    CONTROL I/O
This connector allows for remote control by suitably-
equipped units, and provides tally information to
    such units.
The total current of pin 6 (+5 V) and pin 8 must be
less than 100 mA.Input signals are active when grounded for at least
    30 ms.
Output signals are connected to an open collector
with maximum voltage 15 V, and maximum current
    50 mA.

This section gives the specifications of the unit, as
well as information on error messages, etc.
    Error messages and troubleshooting
The messages below do not indicate an error, but
are status messages which show the current
operations being performed on the appropriate
    drive:
The following messages typically indicate an
error condition, or a condition which requires
    attention:
    Message Meaning
Check Stop!! The extended recording check has ended
COMPLETE A finalize or erase operation is complete
COPY Standby Waiting to start a copy operation
ExtendChk Done when checking a disc for extended recording is taking place
NOW COMPARE A compare operation is taking place
Now Copy 1->2 Copying from drive 1 to drive 2 (shown on drive 1 only)
NOW OPC Checking the disc prior to a record operation
Now REPAIR Shown when repairing a damaged disc
OPC Area CLR Aa CD-RW disc is full, the OPC area is being cleaned for further recording
PMA Writing Recording is stopped, and the disc is still being written
TOC Reading Shown when a disc is first loaded
Wait... The unit is in pre-copy or post-copy mode
    Symptom Possible cause and remedy
No sound on playback (the disc is playing and the time
display is incrementing)The connections from the CD-RW402 to the amplifier system have not been
made properly, or the amplifier’s input source selector is not at the correct posi-
    tion.
No meter indication when a source is input Analog and/or digital volume (“Signal volume” on page 30) is set too low. The
signal is being input through an unselected input source (“Input selection” on
    page 30).
Copying is not possible (the copy keys do not work) Both drives must be stopped (not just in ready mode)
D-IN UNLOCK! A digital input source has been selected, but the source is not connected or is
    not switched on.
Cannot record on a disc (pressing
    RECORD shows
MONITOR)A finalized disc has been inserted. Use an unfinalized recordable disc.
PGM Full! An attempt has been made to create more than 100 program steps.
Disc Full! or Cannot Rec! There is no space on the disc, or no tracks are available, or a general recording
    error has occurred.
Disc Error The disc is bad. If it is a CD-RW disc, you may refresh it (, “Refreshing a disc”),
    otherwise replace the disc.
Erase Error! An error has occurred while trying to erase the disc.
The display suddenly shows PMA Writing Either the disc is full (this message will be prefaced by Disc Full!! (“Full disc” on
page 32) or an attempt has been mode to write more than 99 tracks.
Rec Error General recording error. This may be caused by vibration or a shock during
recording, for example, or may be the result of a bad disc. Try recording again
with the same disc. If the message appears again, try a different disc.
No OPC Area! Appears only with CD-R discs. The OPC area is full, and no further recording
is possible on this disc. Finalize the disc.
