    Maintenance Information
    1. Any operator product maintenance procedures will be described in the user documentation supplied with the 
    product. 
    2. Do not carry out any maintenance on this product which is not described in the customer documentation.
    3. Do not use aerosol cleaners. The use of cleaners that are not approved may cause poor performance of the 
    equipment, and could cause a dangerous condition.
    4. Use supplies and cleaning materials only as directed in this manual. 
    5. Do not remove covers or guards that are fastened with screws. There are no parts behind these covers that you 
    can maintain or service. 
    6. Do not perform any maintenance procedures unless you have been trained to do them by an authorized local 
    dealer or unless a procedure is specifically described in the user manuals.

    System Requirements
    Pentium 4 PC or AMD equivalent with:
    •A DVD-ROM drive
    • An available Universal Serial Bus (USB) port
    •Microsoft
    ® Windows® operating system: 32-bit Windows XP (Service Pack 1 and 2), 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 
    Vista, or 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7
    The scanner is compatible with Service Pack 3 for Windows XP and Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista.
    • Minimum of 2 gigabyte (GB) of internal memory (RAM)
    • 350 MB minimum of free hard disk space
    A VGA or SVGA Monitor:
    • The recommended settings for your monitor are:
    – Color quality of 16-bit or 32-bit
    – Resolution set to at least 800 x 600 pixels
    Refer to your Windows documentation for instructions on setting the color quality and resolution for the monitor.

    for the OmniPage software.

    information for the PDF Converter software.

    Paper Feed—Place an item fa ce  dow n in scanner, the page feeds through as it is being scanned. 
    Paper sensor—Recognizes when an item is inserted in the scanner.
    Scanner button—If a scan is in progress, pressing the button cancels the scan and the item feeds through. When a 
    scan is not in progress, pressing the button opens the One Touch configuration window.
    Universal Serial Bus (USB) port—Connects the scanner to the computer.

    Unpack the Scanner
    Remove the placement card from the scanner. Pull the sheet out the front in the direction of the arrows on the card.
    Remove any shipping tape from the scanner body.
