    Printing on Envelopes from Tray 1
    1. Open Tray 1 and its tray extension. For details, see Loading Paper in Tray 1 on page 56.
    2. Insert no more than 10 envelopes into the tray and then adjust the paper guides to fit the 
    envelopes:
    •Side-flap envelopes: Insert the envelopes with the flap side up and the flap of the envelopes 
    toward the right side of the tray as shown.
    •End-flap envelopes: Fold down the flaps before placing them in the tray. Insert the envelopes 
    with the flap side up and the flap entering the printer first as shown.
    3. On the printer control panel, if the correct envelope size and type are displayed as the current 
    setup, select Use current setup and then press the OK button. Go to step 9.
    4. If the correct size and type are not displayed, select Change setup > OK.
    5. At the Tray 1 Paper Size menu, do the following:
    • If your envelope size is displayed in the list, select it and then press OK. Go to step 8.
    • If your envelope size is not displayed in the list, select New Custom Size > OK.

    6. At the Short Edge menu, do the following:
    • If the correct short edge size is displayed as the current setup, press OK. Go to step 8.
    • If the correct short edge size is not displayed, select Change > OK. To enter a new short edge 
    size, use the Up and Down Arrow buttons to specify the envelope’s short edge size and then 
    press OK.
    7. At the Long Edge menu, do the following:
    • If the correct long edge size is displayed as the current setup, press OK. Go to step 8.
    • If the correct long edge size is not displayed, select Change > OK. To enter a new long edge 
    size, use the Up and Down Arrow buttons to specify the envelope’s long edge size and then 
    press OK.
    8. At the Tray 1 Paper Type menu, select Envelope > OK.
    9. In the printer driver, select either Envelope as the paper type or Tray 1 as the paper source.
    Printing on Envelopes from Tray 2, 3, 4, or 5
    1. Remove the tray from the printer and position its paper guides. For details, see Loading Paper in 
    Tray 2, 3, 4, or 5 on page 59.
    2. Insert no more than 40 envelopes into the tray, flap side down with the flap toward the right side 
    of the tray as shown.
    3. Adjust the paper guides to fit the envelopes.
    Note:When the paper guides are adjusted correctly, there may be a small space between the 
    envelopes and the guides.

    4. Insert the tray into the tray slot and then push it completely into the printer.
    5. On the printer control panel:
    a. Select Paper Tray Setup and then press the OK button.
    b. Select the tray you are using: Tray 2 Paper Type, Tray  3  Pa p e r  Ty p e, Tray 4 Paper Type, or 
    Tray  5  Pa p e r  Ty p e.
    c. Press OK.
    d. Select Envelope as the paper type and then press OK.
    6. In the printer driver, select either Envelope as the paper type or the appropriate tray as the paper 
    source.

    Printing on Labels
    This section includes:
    •Label Printing Guidelines on page 74

    Labels can be printed from any tray.
    Label Printing Guidelines
    • Do not use vinyl labels.
    • Print only on one side of the sheet of labels.
    • Use only full sheets. Do not use any sheet where labels are missing; it may damage the printer.
    • Store unused labels flat in their original packaging. Leave the sheets of labels inside the original 
    packaging until ready to use. Return any unused sheets of labels to the original packaging and 
    reseal it.
    • Do not store labels in extremely dry or humid conditions or extremely hot or cold conditions. 
    Storing them in extreme conditions may cause print-quality problems or cause them to jam in the 
    printer.
    • Rotate stock frequently. Long periods of storage in extreme conditions can cause labels to curl and 
    jam the printer.
    Printing on Labels from Tray 1
    1. Open Tray 1 and its extension. For details, see Loading Paper in Tray 1 on page 56.
    2. Insert no more than 50 sheets of labels into the tray with the side to be printed facedown and the 
    top of the page entering the printer first.

    3. Adjust the paper guides to fit the labels loaded in the tray.
    4. On the printer control panel, if the correct paper size and type (Labels) are displayed as the current 
    setup, press the OK button. Go to step 6.
    5. If the correct size and type are not displayed, do the following:
    a. Select Change setup > OK.
    b. At the Tray 1 Paper Size menu, select the paper size and then press OK.
    c. At the Tray 1 Paper Type menu, select Labels > OK.
    6. In the printer driver, select either Labels as the paper type or Tray 1 as the paper source.
    Printing on Labels from Tray 2, 3, 4, or 5
    1. Remove the tray from the printer. For details, see Loading Paper in Tray 2, 3, 4, or 5 on page 59.
    2. Insert no more than 400 sheets of labels into the tray with the side to be printed faceup and the 
    top of the page toward the front of the tray.

    3. If necessary, adjust the paper guides to fit the labels.
    Note:When the paper guides are adjusted correctly, there may be a small space between the 
    labels and the guides.
    4. Insert the tray into the tray slot and then push it completely into the printer.

    a. Select Paper Tray Setup and then press the OK button.

    Printing on Glossy Paper
    This section includes:

    Glossy paper can be printed from any tray.
    Glossy Paper Printing Guidelines
    • Do not open sealed packages of glossy paper until you are ready to load the paper into the 
    printer.
    • Leave glossy paper in the original wrapper, and leave the packages in the shipping carton until 
    ready to use.
    • Remove all other paper from the tray before loading glossy paper.
    • Load only the amount of glossy paper you plan to use. Do not leave glossy paper in the tray when 
    you are finished printing. Reinsert unused glossy paper in the original wrapper and seal it.
    • Rotate stock frequently. Long periods of storage in extreme conditions can cause glossy paper to 
    curl and jam the printer.
    Printing on Glossy Paper from Tray 1
    1. Open Tray 1 and its extension. For details, see Loading Paper in Tray 1 on page 56.
    2. Insert no more than 50 sheets of glossy paper in the tray. Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper.
    3. On the printer control panel, if the correct paper size and type are displayed as the current setup, 
    press the OK button. Go to step 5.
    4. If the correct paper size and type are not displayed, do the following:
    a. Select Change setup > OK.
    b. At the Tray 1 Paper Size menu, select the paper size and then press OK.
    c. At the Tray 1 Paper Type menu, select Glossy Paper > OK:
    5. In the printer driver, select Glossy Paper as the paper type, or Tray 1 as the paper source.

    Printing on Glossy Paper from Tray 2, 3, 4 or 5
    1. Remove the tray from the printer and adjust the paper guides. For details, see Loading Paper in 
    Tray 2, 3, 4, or 5 on page 59.
    2. Insert no more than 400 sheets of glossy paper into the tray.
    3. If necessary, adjust the paper guides to fit the glossy paper.

    paper and the guides.
    4. Insert the tray into the tray slot and then push it completely into the printer.

    5. On the printer control panel:

    b. Select the tray you are using: Tray 2 Paper Type, Tray  3  Pa p e r  Ty p e, Tray 4 Paper Type, or 
    Tray  5  Pa p e r  Ty p e.
    c. Press OK.
    d. Select Glossy Paper as the paper type and then press OK.
    6. In the printer driver, select Glossy Paper as the paper type, or select the tray you are using as the 
    paper source.
    Printing on Prepunched Paper
    This section includes:
    •Printing on Prepunched Paper from Tray 1 on page 79
    •Printing on Prepunched Paper from Tray 2, 3, 4, or 5 on page 80
    Use the same printing guidelines as for regular paper, except take care not to print over the holes. 
    Printing over the holes may cause ink to transfer onto subsequent pages.
    Printing on Prepunched Paper from Tray 1
    1. Open Tray 1 and its extension. For details, see Loading Paper in Tray 1 on page 56.
    2. Insert the side to be printed facedown with the holes toward the right side of the tray as shown.
    3. Adjust the print margins to accommodate the holes. A minimum margin of 19 mm (0.75 in.) is 
    recommended.
    4. On the printer control panel, if the correct paper size and type are displayed as the current setup, 
    press the OK button. Go to step 6.
    5. If the correct paper size and type are not displayed, do the following:
    a. Select Change setup > OK.
    b. At the Tray 1 Paper Size menu, select the paper size and then press OK.
    c. At the Tray 1 Paper Type menu, select Prepunched > OK.
    6. In the printer driver, select Prepunched as the paper type, or Tray 1 as the paper source.

    Printing on Prepunched Paper from Tray 2, 3, 4, or 5
    1. Remove the tray from the printer and adjust the paper guides. For details, see Loading Paper in 
    Tray 2, 3, 4, or 5 on page 59.
    2. Insert the side to be printed faceup with the holes toward the right side of the tray as shown.
    3. Adjust the print margins to accommodate the holes. A minimum margin of 19 mm (0.75 in.) is 
    recommended.
    4. On the printer control panel:
    a. Select Paper Tray Setup and then press the OK button.
    b. Select the tray you are using: Tray 2 Paper Type, Tray  3  Pa p e r  Ty p e, Tray 4 Paper Type, or 
    Tray  5  Pa p e r  Ty p e.
    c. Press OK.
    d. Select Prepunched for the paper type and then press OK.
    5. In the printer driver, select Prepunched as the paper type, or select the desired tray as the paper 
    source.
