Battery tips
The Velo 1 has two kinds of batteries:
wMain batteries power your H/PC during normal mobile use.
wThe backup battery provides enough power to keep your data
safe if no other power source (main batteries or external
power) is available. The backup battery was installed at the
factory, but it must be activated before it will protect your
data.
You can run your Velo 1 virtually anywhere on battery power. If

To replace the backup battery
When you see a message that you need to replace the backup
battery, follow these steps:
1Make sure the main batteries are working, or plug the
Velo 1 into a wall outlet with the supplied AC power
adapter.
2Remove the screw from the backup battery door, then
remove the door and the old battery.
3Insert a CR2032 (or equivalent) lithium coin cell backup
battery.
The side marked with a + (plus sign) faces up.
4Replace the backup battery door and the screw.

Resetting your Velo 1
Occasionally, you will need to reset your Velo 1, for example, after
you restore data from your desktop computer or when the
operating system stops responding to your commands or stylus taps.
There are several methods for resetting, depending on the severity
of the problem. In most cases, you can reset your Velo 1 without
losing any data; however, to ensure the safety of your information
you should regularly back up your data to your desktop computer....

The Velo 1 provides Quick Start keys, a fast way to use the
keyboard to go to many of your favorite programs.
To use a QuickStart key to start a program, hold down the ALT
key and press one of the number keys. The following table lists

Using the built-in modem
The Velo 1 includes a built-in modem for connecting to a
telephone line. You can use the modem to explore the Internet,
send and receive e–mail, send faxes, and connect to other
services.
To connect to a telephone line
 1Lift the RJ-11 jack away from the case, and plug in a
standard telephone line.
