tone (Tone 1 to 3). If you select a 
    melody, you will not be able to 
    distinguish lines by their ringers.
    LIf you select one of the melody ringer 
    patterns, the ringer will continue to 
    sound for several seconds if:
    – the caller hangs up before you answer 
    the call.
    – another person answers the call using 
    another phone connected on the 
    same line.

    Handset interrupt tone
    This tone lets you know when you receive 
    a call while you are on an intercom call 
    (page 30).
    “2” (default): The tone will sound 2 times.
    “On”: The tone will sound for as long as the 
    line rings.
    “Off”: Turns this feature off.
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Ringer setting” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Scroll to “Interrupt tone” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    4Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    the desired setting.
    5Press {Save}, then press {OFF}.
    Call options
    Auto talk
    When this feature is turned on, you can 
    answer a call by lifting the handset off the 
    base unit or charger without pressing 
    {C}. The default setting is OFF.
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Initial setting” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Scroll to “Auto talk” by pressing {V} 
    or {^}, then press {>}.
    4Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    the desired setting.
    5Press {Save}, then press {OFF}.
    Note:
    LIf you subscribe to Caller ID service and 
    want to view the caller’s information on 
    the handset display after lifting up the 
    handset to answer a call, turn off this 
    feature.

    Voice enhancer
    You can turn the voice enhancer feature on 
    or off. The default setting is OFF.
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Voice enhancer” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    “On” or “Off”.
    4Press {Save}, then press {OFF}.
    LWhen turned on, “J” will be 
    displayed.
    Caller ID edit
    You can turn the Caller ID number auto 
    edit feature (page 28) on or off. The default 
    setting is ON.
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Initial setting” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Scroll to “Caller ID edit” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    4Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    “On” or “Off”.

    Display options
    Handset LCD contrast
    You can adjust the handset display 
    contrast. There are 6 levels. The default 
    setting is level 3.
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Initial setting” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Scroll to “LCD contrast” by pressing 
    {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    4Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    the desired setting.
    5Press {Save}, then press {OFF}.
    Display language
    You can select either “English” (default) 
    or “Español” as the display language.
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Initial setting” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Scroll to “Change language” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    4Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    the desired language.
    LYou can also select by pressing 
    {English} or {Español}.
    5Press {Save} or {Salvar}, then press 
    {OFF}.
    Note:
    LIf you select a language you cannot 
    read, press {MENU} {0} {8} {1} {Save} 
    to change the display language to 
    English.
    Telephone settings
    Dialing mode
    If you cannot make calls, change this 
    setting depending on your telephone line 
    service.
    “Tone” (default): For tone dial service.
    “Pulse”: For rotary pulse dial service.
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Initial setting” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Scroll to “Set tel line” by pressing 
    {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    4Scroll to “Set dial mode” by pressing 
    {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    5Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    the desired setting.
    6Press {Save}, then press {OFF}.
    Flash time
    The flash time depends on your telephone 
    exchange or host PBX.
    You can select: “90ms” (milliseconds), 
    “100ms”, “110ms”, “250ms”, “300ms”, 
    “400ms”, “600ms”, or “700ms” (default).
    1Press {MENU}.
    2Scroll to “Initial setting” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    3Scroll to “Set tel line” by pressing 
    {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    4Scroll to “Set flash time” by 
    pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
    5Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select 
    the desired setting.
