    Connecting devices with HDMI jacks
    Connect  devices to the receiver as illustrated below.
    Before  connecting cables, be sure  to disconnect the AC power  cord  (mains  lead).
    If your  device does not have an HDMI jack, see “ Connecting devices with jacks other than  HDMI jacks .”
     HDMI cable (not supplied)  
    Sony recommends that you use an HDMI-authorized cable or Sony HDMI cable.
      Satellite tuner, cable TV tuner
     PlayStation3
     DVD recorder
     Blu-ray  Disc player,  DVD player
    Note
    This HDMI connection is  an example. You can connect  each HDMI device to any HDMI input.
    The  BD/DVD  input has better sound  quality. When you need  a higher sound  quality, connect  your  device to
    these  jacks and select them  as the input.
    Hint
    The  image  quality depends on the connecting jack. We recommend that you connect  your  devices via an
    HDMI connection if they have HDMI jacks.

    The  solid lines show recommended connections and the dashed lines show alternative connections.
    Be  sure  to disconnect the AC power  cord  (mains  lead)  before connecting cables.

    Connecting an MHL-compatible mobile  device
    Connect  an MHL-compatible mobile  device as illustrated below.
    This receiver supports MHL 2 technology.

    Use an MHL 2-compliant cable.
    Sony recommends that you use an MHL cable made  by Sony.

    Connecting the antennas (aerials)
    Connect  the supplied  antennas (aerials) to the receiver as illustrated below.
    Be  sure  to disconnect the AC power  cord  (mains  lead)  before connecting the antennas (aerials).
     FM  wire  antenna (aerial) (supplied)
     AM loop antenna (aerial) (supplied)
    Note
    To prevent noise pickup, keep the AM loop antenna (aerial) away from the receiver and other devices.
    Be  sure  to fully extend  the FM  wire antenna (aerial).
    After connecting the FM  wire antenna (aerial), keep it as horizontal as possible.

    Setting the voltage selector
    If your  receiver has a voltage  selector  on the rear panel,  check that the voltage  selector  is  set to the local
    power  supply voltage.  If not, use a screwdriver to set the selector  to the correct position  before connecting the
    AC power  cord  (mains  lead)  to a wall  outlet.
    The  voltage  selector  may differ  depending on the area.

    Inserting batteries into  the remote control
    Insert  two R03 (size AAA) batteries (supplied) into the remote control. Make  sure  that the +  and - ends are  in
    the correct position  when installing batteries.
    Note
    Do not leave the remote control  in an extremely hot or humid  place.
    Do not use a new battery with an old one.
    Do not mix manganese  batteries with other kinds of batteries.
    Do not expose  the remote control  sensor  to direct  sunlight  or lights. Doing so may cause a malfunction.
    If you do not intend  to use the remote control  for an extended period of time, remove the batteries to avoid
    possible damage from battery leakage  and corrosion.
    When the receiver no longer responds to the remote control, replace both  of the batteries with new ones.

    Turning on the receiver
    When you have made  all  connections with the other devices, connect  the AC power  cord  (mains  lead),  then
    turn  on the receiver. 1.  Connect  the AC power  cord  (mains  lead)  to a wall  outlet.
    2.  Press  (on/standby) to turn  on the receiver.
    You can also turn  on the receiver using  (on/standby) on the remote control. To turn  off the receiver,
    press  
     (on/standby) again.
    Note
    After you turn  off the receiver, [ STANDBY] flashes on the display panel.  Do not disconnect the AC power
    cord  (mains  lead)  while [ STANDBY] is  flashing.  This may cause a malfunction.
