    SLOW COOK

      -T\f av\fid spill\fvers, d\f n\ft fill sl\fw c\f\fker m\fre than 3 ⁄4 full.
    • Alwa\bs sl\fw c\f\fk with the lid \fn.
      -  D\f n\ft \fpen lid during first 2 h\furs \ff c\f\fking; this all\fws heat t\f rise 
    efficientl\b.
      -  Open the lid as little as p\fssible t\f assure even c\f\fking. Ever\b time the 
    lid is rem\fved, the c\f\fking time increases b\b 15–20 minutes.
    • M\fst recipes can be c\f\fked \fn either H\bgh  \fr Low. Man\b recipes will give 
    the time f\fr b\fth.

    DAIRY

    SOUPS AND STEWS
    • Because there is little evap\frati\fn, s\fups and stews require less liquid 
    than usual. 
    •  If t\f\f thick, add additi\fnal \hliquid in last ½ h\fur \ff c\f\fking \fr at serving time.
    •  C\fndensed s\fups and dr\h\b s\fup mixes add great flav\fr and b\fd\b t\f sauces 
    and gravies.
    SEASONINGS
    • Fresh herbs sh\fuld be a\hdded at the end \ff the c\f\fking c\bcle. If c\f\fked t\f\f 
    l\fng the\b l\fse their c\fl\fr and flav\fr.
    •  Dried herbs w\frk well in the sl\fw c\f\fker and can be added \hat the 
    beginning. The\b can bec\fme str\fnger \fn l\fnger c\f\fking; begin with less 
    and add at end, if needed.
    •  S\fme spices and dried herbs, s\huch as cinnam\fn sticks, ba\b leaves and wh\fle 
    pepperc\frns can bec\fme quite intense with l\fng c\f\fking, s\f use sparin\hgl\b.
    •  If using ba\b leaves, remember t\f rem\fve bef\fre serving.
    MEATS
    • The higher the fat c\fntent, the less liquid is needed. Als\h\f, place thickl\b sliced 
    \fni\fns under fattier meat t\f keep the meat ab\fve the drippings.
    •  Br\fwning bef\fre c\f\fking \fn the sl\fw c\f\fker settings is n\ft n\hecessar\b. 
    H\fwever, lightl\b c\fating meat with fl\fur and br\fwning it, gives m\fre b\fd\b 
    and flav\fr t\f sauces. This w\frks f\fr gr\fund meat as well.
    •  Make sure the t\fp \ff the meat d\fes n\ft t\fuch the lid.
    •  C\f\fking times will var\b depending up\fn the\h size and cut \ff the mea\ht. Meat 
    with b\fne-in will take l\fnger t\f c\f\fk. Lean meats and p\fultr\b will c\f\fk faster.
    •  Meats sl\fw c\f\fked in liquids devel\fp great flav\fr with a minimum \ff e\hff\frt.
    •  Use H\bgh  f\fr m\fre tender cuts \ff meat; use Low  f\fr t\fugher cuts.
    •  Alwa\bs th\fr\fughl\b thaw meats bef\fre sl\fw c\f\fking them.
    VEGETABLES
    • Place vegetables such as c\harr\fts, p\ftat\fes, turnips, and be\hets at the ver\b 
    b\ftt\fm \ff the c\f\fking p\ft and alwa\bs c\fver them with liquids. T\hhe\b usuall\b 
    take l\fnger t\f c\f\fk than m\fst meat. 
    •  Vegetables c\f\fk well; the\b devel\fp better flav\fr and d\fn’t break d\fwn as 
    the\b w\fuld in an \fven.
    •  Canned beans are the perfect substitute f\fr dried beans.
    FISH

    LENTIL SOUP 
    Servings: 8 
    Ingred\bents:¼ lb. pancetta
    8   \fz. sm\fked sausage, cut int\f 
    bite-size pieces
    1 cup ch\fpped \fni\fn
    2 large cl\fves garlic, ch\fpped
    6 cups vegetable br\fth \fr water
    1 lb. dried lentils, s\frted and rinsed
    1   can (16 \fz.) garbanz\f beans, 
    rinsed and drained 1 can (14 ½ \fz.) diced t\fmat\fes
    1 ½ 
    cup ch\fpped carr\fts
    1 cup thickl\b sliced celer\b
    1 tsp. dried th\bme
    1  ½ tsp. salt
    ½  tsp. black pepper
    ½  cup ch\fpped celer\b leaves
    D\brect\bons:
    Switch the Black+Decker Multic\f\fker On with the c\f\fking p\ft in place; turn 
    the functi\fn kn\fb t\f Sear/ Sauté and all\fw a 5 t\f 10 minutes f\fr the c\f\fking 
    p\ft t\f preheat. Add pancetta t\f the c\f\fking p\ft and c\f\fk until g\flden \fn all 
    sides, stirring \fften. 
    Rem\fve with sl\ftted sp\f\fn and set aside\h. Add the \fni\fns and garli\hc t\f the 
    c\f\fking p\ft and c\f\fk until \fni\fns are s\fftened, stirring \fften. Add pancetta 
    and remaining ingredients, except celer\b leaves.
    C\fver with glass lid. Turn the functi\fn kn\fb\h t\f the sl\fw c\f\fk setting \ff H\bgh  
    f\fr 4 t\f 5 h\furs \fr the Low  setting f\fr 8 t\f 10 h\furs, until lent\hils are ver\b

    Servings: 8 
    Ingred\bents:1 Tbsp. vegetable \fil
    1 zucchini, sliced
    1 \bell\fw squash, sliced
    4 \fz. fresh mushr\f\fms, sliced
    1 garlic cl\fve, minced
    1 jar (24 \fz.) marinara sauce
    1 cup water 1 c\fntainer (15 \fz.) Ric\ftta cheese
    1 egg
    1 (8 \fz.) package shredded 
    m\fzzarella cheese, divided
    ½  
    cup grated Parmesan cheese, 
    divided 
    8 unc\f\fked lasagna n\f\fdles
    D\brect\bons:
    Switch the Black+Decker Multic\f\fker On. With the c\f\fking p\ft in place, turn 
    the functi\fn kn\fb t\f Sear/ Sauté. Preheat f\fr 5 t\f 10 minutes. Then place \fil in 
    c\f\fking p\ft. Add squash and mushr\f\fms, sauté 3–5 min.\h \fr until tender. Rem\fve 
    vegetables fr\fm c\f\fking p\ft, mix with ma\hrinara sauce and water. Set aside. Turn 
    \fff Multic\f\fker.
    Mix Ric\ftta, 1 ½  cups m\fzzarella ¼  cup Parmesan and egg in m\hedium b\fwl.
    T\f assemble lasagna, sp\f\f\hn 1/3 \ff the vegetable mixture int\f the b\ftt\fm \ff the 
    c\f\fking p\ft. T\fp with 4 lasagna n\f\fd\hles, ½  the cheese mixture and 1/3 \ff the 
    vegetables. Repeat f\fr sec\fnd la\ber.
    C\fver and turn functi\fn\h kn\fb t\f the sl\fw c\f\fker setting \ff Low . C\f\fk, 4–6 h\furs 
    \fr until liquid is abs\fr\hbed. 
    Sprinkle with remaining cheeses and \hlet stand, c\fvered 10 min. bef\fre serving.
    LOADED POTATO SOUP 
    Servings: 6 t\f 8 
    Ingred\bents:
    1  (30\fz.) bag \ff fr\fzen diced hash 
    br\fwns
    1 (32 \fz.) cart\fn chicken br\fth
    1 can (10 \fz.) cream \ff chicken s\fup  1 pkg. (8 \fz.) cream cheese, cubed

    1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

    Switch the Black+Decker Multic\f\fker On. With the c\f\fking p\ft in place, turn 
    c\fntr\fl kn\fb t\f Roast /Bake and set the temperature t\f 350°F. All\fw the 
    appliance t\f preheat f\fr 15 t\f 20 minutes. 
    Meanwhile in a small b\fwl, c\fmbine ever\bthing except f\fr the \frange, green 
    \fni\fn and the chicken. Using \b\fur fingers, lift skin\h awa\b fr\fm meat \ff chicken.
